Agree with ya there littleman on mos results Grattan to win handy against a Kinsale side with one eye on next fri.
Not sure what you heard from coachford But i think the park coachford game will be a 0-0
and bally to win handy
If that happens good weekend for grattan and title will be as good as theirs

well done to all at leeside for a great win- would like to hear a match report, unfortunately i couldnt get down to support ye but dont think ye'll mind really, send us on details when ye sober up
well done to grattan on saturday, good bunch of lads and good value for ye're win albeit with some assistance from tom tully (i'm not bitter in any way toward grattan mind). ye should wrap it up on thursday night in kanturk, very well done to all concerned and finish it off now on a high
regarding the tully decisions, i was bang in line with the "peno", the tackle was outside the box (it was close) but tom had no problem in awarding another peno against us, not the 1st this year and not his 1st sending off either, on that, what a langer !! there was absolutely no need whatsoever to send the young fella off- especially with a couple a minutes left and the 1st yellow for an honest (although strong) 50-50 challenge, it left a very bad taste in the mouth from what was a good free flowing game, grattan fully deserved the 3 points on the day and we got to give a few squad players a run around while resting a couple who had gotten knocks
wont go on about the ref'ing too much, i thought on the day he was poor for kinsale but the 2 big decisions were in my book well out of line, its all too easy for the refs to have too much influence on games, for fcuk sake if we cant have impartial ref's who dont have huge egos to satisfy then whats it all about, main job he has to do is remain impartial for both teams and protect players from assault and foul play, it is sometimes hard for refs but if they act like powertrippers then its no wonder they get abuse
players and coaching staff have put in a huge amount of effort on and off the pitch for the past 11 months (our season now runs to almost a whole year !) and when it comes down to a bad ref then it just hurts an awful lot more, its easy to have a go when things dont go your way but if these people are getting paid well for a couple of hours work then please give us value for money,
damien o'mahony is ref'in the final on friday night so expect a lot of frees in the middle of the park, defenses to get the benefit of the doubt on all counts and any big calls to make ....... where's he gone ....... sitting on his mobile fence that he brings with him everywhere (remember the villa game damien ??)...... or might as well be inside in frankie sull's sipping babysham
that rant should be enuf to get park a peno or another kinsale man sent off, but we seem to have that disadvantage all too often this year
ha ha what a moaner !
besta luck with the building up in hollyhill too by the way

Sorry le tizz but I was only a couple of feet away from the peno decision & it was inside the box (just). As for the sending off, 2 mins left & 2 nil up Tully had time to make his mind up before he got to the player & even the Grattan line were telling him not to reach for his card but he had the last say & now that player will missout on the AOH final. (try appealing it to the FAI)

Oh tom tom tom.... a poor game my friend. After I had just given you (begrudgingly) the ref of the season award. You made me look a fool tom.
I feel very sorry for the young lad sent off. He played well on the day and was shaping up to be an option for friday nite too.
On the game sat i was pleased with our run around. Neither team going hell for leather but considering our starting 11 i was happy with the result. Few performances as well to giv the management food for thought for friday. I hope Grattan go on to win it now. Genuine nice bunch up there and wished us well for the final on friday which is much appreciated.
Congrats Leeside. What a fantastic result. Especially seeing what you guys have had to go through these past few weeks. Great effort.. proud to have a cork winner. Mite knock those Limerick teams off their high horse for a bit :D :D!!!

Well done Leeside,Great result. Very surprised to hear about Tom Tully's performance on Saturday but sometimes power can go to their head. Just heard that Tom is hanging up his boots, will be a huge loss to the AUL.
Another fine win on Saturday plus no new injury worries.Unfortunately the club will not be making a second appearance at the cross this year after our B team were held 3-3 yesterday in County Cup semi-final,going out 5-4 on agg.If the game was 50 minutes a side we would no doubt have beaten them given we scored 2 goals in the last 5 minutes and would no doubt have scored another. All down to the boys to do it Friday and bring some silverware back to the club

