Nah, I still think it's terrible. I'd prefer to just see them humilated. Bring back stocks and rotten tomatoes.

Don't think so,it's up to the ref to decide when the penalty has been completed, that was the keepers mistake. It was still the strikers first shot that spun in,just because the keeper got a touch doesn't mean the ball still can't go in.

no, but the keeper pushed it forward, so no goal - thats the way it used to be in shoot outs anyway

That was my understanding of it too, but from wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Penalty_shootout_(association_football)#Procedure) -
A decision in the 1986 World Cup led to the "Madrid rule" clarification of the penalty procedure. In the quarter-final shootout between Brazil and France, Bruno Bellone's kick rebounded out off the post and back into the goal off goalkeeper Carlos's back. Referee Ioan Igna gave the goal to France, and Brazil captain Edinho was booked for protesting that the kick should have been considered a miss as soon as it rebounded off the post. In 1987, the IFAB clarified Law 14, covering penalty kicks, to support Igna's decision
So the ref was correct to give a goal.

Cant really use wikipedia in an argument, please!
Actually read someone commented on this on yahoo that the keeper failed to stop the momentum of the ball so it should have stood - which seems like the best argument i have seen so far

Well, no - when wikipedia links in the rules of the game, it's a better argument than a random punter on Yahoo.

+1. The "wikipedia can't be trusted" line is a nonsense, the vast majority of content on Wikipedia is good enough to be used as a non-academic reference. If you have an issue with the Wikipedia article, check the references and correct it instead of knocking people who actually made an effort.
Grow up for god's sake, your posts make you look like a cross between Jay and Neil in the Inbetweeners.

No, Wikipedia is generally used as a reference to a point. It shouldn't be a reference as much as ramblings on a forum should be. It can be used individually to read up on something further, but so can The Star.
I read in The Star that foot.ie is rubbish. Does that make it so?
I have experienced people giving wikipedia references in their PhD thesis..

Did you not actually understand my post dfx-? I really don't think you did.
I'll check what Wikipedia says about understanding and get back to you..
Edit:
It is difficult to define understanding.
Sorry, I may not have. Or maybe I did. Wiki isn't sure :(
