Monk is good fun. Tony Shaloub is fantastic as Monk. I think he's won a bunch of awards for it.

Dexter? Yeah, it got mentioned a couple of pages back. A few of us are fans.

I watched an episode once with a few friends - one of them a big fan of it showing it to the rest of us for the first time. After it finished, one of the guys said, "I can see why it's on BBC 3." It was the kindest thing he could say about it.

The latest show I've got into is Deadliest Catch on Discovery, about fishermen in Alaska. Pretty interesting.

I'm a big fan. If you haven't already, watch the miniseries - it takes place just before season 1. I'm very happy that someone is actually making a show with an ending - there's a four season arc to BSG, which will wrap up in the new year. None of the usual limping on as the writers run out of ideas, the characters get stale and the ratings fall before an abrupt cancellation. No Lost-style meandering storylines that go nowhere, get dropped for no reason or are resolved by stupid twists because the writers have written themselves into a corner. No, Ron Moore, like the Cylons, has a plan.

Yeah seen it got it and season 1 off my sister. She has season 2 aswell but has lent it to a friend, I'll get it when the freind is finished with it.

PS Also recently finished season 4 of the Wire Great as usual. Apparently it has over taken soppranos as the most watch TV series in the States.

What ? When, where ? tell me more. (Please don't say its on FX, I don't have that ) I'm waiting (im)patiently for TG4 to show it. BY the way I noticed that Channel 6 in Dublin (available on NTL) seem to be showing it from the start on Thursday nights. So if you haven't seen it and don't want/can't afford to buy the box sets, here is your chance to catch it. I really doubt it will ever be bettered as a drama series. (BTW I notice the legendary Omar pops up in Gone Baby Gone.)

Grey's anatomy

Have gotten into this through living with the girlfriend, not a bad show at all if you can get over the ridiculous medical conditions their patients seem to have every episode and the obvious storyline rip offs from Scrubs that pop up every now and again.

I would even go so far and say I have a favourite character in Preston Burke :)

My two picks for best shows in last 10 years are Band of Brothers (as close to perfect tv as can get) & Six Feet Under.

Agree 110%, fantastic series, really well shot and great acting (esp. when most of the cast were unknown)... A great mini-series

A few I dom't think that were mentioned already

Arrested Devlopment
OZ
Huff

Oz is great, horrific in it's violence - almost too disgusting to watch at times - but compelling viewing for it's drama. One thing's for sure, I'd do what Ken Lay did at the prospect of spending federal time in the US if Oz is anything to go by.

Those Storyville documentaries that appear on BBC2 now and then(after Newsnight) I would highly reccomend.Last weeks featured a well known news reporter who videoed his life as he descented into Crack cocaine addiction was riveting albeit shocking in parts.
In fact most documentaries have me riveted.

I saw that too, I can't remember the guy's name, but it was tragic viewing, espcially when he was camcordering the break down of his marridge and his relationship with his children. Heart warming at the end when he was giving the colledge speech at the end telling everyone of the dangers of addiction but that no matter how low you go, it's never too late to turn it around.

Anyone see "A Dander with Drennan" on BBC2 on the weekends, sorry i cant remeber what night its on, but jeez its just plain weird
its about Ulster Scots culture, and this guy Drennan (who is clearly as mad as a hatter) wandering all over Antrim and the like meeting the other irish we dont talk about!!
Its very good, if you can decipher what the hell they are talking about

just got cancelled(or not renewed) by HBO, so I think you'll only have about 2 seasons to watch unless another cable station like Comedy Central picks it up, wich would be smart, I can't imagine it cost's that much to make.

Dexter is utterly addictive and on dvd. Entourage (Let's hug it out!), The Shield are both class shows and the new HBO series True Blood appears to be off to a good start.

I thought HBO was at its best with Rome, Oz, Deadwood and the Sopranos, Rome being my top favorite.

I didn't like the last series as much as the others so I'm hoping series 5 picks up.

The Sopranos is and always will be The Greatest T.V Programme in History.

Nah, my book says The Wire gets that accolade. Stunning stuff. Can't ever imagine it being bettered. (Season 5 was a little less perfect than the others, but still had a great ending.)

I'll raise your 2 as I am watching series 3 now. ;)
3rd series is the first one not based on the books. Jimmy Smit has been added as new character. So far so good.

One of my favourite shows & surprised not shown on Irish TV. ITV was also a strange choice for UK terrestrial TV.