Sorry but I couldnt resist that one,:D
Congrats to Leeside an Rebel.Great win an for what ye have gone through lately I hope it in someway can soften the sorrow that your club has had to deal with an are still even dealin with.I would also hope that the Mjc is sittin on Jimmy Barrs bedside willing him to get better soon.Well done again from all up in O'Neill Park.I've been on the Mjc thread an for the most part is well wishers all round excepting for the usual suspects from outside rebel HQ who wouldnt be able to be gracious under any circumstances.Another Munster title for the rebels an between Leeside an Rockmount the rest of Munster an beyond cant hold a candle to ye.
On Saturdays game, well it was a bit of a non event for me.When I saw who was on goal (Jeremy wearin a big yellow top,big bird sprang to mind)for Kinsale I thought fcuk this I'm toggin off, hahaha no we did share a joke about it when I had a chat with him before the game.No all things aside it takes some balls to come up to our place an step up to fill the goalkeepers position if hes unavailable. For me neither side for the most part was really bothered to get in to top gear so to speak.Kinsale just went through the paces an we just kinda took advantage of it.Dont get me wrong we played well its just that there was no bite to the game as such, probably me own fault because I was expectin somtin else altogether.I was near my usual spot near the bottom goal for the peno so I cant really comment. But there were plenty of missed opertuinitys in the first half besides the peno.
The 2nd goal was only a matter of time in comin along an Shinky capped of a fine display with a good finish. We put in a good team performance on the day overall. We dominated start to finish for the most part its just I would have liked a few more goals,im selfish. As for the rest or should I say Toms part, well I'm always happy when he refs because he wont take shiit from knowone an he wont tolerate dirty players.Hes not everyones cup of tea an considering the Aoh is on Friday the red card was maybe harsh. But in sayin that Tizz, a 50/50 needs 2 players to tackle. The young lads is just that young, an he lunged into the tackle as Shinky was skipin away.A yellow in anyones book. The second was harsh I agree but only in terms of what ye have goin on Friday.Im surprised he was left on the pitch an even more surprised some of your more experienced players didnt have a word with him to calm him down a bit before it came to the 2nd yellow..He was also envolved in the incident with Cans which I thought was worse than the other 2 but he is only a young fella an he played the game at a high tempo with his heart on his sleeve tryin to impress an has suffered for it.
A tough price to pay but I think everyone at the game an especially on ourside were tryin to stop Tom givin him the yellow,I'v never came across a side tryin to stop a ref sendin off one of the opposition in such a vital game.We were able or forced to rest a few ourselves after the Battle of Punch 'o' Villa and they should all be back for the Kanturk game. Its seems we have to go win in Kanturk.Well if thats what we have to do thats what we will do.The Bally game was switched to Sunday because of all the Communions an stuff.I might have a chat with the man up stairs meself if we need an extra bit Sunday to get us over the line.
Just a little thought, the golden boot.Is it me or what but its all Prem A on the top half an the Prem teams on the bottom half.Jp has 35 goals in all competitions this year,37 last season an he wont even get a golden "sizzler"

Poles apart with everything you said littleman! Game defo wasnt all grattan and we could of and should of had one or two ourselves. I would go as far to say that aside from the penalty that the first half was even!. Second half ye came more to the fore with the hill as is expected.
In regards the sending off?! The first yellow was for a header which he won fairly in my opinion - as he was doing all day! Both players with their hands up - i dont know anyone who doesnt jump any other way. He got up higher and won the ball, simple as. Bad decision. Second yellow with the game petering out and nothing of note happening was a ridiculous decision. A grattan player had kicked the ball away about 2 minutes earlier when Mongo tried to take a quick free kick and nothing was done. Similar crime? I just feel it was so unnecessary.
Anywho we'll get over it. Cant wait for friday night now.

