98/4. Couple of fours there. Should settle things.

Yes. As it stands the target is 128 assuming no further interruptions. The umpires will be reluctant to call the players off (or offer Ireland the light) with a result so close.

I think we are 20 runs ahead of target at present

Bugger 113/6 these guys need to put on 10
Poor Student

Do those two wickets leave us up the creek if the game ends before its time?
Sheridan

White gone! 113/6. McCallan in now. 15 needed off plenty.

They lost in a previous WC match v Bangladesh and there have beenm heavy rumours that the match was thrown as the Pakistan players had money on them losing

113-7 Ireland back to 9-2 on in betting.

Surely even with the wobble we're more likely that that to win?

One point to remeber is that your weakest batsmen come in last, the last 3 are bowlers primarily

They're saying that the game is likely to go the whole 50 overs on cricinfo - "They are unlikely to go off now. The light is getting no worse so it's through to the finish. Pakistan are looking bullish for the first time in a while ... it's tense" - does that mean we're back chasing 132 then?
Or is "the finish" still the 47 overs?

The finish is 47 overs, However there is no way it will go that far, either we will be bowled out or we'll score it with 3/4 overs to spare.

Is this going to be about the lowest scoring game ever?

No, just the way they were saying that it was now likely to be going to the finish sounded (to me, who doesn't know the technicalities) like they were going to have time to play the whole 50.
Sheridan
17/03/2007, 9:42 PM
They're still chasing 128 off 47. That's not going to change unless there's another interruption.
I don't think Ireland are going to do it...:(

How are group positions settled if teams are level on points?
Sheridan
17/03/2007, 9:44 PM
Net run rate. It's complicated, explain later.

Is this going to be about the lowest scoring game ever?
It's unusually low given the number of overs faced. Teams have been bowled out for 30 etc.

Why not? You think we'll be bowled out or just won't make it?

So 7 to get off 8 overs.
Another boundary would be massive...
The batters seem to be not doing anything daring at all. Like, at all at all at all... They must be sh!tting it...

5 more, not a lot but a wicket would be a disaster

5 runs needed with 3 wickets left and loads of overs,
Looks a certainty..........
123/7 5 more runs. I think they have it sheridan
Sheridan

If we lose a wicket we'll lose the game. Otherwise we'll be fine.
cavan_fan
17/03/2007, 9:51 PM
the thing about cricket is if you lose a wicket there is often a domino effect esp with the last few wickets, I'm feeling 50/50

Dave O'Leary approaches the crease...His daughter heads out the back garden to where the missus is hanging out the washing..."Mamm (washing...@Mamm)y, Daddy's taking a cricket shot" "Look, ya got me last time, but you're talking sh!te this time for sure..."
