Oh it'll be a tough game no doubt, be good to get it out of the way early anyway because nobody will fancy playing them out there
They lost a few players,if ye have any ambition on going up ye should beat them

Don't understand the fascination with Caherconlish???!!! everyone tipping them? they only came up from 1b and from what i saw of them last year they are a handy side but I really don't think they are promotion candidates from 1A. I think it's between Mungret, Shannon Town, Park, Granville and Charleville (hopefully)

Mungret from what I have heard are struggling. They have lost a few players. I'd definitely have Caherconlish up there purely for the fact they have been getting promoted for about 4 or 5 years on the trot now have they not? A lot of teams have a chance at the moment and there is probably only about 2 or 3 that won't have a chance.

I'll say this, no easy away games in this div. Two trips to Shannon, The Lish, Charleville, Croom, Balla away, Paradise, The Lodge, Rathuard, Mungret.... And thats before I even mention 'Fortress Glenbrook' ;)

Did you notice that the link on limerick soccer ( http://www.limericksoccer.com/links.htm ) to the Granville team website is actually a link to a team in England? Just noticed that there.

Cant see Charleville getting promoted,ye lost too many games in 1a last season and have had some poor results in pre-season friendlies,Mungret lost 4or5 of there best players so count them out aswell and Shannon town are harmless
Its between Granville and Geraldines for me,i dont know too much about the lish but they might be up there come the end of the season, best of luck to all teams

Im basing that on yer performance last season in premier

So you are basing your opinion on pre-season and on last year? You obviously haven't a clue what you're on about. You can have a rubbish pre-season and still do well in proper season, and you can hockey teams pre-season and have a rubbish season. Pre-season is about getting fit, nothing else. And if you are basing your opinion on how a team did last season then that's even more idiotic because nearly every club gets new players so that argument makes no sense!

lankyboy26
15/08/2011, 9:16 PM
It's PRE-SEASON. I'm of the opinion that our first 11 is as good as any in this division, and obviously we haven't been using our strongest players in every game. We played Athlunkard twice in pre-season, beat them 8-3 the first time and lost 4-1 the second time so how can you draw conclusions from that?! And yes we lost to Summerville and to Kilmallock, so what??? They're premier teams

I agree we were poor last year, there is no denying that. But I honestly think we have improved from last year. Couple of new faces. New manager. New pitch. New sense of optimism.

Deadly man your rising a few of the lads now aren't you!! I have to agree 100% with Lanky, pre-season results are insignificant next to attaining fitness. We have had a very strong pre-season, but are by no means getting carried away. Points on the board? Zero...

I think Shannon Hibs have a great chance of going up, they play great football and have two great wingers in brian mc gorrian and jamie egan. My other choices for promotion would be gerldines and mungret who will be there or there abouts.

People said the same about them last season and look where they finished... It's impossible to predict at the moment except that you would expect the usual teams to be up there i.e. Granville, Shannon Town, Park, Mungret. We had a brand new team last year practically and finished 4th so we would expect to push on this season, that is what we are aiming towards, promotion

Bayern Munchies
16/08/2011, 8:27 PM
Still far too early to be saying how good or poor each team is going to be especially when it's still only pre-season and a lot of lads have to get back to fitness and gel into new teams. It will be a very competitive league this season and a lot of teams could fancy themselves for promotion.

If I had to tip two teams at the minute to go up it would be Granville and Geraldine's, but as I said it should be a very interesting league this season :ball:
