Didn't Derry's chairman say that all this talk of them getting 3000/4000 attendances was a load of cack and they actually get about 1500 for games?

He also said there were only 3,500 at the Harps game. Most people reckoned there were 6,000.

We have over 1,600 season ticket holders.

So 1,600 + 1,500 =3,100

Our Cobh/Rovers double programme had all our attendances for outr home games this season, and thats down as 2,395.

According to the programme, our crowds this season:
St. Pats - 4,105
Finn Harps - 1,869
Bray - 1,720

Derry City - 2,775

Dundalk (LC) - 674
Cork City - 1,822
Galway Utd - 1,496
Sligo Rovers - 1,718
Drogheda Town (FAI) - 1,361
Rhyl (Int) - 1,342
FK Riga (Int) - 2,395
UCD - 1,286

So apart from the Pats derby your biggest crowd was V Derry!

I'm not on your forum but would you post that on there as I've read that we don't even bring a 100 down even though for that particular game we had 11 supporters clubs travel for it. We estimated that we had between 400-500 at it.

Thankyou.

About 2,400 @Derry V Rvrs. Heavy rain all day didn't help.

Summer football me arse.
It's autumn now anyway. :)

Reckon about 800 at UCD-Pat's. Will chase the official figure though.

BTW at a meeting with patrons last week, Pats reported that attendances are up 13% on last year, and last year was up 6% on the year previous
Curiously, I have youz up 6% this year and 42% the previous year, and it's pretty much entirely official figures for 2006 to 2008.

Guesstimate of about 1700 for Bohs-UCD. Bohs seem to have stopped putting official figures in their programme.
1286 official; just goes to show how wrong guesstimates can be!

Shows also that you can take unofficial figures here with a huge pinch of salt.

Anyway, update after the last few games cos I've missed a bit... Clubs who give official figures are in bold.

PREMIER DIVISION
Bohs - 2,099 (2007 - 1,924; 2006 - 1,463; 2005 - 1,976; 2004 - 2,340) (missing Cobh)

Galway - 1,300 (2,199; 1,148 FD; 566 FD; 571 FD)

Limerick - 494 (670; 364; 669; 188)
Longford - 563 (885 PD; 681 PD; 1,004 PD; 1,131 PD) (missing Dundalk, Waterford and Wexford)

Shels - 1,010 (888; 1,690 PD; 1,949 PD; 2,158 PD) (missing Athlone)
Sporting Fingal - 647 (N/A) (missing Kildare and Waterford)
Waterford - 692 (1,181 PD; 915 PD; 1,513 PD; 1,753 PD)
Wexford - 884 (810)

Premier Division average - 1,883 (1,687; 1,535; 1,759; 1,853)
First Division average - 641 (722; 570; 520; 512)

Overall average - 1,307 (1,235; 1,070; 1,195; 1,218)

FD is an average crowd in the First Division; PD is an average crowd in the Premier Division. I've only put that in where the attendances was when the club was in a different one to their current division.

Recent games missing -
Bohs v Cobh
Drogheda v Bray
Harps v Galway (600 or 1185?)
Kildare v Monaghan
Longford v Dundalk
Shels v Athlone

Season ticket holders aren't included in that 2,000 figure.

Which would have a figure of 3,300 about 300 too low.

I believe the crowd at the Harps game was probably a lot closer to the Star figure to be honest. It was a good night and there was a fair few people spread over the Town End Terrace and the gantry side of the pitch.

I'm presuming that people who have a season ticket payed for it therefore payed entry into the match.

Which in my eyes is good enough to be accounted for as attendance.

When it comes to official attendance figures in the English league they count season ticket holders whether they turn up or not. I dont know whether it is right or wrong to do that (and whats more I dont care) just sayin is all!

It was at least that. I'd say we had less than 100 spare seats (considering the "singing" section was overcrowded). 2,700 would be my guess

And no way should season ticket holders who don't attend be counted. Makes a mockery of any figures that have counted them IMO

There wasn’t much of a crowd at the derby match last night between Bohs and Rovers. 3000??

I would have thought this being a ‘big’ derby you would have got at the very least double that amount. Also thought the atmosphere was pretty low key as well.

A Tuesday night and awful weather probably lowered it a bit but you just don't get Belfast derby size crowds in the EL.

I thought the Rovers crowd was smaller than what they normally bring, not having a dig, it's understandable considering the weather, tv coverage and their league position. I'd say there was about 2500 in the Jodi and 1000 in the Connaught street. Disappointing crowd really as was said above.

I think 3,000 is about right - the Jodi was full down the F/G end, so i went up to C where there were a fair few seats and A and B were half empty - so say 2,500 in the Jodi. Being up that end I could see the Rovers fans in their full pomp, and I wouldn't say there was more than 500. As to why we don't get more; a few reasons - there was 4,700 (i think) at the first derby of the season in Tolka in similarly bad weather - we seem to bring more to the away fixture these days. At that point of the season, Row-fuss were still looking like they might do something - at this point mid- table mediocrity again is all they have to look forward to, Scully is not popular, and their home crowds have been falling. Add to that the fact that in July/ August a fair proportion of fans are likely to be on holidays, and add to that the fact that it was a Tuesday and therefore getting ****ed afterwards to celebrate was probably out of the question for a lot of people, and you're some of the way to the answer. And add to that the fact that 95% of fans have no appetite for teenage dirtbags throwing shapes outside before and after....

If a Bohs/ Rovers game is ever important again in terms of the destination of the trophy for BOTH sides then you'll see real crowds.

What did you think of the football, Steve?

I think Bohemians are pretty comfortable on the ball and knock the ball about well, Shamrock Rovers though seem to be more route one. I’d say the game was entertaining especially for a derby game. Your man Fenn I think was the outstanding player of the night, played very well and on that performance could play at a higher level.

I would certainly like Linfield to entertain Bohemians in the CL next season, I think it would be a fantastic match which could go either way as I don’t think there is much difference in standard.

Ah come on... The CPOs are under pressure to increase crowds, Revenue have clamped down on cash payments to an extent and people are known for overestimating crowds. Which is more likely - the club lying or people are out in their guesstimates?

Estimates for the Showgrounds home games are quite good on here. Maybe 10% out but not nearly 40% which was printed in the paper which I havent seen yet. Did it print the individual gates for each match? They mighting be lying about what actual revenue is coming into the Showgrounds every fortnight, as seasons tickets and super reds arent charged addmission thus taking them out of the equation. As i say the club may have alternative reasons for this.