I would be surprised if you agreed with me Bog about the game.I thought the first half was to stop start with us constantly goin up our left flank yet when we switched it BB should have had 2 goals if it wasnt for bad finishin an the 2nd just a little better. We normally play our better football goin up the "hill" .In the first half we over played a lot of crosses an passes.Playin high balls in to ye is a waste of time an only in the 2nd half did we go down both flanks.
What was strange for me was we had quite a lot of shots on goal in the 2nd half from distance, not normally our form.I wouldnt disagree your point about having the chance to score an I dont think I said ye did or did not, just that we were in control for the most part.
With regards to the player you saw one thing an I saw another. The incident with the header for me was quite different in your eyes to what I made of it an we will leave it at that. The first yellow was just a late challenge even though he may have tried to win the ball he mistimed it an it looked bad.The 2nd yellow anyway you look at it it was a silly thing to do.
I spoke to Tom after the game to see what he had to say an he said that anyone could have been watchin the game an it was a dilberate hand ball,he was left with no option what so ever the rest of us think. He shut me up fine an quick when he said what if the game was 1 apeice when it happened.Refs only apply the kickin away the ball yellow if your gettin on there backs an you are only too aware of that. Most of um just tell ya to cop on or else.I honestly felt sorry for the lad but as much as it may have been a rush of blood to the head I feel that he should have been taken off when he got the first yellow,ye had more than enough subs an it wasnt a dirty game full of yellows, just the odd 2 or 3.Mainly for mouthin.
If that was us in your position Caulfield would have taken him off if he thought there was a chance he might be needed for the final. If he was raw ye should hav expected him to be mad to impress an seen the signs.Again a very tough lesson for him to learn, especially so as he was surrounded by more experienced people.
Balypheane V Villa was played up at Villas place tonight because of some mix up,any score.Ballypheane to win if I dont hear anythin by tommorow

Congrats to Leeside, super win. Ye done us all proud. Saw the picture on Billy's website of Jimmy Barr's son lifting the cup with Joe Lyons, great touch by Joe.
On the game last week i can't see why littleman and bog can't get along. I admit we had most of the possession and as usual didn't take our chances, but Kinsale had a few break away's down the hill that could have caught us. 2nd half with us down the hill was probably onesided and ye being a goal down and Friday's game on mind I could only see 1 winner at that time. As for the sending off I thought it was very harsh. Ok we can argue till we are blue in the face about wether it was or wasn't, it was given. The same player had a few niggly fouls after that and then the handball. Tom should have used common sense and not sent him off, if he said somebody could be watching so what he's finishing at the end of the season. Who does he have to answer after that , the wife. I am genuinely gutted for the player, nobody wants to see a player miss a final especially the AOH.
Onto Kanturk next for us and we have to treat this game as if it was the 1st game of the season. Can't take anything for granted till the 90 min's are up.
Bally won 4 - 1 up at villa last night. Talking to Liam Sheehan who had to fill in on goal for Villa and he said Bally were well up for the game. Have to make sure we get the job done in Kanturk and not leave it till Sunday game.

After reading all these comments, there seems to be a lot of pity on the young lad who got sent off.But in fairness lads,if a player commits that many fouls during a game, why didnt they bring him off be fore he got sent off.I know what its like to make your break-through for the first team. You want to win every header, every tackle etc.But maybe Tom seen enough on the day and gave him his marching orders.
Another point i have to make is what if there were some spectators from Park up there watching the game and Tom failed to show the red card? Im sure he would have come under critiscim from us then!
Anyway roll on Friday night, should be a cracking game of 'ball.
Anyone know have Cashmans given out the prices yet?
I was told they would be given out a few days before the match.

