And I'm renewing my objection to Dodge's objection.

Could we arrange for these things to be taken as read in future seasons?

Shelsweb will have an official attendances thread (directly from the stiles) on a sticky in the Shels Talk section of the message board Stu if you want to just take the figures from there

I'll be posting the Shels official attendances - but really, the eL/FAI should be issuing/publicising the figures officially reported to them by each club every weekend.

That would solve all arguments and give us a realtime picture of actual attendances.

i know im probably just biting on the wind up bait here but i have to say it.attendances are annouced midway through the second half over the P.A as offical figures.and besides, its not like anyone connected with galway utd has ever mishandled figures before in their past jobs:p.

Yep, and none of us have eyes either...

Just to emphasise, I've no problem with collecting the info from official club sources (published, no announced)

I know several clubs have the crowds on their websites. As Fintan said it should be an FAI thing

I take your concerns on board Heggy but I think that the figure given for Galway is more or less on the money.

But Jesus did we not all have this arguement all season long last year, and the year before if i'm not mistaken.

I wonder why clubs can't release official attendance figures in any case, unless they have something to hide? I'm not saying anything, but it would make sense to release them.

Hopefully GUFC will see a good increase this year. It won't happen so much in the bigger games, IMO. What I would like to see is greater retention of fairweathers from the bigger matches.

Obvioulsy this is directly tied in with GUFC playing good football and picking some wins at home. Doing so earlier in the season should create greater hope of a good season all round.

Definately, I'm gonna contact the FAI about it to see what answer they have for it...

I think Harps' attendances on average will increase significanylt this season despite the probability of being relegated.

Does anyone know what FIFA's or teh FAI's rules are on keeping attendances and getting accurate attendances? Do the FAI have to do it, do the clubs have to do it, does it have to be done at all? What section of the FAI deals with it?

Drogs attendances cannot exceed 2000 due to the safety regulations

It was a joke (see stu's post) I couldn't care less what other clubs are getting, so long as our own are good then im happy.

It is up to the clubs to sumbit attendences. Their is an FAI assesor at every game who estimates the crowd so when they are sent to Noel Mooney by the CPOs they can tell whether they are believable or not.

According to the figures here, which appeared mainly to be official figures from the website or local media, you did. Started off very high (2000+), which would have helped obviously.

I was at every game, except 1 due to a berevement. We started off with approx 2,500 at the 1st game and attendances would have hung around 500-750 during the good evenings in the summer (IMO). The temp stand was taken away for around the last 6 or 7 games and I would estimate only 200-300 for these.

I suppose apprearances can be deceptive and perhaps more were there than you'd think

Eh what? Did you miss the word exact?

Season ticket holders weren't counted before, neither were kids under 5, therefore attendances released wouldn't have been accurate.

Now all tickets will be scanned and we will have the figures immediately, meaning they can be called out over the intercom at the game.

each club has to send in the official attendance by fax to the FAI within half an hour of the full time whistle. Great crowd in Terryland on an awful night and fair play to Bohs who had one of the biggest away supports in Terryland on a friday night.Should have got a draw after giving away a very sloppy goal.

2,193 isn't great for the first game of the season - especially since we brought 250 of them; I know the weather was sh!te an' all, but maybe €20 into the ground and €25 into the fancy stand is a factor?

You must be new here.

Thought our crowd was much nearer 800, but 622 was the offical figure. Still up 20% on the figure last year. Fair few students there, and when we had a blatant penalty call, there was actually a decent shout went up for it. Methinks the move to the Bowl is going to benefit us a bit.

Should be interesting see how City official attendances will tally with estimates. I won't see a home game for a few weeks so won't be able to judge. For what it is worth in think estimates at the cross improved over the years as easier when seated sections than terraces - very hard to estimate old shed.

I just showed my season ticket to the steward and went through the turnstile, which works when you press a button on the side. Unless the turnstile has a counter, I don't know how they will tally the numbers. My son brought his friend who had to buy a ticket and was given two at the kiosk:ball:
