The pressure was on as, had he not scored, it would pretty much have been the last kick of the game in light of the fact that over five and a half minutes of the additional six were already up. Great finish under pressure.

Spot on Danny, it was all or nothing. What do you reckon, Walsall? :D

Even if Brady does play in Cardiff I'd be reluctant to have him anywhere near set pieces. He can obviously hit them well in training and friendlies when there is no pressure on him but he's awful when it counts.

Brady took his penalty in the shoot-out very well also, smacked it to the keepers left right into the corner. Hendrick came off at the start of extra time so he got a good run out. Kevin Long was fouled for the penalty which Chris Wood converted.

Exact same penalty as the one he took against France

A pity he couldn't get the ball above head height all night against Serbia.

Don't think he had a free kick v Serbia?

I think maybe he is better when the pressure is really on perhaps?

Anyhow the video has been deleted so I found another for us to admire, the wall broke a bit early but
a couple of big lads seemed to do their best to block it.

5.16 Robbie v Chelsea, great shot of it.

Good distance in the knee slide there too looks long enough to qualify for the Olympics I would say!

That's a relief. It was very foolish of him. He needs to cut out petty crap like that (and kicking balls away) as he's one of our best players and we simply can't afford to be having him suspended.

The current system doesn't suit Brady. He was anonymous compared to his colleagues in midfield against Wales. Does he have the ability to play Wes' role? Probably. That would be my criticism of last Monday,

I think the issue is that he doesn't seem to know where he is to play. He was pinned on top of Christie for much of the first 20-30 minutes. It was frustrating.

I think he has the ability to play Wes' role but needs to be coached into it and afforded the experience of playing there.

Well not much news coming out on this, I'd guess there is some sort of damage but they are not too clear on what the problem is?

Is no news good news or bad news? I'd guess at the moment they can't determine precisely what the damage is which
suggest perhaps it is not the worst? I dunno, I guess I'll have to be more patient!

If it was ligament damage would they know by now?

I see he went off injured at the weekend in the first half clutching his calf. At least it doesn't look like his knee was involved and appears to have been a tight hamstring https://www.thesun.ie/sport/football/2917723/burnley-boss-sean-dyche-eases-fears-over-republic-of-ireland-star-robbie-bradys-latest-injury-setback/

It was a shocker of a tackle - very, very cynical. It could have been a yellow but it was worth the red!

Back in the starting line up today for Burnley away to Leicester. Looks like he's playing right midfield, with Hendrick in the middle.

Brady would be an improvement on the left or even in the 8 position if he got some fitness and form.

Played left midfield. Didn’t get up to much. Hasn’t played a lot of football over last couple of seasons and from what I saw today he did nothing to force Mick’s hand about a recall. Hopefully he can get more game time in the coming weeks and make a compelling case to be brought in for the Denmark game.

It's a little harsh maybe. He showed nice control and calmness with tody little balls for the assists. What he has is a composure in the middle of the pitch that most of our players dont have. Should definitely be on bench as an attacking option

I'd be inclined to pick him and hope he has another lille performance. I was just trying to say that there are assists like a lovely through ball or a pull back, and assists like being the last player to touch the ball before a long range deflected shot. Brady's were more of the latter variety on Saturday.

In as much as he happened to have the ball just before they scored kind of assist.

I'm a Brady fan but he really hasn't been up to much the past two seasons. I'm not writing him off and I know he's had a bad run of injuries -- but I understand why Mick has been leaving him out. One thing I will say is that given set pieces are so important to us, we really need to have one of Brady or Hourihane on the pitch at all times. Wasn't keen on Mick leaving Hourihane out of the starting lineup for the Swiss match. Having Whelan take corners for example made them a hell of a lot less dangerous.

He has enough quality to come good again if he can get fitness and a run of games. Still 27.

He's on the bench today for Burnley, while average left back- Erik Pieters- fills in left midfield against Sheffield United.

On the Burnley side, there's a rare start for Kevin Long. McGoldrick, Egan and Stevens start for Sheffield United.