its all been said, there are slightly different views but like you said toesie, its all water under the bridge now, he was on the fringes of the 11 trying to impress and that may have cost him an appearance in the final, dont agree with the fact that he was consistently fouling, as a midfielder tackling is a big part of your game, he won more clean balls than anyone else in our midfield and i was 5 feet away from the 1st yellow, he had eyes on the ball and won it clearly (dont tell me otherwise cause it was black and white to me), he was fully committed and won the ball, his momentum carried thru and knocked mark o'sullivan over, a foul would have been harsh a yellow was ridulous, marky aint your biggest player so a well timed tackle (in the air) can see him knocked over easily, i'm not having a go at mark but he stayed down for quite a while, which if he was injured then fair enuf, 2 minutes later he was showboating over on yer line and making a fool of 3 of our defenders (and very well done too) so he cant have been that bad, thats not the point being made tho
it was all down to tully either way, we've all agreed that it wasnt gonna affect the result in the end, tom was polishing his ego when he said he didnt have a choice, if you're gonna apply the rules then do it consistently and fairly for both teams, to say kicking the ball away doesnt warrant a yellow is fair enuf but its still deemed a bookable offence in the laws of the game ! so the ref applies the rule as he sees fit if he doesnt give a yellow, just the same as an innocouous handball in the middle of the pitch with 2 minutes to go in a game that was already all over- do you apply the full severity of the laws of the game in that case
maybe the management should have taken him off but if thats the case then we should all be wrapped up and protected against stoopid refs, there'd be nobody left, norries eveywhere would certainly be the worse off for it ! we'd be better off going off playing hockey with the girls, at least you know what the ref is gonna do then...... peep, free for swinging a leg too close to an opponent ..... i kicked the ball ref ......no, the law states .....
but we are blessed with our love for the game and all that goes with it, if we cant try to improve our own games and likewise if the ref thinks he knows it all it then it doesnt bode well for the game at any level, if we dont respect the honesty of mistakes and allow for errors then we might as well jack it all in, you said yourself littleman that he took his time to make his decision so he had a think about it, was it "who was watching" that made his mind up or was it "the right thing to do would be to give him a final warning" i dont think anyone here would choose the former so tom let himself and the rest of us down with that call
thats my opinion, its not black and white but its honest and in the spirit of the game. villa had nothing to play for against ye last week yet they were intent on kicking lumps out of a footballing side, had we done the same last saturday then i wouldnt be sitting here defending our player, taken in context tom was well out of line and if he thinks about it i hope he sees that, he has been a good ref for the league and good luck to him in his new career but for fcuk sake get over yourself, damien o'mahony could do the same, be fair and play the game in the spirit of fairness, its not about the man in black but the chance that 2 teams will produce some sexy stuff and entertain whoever is watching ! i've applauded goals scored against us this year, even if they hurt going in, a bit of skill or a great goal is there for all to admire, if we suck that out of the game by the ref not being honest and fair then we're all fcuked
i think i'm gonna cry !
we are hoping to make ammends on friday night for a poor season by our high standards, besta luck to all at park and may the best team win
grattan to have too much against kanturk tomorrow night so well done on a great achievement on retaining the cup go again next year !! bally could give ye a good game so better to wrap it up sooner than later

