A Northern Ireland flag and anthem and flag acceptable to all is what is needed, not British symbolism being forced down the throat of the people of Ireland after an 800 year conflict with so so much opression inflicted on the Irish people under this symbolism.

:D

Classic!

1. I would'nt be in favour.
Why?

So when the official flag and anthem in the north are representative of both communities I for one will have no problem with both being flown and sung at Ireland rugby games.

I look forward to a new flag and anthem being adopted. When are nationalist politicians going to seek a change?

Brilliant!

People "like me" (whatever that is?) will just have to bear that dreadful burden.

Personal preference. The tricolour is important. the 3 colours represent peace between orange and green. In contrast, The union jack repesents inperialism and empire. It is not acceptable IMO.

Amhran na Bhfiann just sounds great and i love the big cheer at the end!

Very smart are'nt we. You know well nationalist politicians are not going to seek a change as this would be like accepting partition. The people who elect them do not want to accept this.

Maybe the alliance party could propose a change in the short term.

That is wums or trolls if you prefer.

Ie. People who come on with the intention of rising or annoying others.

You are some clown. You've admitted on this forum on the past that you went on the "OurWeeCountry" forum with the intention of rising and annoying them. That, by your own definition would make you a WUM and a troll. And by my definition, it makes you a hypocrite, among other terms which would earn me a warning or ban.

Well, I make no apology for offering a different point of view to any perceived norm.

I'm not here to intentionally "annoy" anybody.

If you wish to engage me in any of the matters I raise, that is your perogative.

You can be assured that I will offer my opinion - within the rules of the forum - on issues that I have an opinion on.

What are you annoyed about anyway?

They've already accepted it.

I'd welcome a proposal from any party.

I don't see any sort of united Irish team happening soon. More's the pity.

Until then, the FAI will continue to recruit from the north. Absent an appeal to the arbitration panel there isn't a lot the IFA can do about it.

Of relevance to the eligibility issue for the Republic, partition is no impediment.

Is this thread going to meander its way ad infinitum so all and sundry can dump their political baggage on here?

Lets hope so, KingdomKerry is starting to tie himself in knots. maybe he'll have an ephiphany one day, and figure it all out.

We can but hope, but I wont be holding my breath. :p

p.s. Happy New Year, my fellow Irish Brethren.
