As previously mentioned, Jack's big brother is a regular poster on VillaTalk. Here is his opinion on Jack's International prospects..
"So.. he comes back to Villa, has a great season with us in 14/15 and gets a call up to the England first team. Would he do it Kev? Belated birthday wishes too mate!"
"I think it would depend on his situation with ireland. If he wasn't enjoying his time at ireland and/or they didnt want to call him up for their first team then yeah he would. But a first team call up for any international side next year is wishful thinking ! And cheers mate haha"

In the past, the brother has always indicated Jack is keen on Ireland. Not to say he might not change his mind but still.

Didn't start today but is involved now.
Alan Sheehan from Athlone scored again for Notts County though, left footed free kick guru that he is. Now there's a man who might have played much higher up if the old red cards and red mist had been fewer, I remember tales of scouts from Old Trafford and Celtic Park being in Leicester regularly when he won academy player of the season there nearly ten years ago now. Leicester legend has it that in one of his earliest games he decided in the dressing room at half time that the player in front of him, was taking up the wrong positions, so he told him so, in very definite vocabulary, this was referred to captain to have a word, one Dion Dublin, who was playing CB next to Sheehan that day, and he was duly told to go and have sex with himself also. All this I don't know to be fact. But early in the second half, right in front of me, he went through the back of a Crew Alex player, closer to waist than knee high, out near half way, and duly walked.
Lower leagues beckoned :) and yet, still, when Leicester were shopping for a LB of late, and eventually brought Konchesky in, there were many on the boards in favour of a return for Sheehan to the club, as on his good days he was very very good ...

Thank you nice job and excellent website. I know the article was trying to stay positive but shouldnt forget that Grealish is just another of the players who Paul Doolin fell out with and alienated brady, duffy, mceleney, mcginty.

Nice tekkers from Grealish today. This is his assist (one of two) for Campbell-Ryce's go-ahead goal to make it 3-2. They ultimately ended up winning 4-2 to boost their survival chances.

Nice camera angle there too. Grealish doesn't even appear to be that assertive without the ball- he doesn't appear to demand it and stood behind his marker for the throw-in when he was closest to it. Then, he picks up the ball and just makes defenders look silly. How good would he be if he got a Trap punch like James McCarthy was threatened with?

There was a real touch of class about the little delay right at the end before playing it across. Most players would have played it that split second earlier and been quite content with a corner after the inevitable block by the defender.

Wow it looks like Notts County will escape relegation unless
2 of the teams below win there remaining games and county fail to win their last game.
They have spend nearly all season in the drop zone, so looks like a great escape for them.

A draw will be enough unless Tranmere win 14-0.

Yes, Country look very safe, however you can only get about 3-1 on county getting relegated.
Although to lay them you get 7-1 or really 6-1 as it is decimal. However that is at Betfair which
takes a 5% commission I think.
So say you layed £12 at 6-1 you would get £2 back -5% so £1.90 I think.
Looks easy money but you risk losing a lot if it goes wrong in order to win
a small amount. £60 would get you back less than £10.
Then there could be a bit of skulduggery with players being paid to throw a match
so best left alone I think.
Charlie Darwin
27/04/2014, 12:55 AM
But you wouldn't lay £60 tricko. Tell me, where's your 50p going?

But you wouldn't lay £60 tricko. Tell me, where's your 50p going?
Well I can't now someone has taken that money, it is now 11.5 or 10.5-1
Need to put £10 on to get £1.
So looks like I missed the boat. 10-1 is a more realistic price, there are 3 possible results
win lose or draw so 3x3=1 plus one other team could win it's two games, again 3x3 so
you gave 9/1 + 9/1 =9/2 so maybe even the 6-1 was a bad deal.

Just wondering if, with the Football League season over, and with it Jack's loan deal with Notts County, will he make an appearance with Villa in either of the last two games of the season?

Villa are safe but Lambert's backside is still on the bacon slicer after a rancid run of results so I doubt he would take the risk of selecting Grealish for their next 2 games. They could still finish 11th too so that's even more incentive to play his strongest team.

He's under 21 so it's very possible, but doubtful as Lambert doesn't seem to like playing youngsters unless he's spent £3m to bring them in from Shrewsbury or Greenock Morton.

i think grealish will be involved in our international senior squad at end of season. I wonder will burke or drennan get contract extensions at villa neither have really pushed on this year unfortunately. That huge 11 man irish contingent at villa may be down to clark, grealish and toner by next season
Charlie Darwin

Why do you think Grealish will be involved? I don't think he's been mentioned by the coaches at all, has he? If guys like Eunan O'Kane and Sean Murray aren't there I'd be surprised to see Grealish.
And you don't think Carruthers will be kept on at Villa?

Just noticed that Tom Lawrence is starting for Manchester United after his loan at Yeovil finished up on Saturday. Always possible Grealish or even Duffy could get a nod this weekend.

You might have though Yeovil would have been doing somewhat better given
the alleged quality of some of their players on loan!!

Lawrence and Duffy have been unqualified succesess but the bulk of the team probably overachieved in League One last year and will likely not challenge again next season. They are a small club with not a huge amount of income, and promotion to the Championship doesn't provide you with a fraction of the financial windfall that promotion to the Premier League does. Blackpool bucked the trend and went all the way to the Premier League, but once again they're struggling to stay in the Championship. Scunthorpe and Preston are closer to the norm - teams who go up, assemble Championship squads and then have to cut costs rapidly when they go down again. Even Southampton, Leeds and Nottingham Forest - massive clubs - had a hard time getting back to the second tier.

Grealish won't be making his debut tonight. Chelsea and Liverpool would pitch a fit if he did. Villa have to put out something akin to their strongest side.

I highly doubt Lambert gives a fig about Liverpool pitching a fit. He'll play whoever he wants, which means he'll play the same 11 he plays every week except for dropping half his backline.

Should Hull's rivals pitch a fit because United started an 18 year old last night up front and had Mata and Van Persie on the bench?

higher placement in the league leads to more prize money.
What if Hull decided to rest their squad for the FA Final, and play their youth team? Could Everton or Spurs complain if they were squeezed out of a Europa League spot?

He can if he wants, provided he hasn't appeared for our senior team.
Can't wait for Liverpool and City and unleash the legal action against Villa for putting him on the bench. It's going to get messy.

Didn't get an awful lot of time to get involved - only time I really saw him was when he got blocked by Garcia and made the most of it. If he'd been on a few minutes earlier when Villa were bossing the ball, we'd have seen more of him.