qoute Le tizz '' i'm not having a go at mark but he stayed down for quite a while, which if he was injured then fair enuf ''
He usually stays down till the physio is about halfway out on the pitch and then jumps up just to p#ss him off. In fairness to Mark though I have seen him take some punishment over the years and within a couple of mins on from the knock he would be flying down the wing. He is not a player to fein injury, it's just uncanny the way he recovers so quickly.
Last thing about the sending off last week I don't think there was a bad tackle from either side for the 90 mins so I state again very harsh red card.
Well Parkboy , how are ye shaping up for the big one on Friday? Same to Tizz and Bog what way are the seasiders?
littleman
22/05/2008, 2:09 AM
There seems to be a few very different versions of the game between us an Kinsale an the sending off.A few very interesting points have been put out there for us to mull over.
Tizz you first " was it who was watching" that made his mind up or was it "the right thing to do would be to give him a final warning" .
Most players would deem a yellow card enough of a warning to watch them selves, yes or no
Parkboy,,"Another point i have to make is what if there were some spectators from Park up there watching the game and Tom failed to show the red card? Im sure he would have come under critiscim from us then!"
Would have it been fair to let him on the pitch in light of the final or would it have been unfair to Park.
Its grand for me sittin on the fence but I think think in general Tom had a good game on the day.The decisions he had to make in the context of the game were brave. The majority of the refs we have in this league would not have had the balls to call a peno like the one he did as close as it was.If Kinsale an ourselves were neck an neck comin into the game an we were chasin the game when the 2nd yellow came along an the ref shiit the course I'd be goin mental,an vice versa if Kinsale were in the position.
As much as it can be said that it was harsh to send the lad off in hindsight to say the ref did what he wanted to do rather than to say he did what was right,no matter how harsh it seemed is equally wrong of us.Do we want refs to do whats best for our own team or do we want them to do whats best for the game.If Kinsale had the lad available for the AOH an say he scored the winner, who says thats fair to Park. The ref at the end of the day is either right or wrong dependin on what side your on.We may all agree it seems a heavy price to pay but its we as players who force the refs in general into the situations in which they have to make the call.No one asked the player to do what he did, certainly not the ref so why should we give him all the blame.Just some food for thought but then it dosent matter now anyway dose it.
Last one "marky aint your biggest player so a well timed tackle (in the air) can see him knocked over easily, i'm not having a go at mark but he stayed down for quite a while, which if he was injured then fair enuf "
Mark O'Sullivan or Cans as he is better known is a rare breed which I'm sorry to say is a dyin breed. He turns his eyes up to heaven an it makes his blood boil when he hears lads say they have hamstring or little knocks or there feelin a bit off an cant play.He lives breathes football an especially with Grattan. He is the heart an soul of this side.Hes captain because nobody gives more for the team.If blood aint gushin out or if bones aint stickin out then he sees no reason why you cant play.No matter who takes lumps out of him an he takes an awful lot of punismant he just gets on with it when a lot bigger an so called tuffer lie there waitin for a fcukn sponge an take a few weeks off.He dosent hobble around after gettin up because he couldnt be bothered his ares,to him pain is just something you get on with while your tryin to win a game.If I had a euro for every lad who seein Cans trot onto the pitch thought they were goin to have a royaler because of the size of him, well we wouldnt need much off the Lotto for the dressin room.I'v known him since he was 15 an the only time I've seen that player stay on the ground is when another player intentionally goes out of his way to put him there, tis as simple as that, other wise you wouldnt get him down.
Cans is old stock , an I would'nt say no to a few more like him .
bogwarrior
22/05/2008, 8:33 AM
Everyone has their opinion! and we'll all respect it. Cans maybe oldschool but i think there's a hint of new school in him as well. Well able to pass the ball this lad and with your match winners like, JP Danny & Kelleher i dunno does he get the recognition he deserves but i think he's a fine player.
Ticking over nicely now for tomorrow night. Little run around during the week - there was no time for cobwebs to form but we shook em out just in case. This is the longest break we've had b4 a game in months and it feels weird?! Everyone's in good form and we just want to get out there now. No injuries so we have a full strength squad to choose from.
Keep us informed about tonight lads and best of luck to whoever wins. No coming home at 3 in the morning and drunken posting on this if it goes well littleman!

think that was delea before he cut the hair
enjoy tonight grats, been a long season and its lovely to finish it off with a bit of silverware, keeps the interest and the hunger
fingers crossed that it'll dry up a bit before tomorrow night, the night we played bally down there just before christmas was one of the wettest nights i've been out in and i dont think the city lads will be too happy if we mess up their turf ;)
we'll do what we need to do to win tho, if our 11 (and subs) come out playing then i'm confident we've enuf to take the cup, park lads will have their say no doubt and they went to leeside and beat the munster champs on their own turf so we'll have to give everything and pull together, difference between winning and losing could be the width of a post or a ref's decision ................... fookin hell, i'm not going there again, i've had enuf rants this year to last a lifetime
might turn my hand to hockey after all if things dont go well for me tomorrow ! then again i'd look awful in a skirt :D

Big game tomorrow night in Turners Cross. Kinsale need to win to save what has so far been a disappointing season. Nowhere in the league and 2 cup final losses would not be regarded as a success by the seasiders, to put it mildly. Park have been improving for a few years and it looks like they will finish 2nd in the league, they won't want 2 runners up medals for all their hard work.
Kinsale havn't been performing well of late. 3 losses and a draw in the league since their semi final win is their worst run in years. Park seem to be the form side but it still is too close to call.
If Kinsale's stars, Derek McCarthy and Derek Varian, shine then I reckon that Kinsale can't be stopped at this level. But if quality ball to these 2 is blocked then there is little else to worry about for Park.
Best of luck to both teams and may the best team win :ball:

Hi all, sorry the Innish has been a bit quiet recently was away on the old honeymoon.
Just thought I'd take the opportunity to congratulate a few teams (in a slight order)
1. Leeside, what can I say fantastic... you've helped put Cork Junior football and the AUL back on the map on the national scale.
2. Grattan, win it once is good, retain it is truly special well done.
3. Kinsale, that was a pressure win after what would be a disappointing season by Kinsale standards against a Park side that's really now a force in the premier. My congrats to Ger and all the Kinsale crew.
4. Innishvilla, after a shaky start to finish 5th in the AUL Division 1 was a credit to team and management. Can't wait to see the new pitches for next season...

