Stay grounded , take a loan move to the championship in January, bang them in and get your starting place for Ireland

Don't rush off to Germany

You think that one of our most promising prospects in recent times would be better off at 17 moving to the Championship - the grinder of English football - instead of Germany, where they know how to treat promising kids?

I think Dortmund would be a better option for him than Bayern. He wouldn't get much more game time with Bayern than he would get with Spurs.
Anyway, there is very little to be found in German media about the alleged interest by either Bayern or Dortmund. Much less then when Bayern were (unsuccessfully) chasing Hudson-Odoi. Any German source writing about interest in Parrott is referring back to articles in British papers.

As opposed to getting a move to Germany and banging them in there?

It'd be a great move for him.
Your assuming he immediately gets into the first 11 in Dortmund I'm not

You're assuming equally that he gets into the first 11 at any championship side then?

Not even training with the first team today ahead of Olympiakos game. He will be playing for the under 19s so. Hopefully, this “demotion” is only related to the fact he’s preparing for a separate game tomorrow. Early worrisome signs

he's only 17. I guess it will be 2 years before he is fully up and running.
given the reports from reliable sources about interest from big german and italian clubs its obvious he is very highly regarded.

Not being smart but what reliable sources are you referring to? I've only seen the tabloid speculation.

On that tabloid speculation, I do enjoy the Dortmund link. Whilst they may well be, it's the most obvious club to attribute an interest to. Wondering how long it takes for Red Bull or Hoffenheim to be thrown into the mix.

He starts for the U19's at 2pm. Another three or four goals there would be timely.

I agree that there have been no reliable sources per se but was just saying at the weekend that the persistence of these rumours over the last year or more suggest that there must be some actual interest amongst some fairly reputable German clubs.

2 goals for Troy so far vs Liverpool in the FA youth cup, converting 2 penalties after being taken down for both of them. Good quality radio commentary here http://livesportsfm.co.uk/player.aspx or can watch on Liverpool tv.

He is back consistently training with the first team now, was name checked by Jose in most recent press conference, I am cautiously optimistic again of his immediate prospects for first team exposure. He will certainly get game time in Munich in their final CL group game which is a dead rubber

Bradley is a wonderful young player, glides across the pitch. He was involved in the north's u17 qualifier losses against Italy and Turkey in October, so he'd need to officially transfer with FIFA to play for us...

Irish born Dennis Cirkin is playing for Spurs...

Here are his 2 penalties from the FA youth cup. Anyone have his goal vs Olympiakos in youth league? Was supposed to be a peach first time outside the box, but can’t find it anywhere

Great news, even if it was just five minutes at the end. So currently we have SIX Premier League forwards! And here's something cool to think about - even if only Connolly, Obafemi and Parrott make it from the group coming through, then we'll be pretty much sorted for strikers until the qualifiers for the 2036 Euros start! Longer if Odubeko's performance for West Ham's U18s today is anything to go by

Would he have got on if it was 0-0 or 1-0?

Probably not, but it was the same for Connolly - he came on with a few minutes left when Brighton were 4-0 down to Man City. Mourinho probably took the chance to stick him out there and get a first impression of how he looks in the big league, hopefully with a view to using him a bit more. With any luck he'll get some good time in the FA Cup in the New Year.

I actually thought the more interesting part of it was that, even though the game was won at half time, he still only gave Parrott five minutes off the bench at the end. Could easily have given him half an hour to take a good look at him at EPL level. Makes me think it might have been more of a ploy to get him to sign a new contract than a suggestion that he's about to get any meaningful game time any time soon. Hopefully he gets a decent run out in the Champions League dead rubber game but even that's not a meaningful game really for Spurs.

irishfan86
10/12/2019, 6:07 AM
I was hoping Mourinho would give him a longer debut but no harm in a little taste to get the butterflies out (not that Parrott seems the type to be overawed). Then maybe it’s a start in a low stakes game, or 20 minutes while Spurs are comfortable, before earning his stripes from there.

Bottom line, Mourinho doesn’t strike me as a guy who will play Parrott for political reasons or to get the player to sign a new contract — if he’s giving him any game time, it’s because he’s at least curious to see how he does at this level — the fact Mourinho has that interest is all we can ask for and is hugely encouraging.

Not too surprising after he only got a token five minutes on Saturday. Hopefully a loan or even a permanent move away from Spurs in January, if he's not getting a decent run out in a dead rubber Champions League game, he hasn't got a hope of getting any decent Premier League game time any time soon.

If I was him I'd be steering well clear of the rumoured new contract offer.

If u dont take a new contract then likely he would be totally frozen out for all of next season and a season with no football at 18 would be a bit of a disaster

If he has a good agent he would be getting a move away sorted out.

Bringing on Wanyama with a few mins to go when they were losing is vintage Mourinho. Parrott hasn't a hope of getting any sort of regular football while Jose is at that club.

This. As skstu would do.

I'd be worried of him falling down the leagues, but he does look like one that has the ability to rise above that.

Only a day or two ago we heard rumours of german interest. Go To Europe Troy!

Yeah, easy to bash Mourinho but he's given Parrott more PL minutes in his two weeks at the club than Poch had anyway. Disappointing last night but Mourinho has more to consider than appeasing Ireland fans!

I'm basing my opinion on Mourinhos history. He doesnt trust young players. With Poch I did have some hope that he would be used eventually. The 5 mins Mourinho gave him points more towards Mourinho trying to look good which is what he always trys to do early days to win over the fans.

DeLorean
12/12/2019, 9:04 PM
I think that narrative about Mourinho is overplayed, not that it's untrue of course, but I think it's the same for most top managers who have taken over big clubs, where the remit is to win, win, win. Look at Guardiola at Man. City, Fodan gets a sniff every now and again and that's about it, even after impressing. Klopp has pretty much assembled a fully purchased XI at Liverpool, bar Alexander-Arnold. I didn't see too much criticism for him not using Ben Woodburn for example, an exciting forward in the same mold as Parrott.

Mourinho brought McTominay in out of nowhere, and continued to play Rashford consistently even with Ibrahimovic/Lukaku in the team. I think it'd take an injury crisis of significant proportions for Parrott to see proper game time at Tottenham in the near future, regardless of who the manager is. At least Mourinho has shown that he's on his radar though, I doubt he'd waste a sub option just to 'look good', not really his style regardless of it being early or late in his tenure.

13/12/2019, 12:34 AM
I think we should wait and see if Troy gets time in the Cup before writing off his chances under Mourinho.
