Horrendous tackle, in fairness. UCD is a great position now. Again.

Strange sort of strain to pull up like that. Not giving the ball back shows how irritated they are!!
In case you missed it.The red card tackle.Horrendous.

The Gods really have decided to get UCD through, even the ****ing corner flag coming to their aid :D

Second slovan player pulling up with cramp. This is epic :D

It's tricky but I reckon they're best served pushing for the away goal in this second half. It's worth too much for them not to and I suspect it'll be easier to score now than it will at the Bowl against 11.

Strange extratime putting this up during the game

Looking good for ucd a man up at half time. Thought that chip from langtry was heading in awhile ago

Excellent 1st 45! Didnt have to do much crazy chasing and closing so hopefully conserved a bit for the last 20 mins. When UCD put a few good passes together a great move and could be ahead if the chip over the keeper had been on target. Not sure if the keeper got anything on it or whether is was a good penoe shout. Love been able to hear the instructions from the sideline due to no commentary!

Even with the extra man I expect UCD to tire, but even still they were rarely under siege during that first half. A decent chance to score too.

It's still hard to call. The Slovan players are physically stronger than us and a level above us in terms of technique. We are playing fearlessly and will be galvanised by getting through the previous round. I'm hoping Slovan physically wilt as the match goes on.

Great stuff from UCD so far; a big bonus to have a man advantage - let's hope they don't do a Cork City.

Rumour from Pineapple is that the 2nd leg will be in Richmond Pk. and Slovan want 500 tickets.

They probably will, but are likely to have good subs on the bench.
UCD should keep trying to get an away goal. There is a goal in this game for them.

I'd still be playing conservatively enough. We can be carved open easily on the break. Nearly got caught a few times at home against Dudelange when the ball was lost in the last 3rd.

Too much dwelling on the ball in midfield. UCD need to play it quicker and not be caught in possession. Slovan are physically stronger.

That tackle is an assault. Player should get a life ban for that. No place for a potential career ending tackle against anyone. Roy Keanes tackle on Alfe-Inge Halland wasn't even that bad.

Bunch of young lads playing in the Irish second tier away to Europe regulars, its not surprising. Versus a team boasting a few capped players, bags of European experience and 2nd in the top tier. I think its a disservice to UCD to make a comparison imo. I agree though they could have pushed for a result with more ambition but the fear factor is not a surprise considering. Another deflected goal against an Irish club, we need all that good luck that isnt being used next Wednesday!

If it hadn't have gone in, it probably would have been a penalty. Unfortunate, but not unexpected.

The mitigating factor is that the tackle was too high to be a leg-breaker...

Probably is an unfair comparison. Just think that Slovan look ordinary at the back and that this is the best chance UCD will have in the tie. They deserve an away goal.

Oh well. We did our best. We played positively where we could. I think we started to fade more than them as time went on. The tie isn't dead but it's difficult to see us winning and keeping a clean sheet in Dublin.

Since Rovers won last Tuesday, despite some very good performances, there has been 5 defeats (which could be six) Not looking like a good year for the co-efficient.

Hearty performance by UCD but you could sense they were tiring towards the end. Indeed, looks like it'll be a very disappointing year for LOI clubs in Europe overall, unless Dundalk can turn their tie around. I do think there's a decent chance of that happening, however.

Just a shame when you see some of the other 'lesser Countries' getting results. Maybe last year was just one of those high mark peformanes in Europe and what we see this year and 2013 is the norm.

I know how important the coefficient is, but the manner of UCD's performance should raise a lot of spirits for any fan of Irish football in general. Their first inclination every time was to play the simple pass. It's so good to watch, yet it's not always the mo of many Irish teams (club or National) in the past.
They used the space effectively, and while they were obviously a bit toothless up top due to formation and a difference in class, midfield and defence were excellent in possession.
Really really good to see.

Dundalk streets ahead of any other club in the league at the moment. Let's hope they can do it next week.