Well lads what a weekend!! First off i'd like to say thanks to Park for a great encounter. Probably wasnt the greatest final to ever grace turners cross but i dont think it was lacking in excitement. The difference on the day were two spectacular goals from our two main men. In fairness they were 2 goals worthy of any final. To say we're happy is an understatement. After going through a barren spell last year and not winning anything makes you appreciate the victory all the more. Absolutely delighted. Plenty of celebrations all weekend and a big thank you to all who congratulated us.
Also a big congratulations to Grattan. To win one title is something special but to retain it is an even bigger achievement in my book. Well done to you all. Grattan will take some beating next year again but we'll be doing our best.

Well lads, I havent been on here in a fair while. A lot has indeed happened since!
My congratulations to both Grattan and Kinsale respectively. You both deserved silverware for your efforts this season. In fairness there has been a right spread of trophies this season amongst the top teams:
Grattan - League champs
Kinsale - AOH
B'hane - Mossie
Leeside - MJC
& Park can be proud of their efforts in being runners up in both the league and AOH.
As for our own final in the MJC, I dont think there has been any post from a leeside player so here my tuppence worth. Great win on the day - I thought some of our players were outstanding - Joe Lyons, Alec Nodwell, Ricky Getts and Derek Dulea. I expected more from Ballynanty but its all on the day that counts. There were some celebrations afterwards I must say, went on for a number of days!! On a personal note, I was due to start up front but pulled my hamstring in training during the week. A setback, but sure what can you do, I was just delighted for Barr and the lads. If we can strengthen the depth of our squad during the summer, I'd love to see us now go for a tilt at the title. We're losing Joe Lyons to travel though and he will be a loss
A great season all round anyway and congrats again to all involved.

First I'd like to congratulate Kinsale on winning the AOH cup, to say ye needed to win was the under statement of the season, well done to all at the seaside.
Onto Grattan & the gamble paid off on sat, playing 2 games in 2 days was a chance we took but we knew we had to go for it against Kanturk. Goals in the 5th,6th & 8th mins got us off to the best possible start ( we also missed 2 in that time) a 4th in the 77th min started the party. The football we played for the 90 mins was a pleasure to watch , even the locals were surprised to see how well we play.Fair play also to Kankurk they never gave up & always played ball, its just that we were the better team.
Sunday we were in party mode for the clash with Ballyphehane Celtic but still the lads wanted to win & that they did with an emphatic 3 - 1 win to end a long hard season. Cans lifted the cup & the celebrations started. Well done to Pat & all the players.
Still a bit hungover at the min so I'll take my leave now to meet up with some of the lads in the Anglers

If Kinsale's stars, Derek McCarthy and Derek Varian, shine then I reckon that Kinsale can't be stopped at this level.
Congratulations to all involved with Kinsale. Great win especially for some of the old dogs who mightn't get too many more chances to win it. Still, after the celebrations calm down, Kinsale will have to review their season and ask why they underperformed so badly (except in the AOH Cup, obviously). A cup win is great, but their league points total was their worst in years and their tame exits from the MJC and the FAI jun will hurt on reflection. Are Kinsale on the way back up or down???
Congratulations to Grattan for retaining the Prem title. The league table doesn't lie at the end of the season and the best team is always on top. Other teams will have to look at themselves and ask what do they have to do to get to 44pts next season.
Park are improving year by year and silverware isn't far away if they add a few players to the team.
Ballyphehane, after a great start fell away, but they are young enough to come back strongly next season. They probably need to improve their squad considerably if they want to challange for the league.
Leeside's MJC win was a great boost for Cork soccer and themselves in this difficult time for them, but they shouldn't be relying on cup runs to save their season every year. They need to improve the squad if they are ever going to challange for the league seriously.
Good to see that the trophies were shared out though, and that no team has dominated the silverware. But Grattan are the best in the AUL at the moment and its up to everyone else to try to knock them off their perch :ball:

