Caherdavin rang the LDMC today at 5pm to say their pitch was unplayable, but were told it will be up to the ref to make the call.
So we met as normal and travelled to the Greenhills and true enough the pitch was under water, so the ref called it off.
In fairness, you cant blame the LDMC for any of this, coz who's to know if the team that make the call to say their pitch is unplayable, could be trying to pull strokes with maybe having players injured or unavailable etc;;
plus the ref gets some money for calling the game off....

Shannonman - game won't be going ahead v Dromore cos of the pitch is it, or what is the story?
Abbeyvale - agree about not blaming the LDMC, due to team's wanting it to be called off as they might be missing players
Dromore 3 - 1 Boro
Terrible conditions. Pitch cut up very badly making it difficult to play ball. Dromore went ahead with a well taken goal. Boro dominated first half with the aid of a strong wind and had 2 great opportunities to score... 2 super saves from the Dromore keeper. Boro deservedly equalised near half time, good save from the keeper, but the rebound fell to the Boro striker.
Second half a different story. Dromore began to get on top, and got a second goal fairly early in the second half. Then proceeded to miss a host of chances, three most notably... a header from 2 yards out that went off the bar, and over the line but the ref said it hadnt crossed the line. Also missed two one on ones. Eventually got the 3rd with ten mins left, and for the last 5 Boro pressed but didnt look like scoring.
Big result. Its becoming squeaky bum time towards the bottom. Two from Croom Herbertstown Dromore and Balla. Maybe even Boro as they have player 19 games...but they should be safe

No nothing to do with the pitch...I was told that it is written in the rules that no club can be forced to play two midweek matches unless they apply too.

Oh right, fair enough. That's understandable. Two matches in two days is a fairly busy period alright. Dromore still have heard nothing about it though, as far as Dromore are concerned it's on... thats all.

nearly as good as the clare league jokes :p ... even the mighty avenue will have played 3 games in a week come this sunday .. every division always has teams playing extra games midweek even in clare .. teams just have to get on with it and play them i'm sure players would rather be playing games than training anyway ... tough on shannon town but unfortunatly they have to live with it ..

Its not re-fixed yet,
As regards us going up, well the way we see it is, we have 5 games left and if we win them all we are gauranteed at least a play-off for 2nd place, so thats our aim.

If you end up with 47 points you will win the division not to mind get promoted. I reckon 41/42 points could get a team promoted in second spot. Might seem far fetched now but wait and see...........................

Both teams with depleted squads. Poor game. Good result for Dromore.
Heard it was Croom 0-0 Caherdavin - can this be confirmed?
Anybody know score in Balla game?
That put's Dromore and Croom level on points. Dromore have a goal difference of -7 compared to Croom -20. If both teams end up on same points does it go to goal difference or a play-off?

Lets be honest Shannonman, I think ye had one effort on target in the whole game, where as we had numerous, hitting the bar, cleared off the line, great saves (by you) and a looping header that could have dropped in, plus others, so I don't really think ye can complain about the end result.

In fairness, they went 1 up midway through the first half which was evenly contested, in which we hit the bar but other than that there wasn't too many chances.
The second half was a different story, we scored a pen on the hour (which was a definate pen) and had numerous other chances to seal it, but eventually did when we got the winner with 5 mins to go, where as Shannon didnt have one effort on target in the second half (that I can remember), so even Shannonman will tell you we deserved the 3pts.
There were 2 sent off (one from each team), Shannon player for a two footed tackle who was already on a yellow and a Star player for retaliation for the two footed tackle, but in fairness I thought the ref a had a decent game.

Thats it...its the fact that there was a couple of minutes to go and how soft the goal was from our side...I didn't think the ref was very bad...he got and took alot of abuse but he is generally a good ref, A few little boiling points and two red cards that there is no point debating as they are not going to change.
We have to beat Caherdavin tomorrow night which doesn't really change our thinking as we would have went out to win anyway.
I'm not debating that on chances ye should have won Abbey its just the manner and timing of the goal that hurt.

Think Balla had only 9 players against Charleville, were beaten 3nil in the end but played good football regardless
Ya its not looking good for Balla...They had 7 players and their 2 managers had to play. Both signed at the beginning as backup..Looksl ike they might play more games than they thought. If Croom and Dromore continue their form then Balla would be favourites for the drop.

Caherdavin must be sickened after loosing this game...I felt when Shannon made the obvious decision to move Gerry Kelly to centre forward, they would get the winner.....Thats exactly what happened....Davin centrehalves not able for him..
A great goal by a great goal scorer in fairness...My team have been on the receiving end many the time..
C'davin actually had a chance to wrap it up 2 mins before when Shannon keeper saved brilliantly from Ger Myles..
Only negative was all Shannons attacks came from long throws...Very Rory Delap and Stoke like...But if it works !!

The throw got us the first goal and it is a serious weapon...we have lads who can play ball but when you have that at your disposal your not going not use it because its not pretty.
But your right about Gerry has always scored goals and those goals this season could be what send us up.

I was going to say that it was an awful game to watch. Ball was in the air alot nerves played a part too. One thing I will say is I thought the referee had a great game handled everthing well, he is probably the best ref in the league.

On a diff note, how will the promoted teams do in Prem next year, will they need much strengthening or do they have good enough teams/squads?

Absolutely, whoever goes up this season will be playin for merely survival, early points on the board are crucial, plus an honest hard working and training squad of players... what tends to happen when 1a sides go up, a couple of poor results at the start of season, players lose interest, its hard to keep trainin tue, thurs every week then going out being stuffed sunday mornin by the like of pike and fairview. with a favourable fixture list you could have 9/ 10 points picked up in the first few weeks.. It takes a big effort for the entire season, any teams that do go up this yr will have to strenghten significally, albeit premier football outside of the top 3or 4 are generally poor!!
albeit premier football outside of the top 3or 4 are generally poor - don't know if I would agree with this but generally the difference between the two leagues is the pace at which the game is played and the fitness levels. The faster a side copes with this the better they do. Best of luck to the teams that get promoted. avoid relegation in the first year and build from there.

IF we go up we will need to strenghten big time have to have a squad that's not only committed but can play a bit as well. We have trained harder this season compared to any other season and that won't drop next season we have a management team in place who will actively seek to bring in new players. But he previous post hit the nail on the head. Have to try and get early points consolidate somewhat and hope then you can win your home games against the other teams in the bottom and anything you get away from home is a bonus....still four games to go though!!!

i think there are 2 big differences between the permier league teams and the teams that come up.
1.Fitness levels are an awful lot better than they are generally speaking in 1a, some teams like Kilmallock had that when they joined the premier division, others like ourselves really struggled earlier in the season due to a poor pre season program and if you don't get some points on the board early its very hard to keep lads interested.
2.Taking of chances,in 1a just say on average you have 7 or 8 chances to score every game and usually its poor finishing that lets you down.In premier you are lucky to get half that ammount and with the same poor finishing you don't score many goals also the teams you are playing against are a lot more clinical than teams outside the premier division.Strangely so far this year we haven't been the worst goalscorers but when you let in a lot more than you score your in trouble.
personally i think Star and Shannon will go up with star being better equipped for the premier league
