Friendly result: Granville 1-0 Cals.

Good game played in storm like conditions. Some lovely football at times with the majority coming from the home side. Our keeper Kevin Mc Glinchey did make one top class save in the 2nd half. We hit the bar three times before Neil Mc Gourty slotted home the winner early in the second half. A great workout for both teams. Thanks a million to Cals and especially midnight for helping set the game up.
Best for us: Stuart Byrnes.
No bother lads really enjoyed must admit was super save where ok for. A 2A sid

I'll not be naming everyone, but we have a good mix of youth and experience. Also several new faces. We'll be up there. Trust me ;)

Impressive result alright, i actually wasn't there myself but after talking to the lads they said they were 4-0 up after 20 minutes and the game was pretty much over then. I don't think Athlunkard were poor, from what ive been told We just started very well, lotta new young lads this season who are very talented, we are hoping to make a strong challenge for promotion this season

Ya signed a couple. Just training at the moment no friendlies played yet. We have a new manager and should be playing on our new pitch too so hopefully do well in the league as well.

Most years when you get the forms you also get a set of provisional fixtures for the season if I remember correct.

im tipping pike b to have a decent season in this division ,going about their business quietly and will add few players to an already decent squad and in fairness to hanna he,s getting good turnout for training

Especially this year. Last year Summerville and Wembley stood out from the off, but this year is so much tougher to predict I reckon. Once the ball starts rolling we shall see. Are Fairview B still about then??

Surely its quality over quantity at this stage lads. I mean its all well and good having 20 odd training but if they are bleedin' useless then they aren't gonna be much good!

I remember years when you'd arrive down for pre-season and there would be a massive crowd there...you'd do the hard running and get down to a few five asides or whatever and then there are lads falling over their own feet or the football.
A small nucleus of quality is better than a load of sh*te!

Jofspring
21/07/2011, 4:33 PM
A lot of teams get huge numbers in pre-season and by the time the season comes they are down to 15 or 16 players. A lot drop out because they are not up for the commitment, some aren't up for the training and some have other reasons. Having a committed 15 or 16 is the main thing to have along with a bit of quality. If you have that you won't go far wrong in a season.

Sometimes though having really low numbers can be very disheartening, especially for the management. Nothing worse than going down training week after week to find 9 or 10 players only down.

Ya but they are very hard to come by...sometimes you just have to take the fella who shows up every year and has his own gloves.

Granville and Mungret will be the teams to beat although i heard Mungret lost a few players
Ger Bourke is going to the Boro and Keith McNicholas to Fairview
thats what i was told anyway,1a should be very tight this season with Pike B in there aswell
Best of luck to all teams

I dont see how Granville can or will be good enough unless they have signed a lot of players. Mungret, Charleville and maybe Geraldines would be my 3 against the field.