Hi lads you will excuse me for not gloatin in our victory but I'm just delighted its all over, been a long hard couple of seasons an its catchin up on me.We took the gamble in playin Kanturk Saturday then Sun against Bally but it was worth it.We won both games well an even encreased our points tally from last season which was a surprise considering the teams that were in with a shout this season an our goals for 55 in 18 games is astounding. My only regret is that we didnt add a cup this year but I'm confident even at this stage that that will change next season. Some surprised me this year an some didnt, some fought above there weight an some struggled but everyone had a bite at one of the cups that was on offer so all in all it was dished out fair an square.Congrats to one an all an well done to all the league an cup winners an for those less fortunate theres always next season.cheerioooooooooooooo

Well what can i say.So near but yet so far.
Bit disappointed over Friday night. We made a great start and to be fair it was a very even affair. But two moments of class finishing turned the game. The lads gave their all.Bone in goal was outstanding as were the back four. Our centre half Eamon was by far the best player on the pitch. Our midfielders played well also but we really lacked firepower up front.Still a great achievment and this team is really growing so lets hope we go one better next year.
Bally couldnt fill a team last night so just Leeside and the 'seasiders' to go.
Park A : League runners up
Aoh Cup Finalists
Park B : 5th in League
County Cup Semi-Finalists
Roll on next season.
On a final note well done to Grattan,Leeside and Kinsale on their recent success.

Team of the year,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Leeside hands down for winning the Mjc.
Manager of the year,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,My head says Pat Caulfield from Grattan for taking Grattan from the position they were in "3 points from there first 3 games" to taking the next 40 from a possible 45points(the final 15 games reads W 13/D 1/ L 1),in itself I think thats an encredible achivement Add to it the last 16 of the Fai,quaters of the Mjc an semis of the Aoh a half dozen Oscar players an another Irish Junior call up for Pa Connors.By anyones standards that would take some beating .,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,The Dillons Cross management also could stake a claim,as I think this is there 3rd promotion on the trot,Aoh quater finalists an semis of the Michaels an one other cup I think,,,,,,,,,,,,Kinsale for winning there first ever Aoh,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Blackstone if they do the double,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,but my heart tells me it will go to the Leeside management.

Players can only transfer in either November or Jan,thats it.
Maximum of only 20 players allowed on each team.
A walk over will cost ya 150 euro an the second one will see ya gone.
There could be some sence in the old Aul dog yet,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

These sensible rules are a long time coming. Players will have to be very careful who they sign for in August. Is this rule just for the AUL or is it nationwide? How does this affect players transfering between different leagues ie MSL/AUL?
20 players per team could cause all sorts of problems with a few injuries and a few outward transfers during the windows. Some of the big clubs - Grattan, Kinsale and Leeside have used more than 20 players in recent seasons and still had problems at the end of the season. I hope that this is a national rule as teams from other counties with big squads will have an unfair advantage in the FAI and MJ Cups.
But it's easy to be critical. At least there is something being done to address problems. Lets give it a go and if its not working then try something else.

Do these new rules affect all divisions?? Premier to 3rd division..also will club secretary be informed so he can inform manager and so on..?

Your club secretary should already be aware of these changes.Premier to division 3 it dosent matter.20 signed players per squad.I am presuming that if a player jacks a team in of his own accord then the club would have to cancel his registration before they are allowed sign another player.Your club secretary will or should ask all these questions next Tue night at the Aul AGM.;)

This '20 man per squad' rule would seriously hurt the clubs who in the past have relied on GAA players (No harm there!). Clubs will have to pick their squad very carefully - maybe sacrificing ability for an average player who is always available. Interesting times ahead.
But does this rule apply to other leagues?? Tipp, Limerick, MSL?
And does the 'transfer window' rule apply to other leagues also??

I arrived to hear disco music from the upstairs venue the Agm is ususlly held in an thought to meself they jumped into bed
with the Msl an are havin a party..Mores the pity but up stairs was booked for a party an the rest of us special people were crammed into what looked like the parlor in O'Connors downstairs.
When we were all squased in the fun started. The commitee itself looks alot like DADS ARMY if anyone can remember the programe. The chairman especially akin to Capt Mannering trying to control his crew .they gave a few things a go ie, mainly listening to clubs but never really looked comfortable when asked to explain what was bein discussed. All farts an aches an pains from the top table.Laugh of the night came when Capt Mannering asked for the mobiles to be turned off in the middle of a particularlly impotant question. It rang an rang again ,he got very miffed until on of his fellow platoon realised it was his phone.Cue uncontroled laughter.
For proposed changes , youth players have to be registered with the Aul if they are to be used at junior level an are only allowed 5 games with the Aor B side,6th game with who ever makes them an A or B player if you follow my drift.Apparently clubs were usin there youth players when ever they wanted too an it was totally illegal because the Aul an Youths league are not connected. There were a few very red faces amoungst the floor when that was said I can tell ya when they realised they could have been thrown out of whatever competition they were in league or cup.Passed on the night..
Only 2 windows for transfers.November an January.Passed on the night as well.
A player can only register for 2 junior clubs in any one season. Not passed.Sorry lads but even though the majority of clubs in the Aul might not agree with it an wouldnt pass the rule the Fai will be bringin this one on board before Christmas so its comin whether it was passed or not.For the record I agree with it.Secondly as there are only 2 chances to transfer each season an considering how long it takes to transfer it amounts to the same thing anyway.
Big fines for walkovers, possible expulsion.Passed on the night. No more caves or driveways to tog off in,,,,pardon me if I giggle but cant see much of a change to this one.
Balls again were on the agenda with heated debate on why Umbro were trying to get us to handle there expensive balls, hehehe. When they had perfectly good cheap ones available in your local Statoil with every 5 euro of petrol. No but honestly they are pawning off balls on us for between 40 an 50 euro an they also have a ball for 25 but they neglected to tell the Aul that before the Aul purchesed 150 of the expensive ones.Umbro an quality, sorry but it dosent work for me..
The debeate which got everyone hotunder the colar was the venue. The biggest turnout in years an we were in a front room,no jokin 60 people in a room 30 by 30.I played against some of the lads that were there on the night in my younger years an I didnt get this near to them on the pitch when they were markin me.
All jokes aside it was good to see the Aul are tryin to improve, all be it slowly but its still a step forward. So of the proposals were just a bit beyond the ability of our league to impose.Good ideas just a bit to much to move forward so quickly but again it was impressive to see that they are actually tryin.I just hope the clubs react in the right manner an become more of a help than a hindrence. Some of the questions an answers that came from the floor just went to show all that was backward about the teams in the Aul rather than the league itself. You hear clubs complaing about fixture pile ups because they have good runs in the cups an are forced to play lots of games late on.My advice,go out in the first round of all the cups an be finished your season in January.Mayfield an Blarney all weathers are there to be used now.We for one will no longer be callin any games whatso ever off if the weather is bad.League or cup.We played every weekend of the season an we still finished up basically one of the last to finish.Teams call off games because there short a few of there regulars or the lads are away ect ect, only foolin your self lads an then ye whinge about a backlog of fixtures.
Only 2 sour notes :(, that Richie Browne is steping down as Fixture Secretary.I thought Richie was bang on in fairness to deal with an a nicer gent you will never meet. For those of ye who complain prepare for things to get a lot worse because of whats on the commitee now I cant see anyone doin as good a job.
Jp got a mention for winning his Junior caps in last seasons AGM minutes ,but him an Pa Connors also played out in the Cross with the Amatures against the USA close season an Pa was also selected for the Trianglular Competition in the Isle of Man this season, yet nothin said. When was the last time the Aul had 2 players capped at Junior level, let alone Amature level.

Heard Ballypheane would'nt be able to field half of what they had last season becuase of lads havin to head to Oz an Blighty to find work.As well as that there are a few headed up to Norrieland if I'm to belive my sources correctly.Danny Longs name was mentioned an another midfielder who was on the Oscar Traynor squad with some of our lads.Would be an excellent addition to the Gratts, but I'll wait an see what happens.;)
