its gonna be hard work for him to force his way into the starting central midfield ahead of Bowyer and Carsley, will be a good test to see how good he really is. Hope it goes well for him

Made his debut after 83 mins coming on for Lee Carsley! Was one of 4 players making his City debut along with Lee Bowyer, Hamuer Bouazza and Scott Sinclair.

Was played out on the left wing. He did alright again considering how poor the team played overall. Hopefully he'll start the next game.

Hopefully he'll start the next game.

Which is against Sheffield Wednesday (Tuesday's games apart) and will be live on Sky TV. Hope it's Wednesday 3 (Potter hat-trick) Birmingham 2 (Fahey brace) ;)

5/1 to score anytime.

I'd have some of that if I had a credit card!

He's not going to score and I don't expect him to score anything in the championship this season.

He'll drop out of the first team before long, then when Birmingham get promoted he'll get offloaded on loan to some crappy SPL side where he'll continue to look awful before getting released on a free and rejoining pats.

You really do have the most unlistened to and unwelcomed opinion on this whole website!

He only telling truth in way really...

Look I for one would love see him turn good but there have been many people on here saying league of Ireland players are the best thing ever and yet most them turn out be nothing but ordinary..

If I was betting man I would agree with Ciaran over him making it too big time

But as I say hope im wrong

Im listening to the game on the radio. Fahey doing very well, Carsley was trying to claim the goal but McFadden got the final touch.

Played the full 90 mins tonight, fair play to him, I thought it might have taken him a bit longer to force his way into the team.

Optimistic as ever Ciarán, huh? Go back to talking about the merits of Ian Harte who's been doing so well this season.

I expect Fahey to do well, maybe not Premiership standard, but I think he'll do well in the Championship. And when he does, I'll take great pleasure in reminding you about this post.

You might not like hearing it but who do you think'll be right on Fahey in a few months time? I'd love if he proved me wrong but I have no belief in him.

Have you ever said anything positive about an Irish player since you joined the forum? Your the Victor Meldrew of Foot.ie :D

B'ham hadnt won in four before last night so good to see him part of the winning side, even if it was just Derby at home. Hopefully he'll hold down a place there now.

Some comments from Birmingham fans on other forums

"He looked good, man of the match for me"

"Fahey looked good. Was everywhere and sprayed some lovely passes about. One awesome 60yrd crossfield diagonal ball that Bouazza messed up."

"
Fahey looked excellent tonight; some good passing and an excellent corner along with some good movement - he was also full of running, which was good.

Ciaran - heres a crazy thought but have you ever seen Fahey play? I can't say i've seen a huge amount of him (mostly Pats matches on tv) but have to say he always looked a class act in the LOI but again wouldn't say i've seen enough of him to make the sort of absolute statements you've been making...

Just a thought...

Debut boy Fahey helps Blues back to their winning ways (http://www.birminghammail.net/birmingham-sport/birmingham-city-fc/2009/01/28/debut-boy-fahey-helps-blues-back-to-their-winning-ways-97319-22799079/)

KEITH Fahey spoke of his relief in helping Blues get back to winning ways – and finally making his bow.
The midfielder signed from St Patrick’s Athletic for £300,000 was given his starting debut by manager Alex McLeish last night.
Red tape, suspension and postponements had made it a frustrating few weeks for Fahey.
But he was accommodated against Derby County in the centre of the park, with Lee Bowyer moving to the right flank.
“From my own point of view, it was a bit difficult. It was my first game at this level and it took me a while to find my feet,” he said.
“But it was just good for me to finally get out on the pitch.
“I’ve been here for a month now and wasn’t able to play at first, it’s been on-going.
“I’ve been training hard and it was just good to get out there.
“To play in the team as well with the likes of Lee Bowyer and Lee Carsley, it was brilliant.”
Fahey outlined his role, saying: “The manager wanted me to drive on and get forward and not really worry too much about getting back because Lee Carsley will always sit.
“But towards the end it didn’t work out like that, I was up and down. You have to do it at both ends.”
Reflecting on the 1-0 win, Fahey said: “I think maybe at the end we made it hard for ourselves, but we had a little spell when we went 1-0 up so we probably could have killed them off.
“After the goal we seemed to settle down and started to knock it around a bit.
“We need a bit more of that from the beginning.”
“We need to start winning games, home and away,” Fahey added.
“It’s important as I think the fans are getting a bit itchy at the moment. We will just keep plugging away.”

So it should be Keith.

Great news about Fahey, I hope Pats have a few beneficial clauses in the contract yet to kick in.

I was very impressed with what I saw with Mooney, O Donovan and completely in awe with Hoolahan in the EL. I learned after they secured their moves away that dominating the EL is more a testament to how poor quality said league is rather than how good a player they were and also how easy it is to up your game for a couple of big European games a year when you're largely uncompetitive for the rest of the season.

Maybe Fahey will be the exception but I doubt it, say I don't understand "football" all you like if it makes you feel better, we'll see who's right in a few months time.

Wes Houlahan and O Donovan are both playing at Championship level and doing reasonably well. What about Readings 2 main strikers that have come from the League of Ireland, Doyle and Noel Hunt arent bad are they??
To make a statement like the one you made about Fahy when u have admitted yourself that u have only seen him play briefly shows that you are just basically a wind up merchant and only looking for a bit of attention. You have proven plenty of times on this forum that your knowledge of football is very poor

You have no idea about football and one thing for sure you are consistent in proving this. Do you spend time on other sports forums contributing to them too pretending you know something about them? I bet you have never attended a football game in your life? I watched Fahey play yesterday and he was one of the best players on the pitch and once he settles in he will be better. As for Hoohalan in particular he is doing as well as anyone in the Norwich team.

I never disagree with anyone on other soccer forums I just find this one especially close minded. It overrates the EL to ridiculous heights and seems completely oblivious to the sport outside of here and the UK.

what are u talking about? we talk about IRISH NATIONAL TEAM here. sadly because of a mentality in irish culture our football culture is focused in british football(at age 8 all u ever hear is trials for an english club), hence english football comes up on here generally because thats where our players happen to play for the most part.

Au contraire Ciaran I think you'll find the LOI supporters are far more open minded than the rest in here, and generally have a decent knowledge of football worldwide. I've yet to read anyone claim that Fahey should play at a higher level than Birmingham, or indeed that anyone else in the LOI did. At most 10/15 people claimed he should be in the Ireland squad, at least as many LOI supporters (myself included) said he shouldn't be (at least until he proves himself).

The fact you never argue elsewhere kinda backs the point being made about you being here solely to wind up people (which is your right). The fact you only ever seem to read posts that disagree with you is another.

If you haven't got the will power to voluntarily ignore a poster's ramblings then the ignore option doesn't make that much difference, as other exasperated posters will quote Ciaran and you'd end up reading his posts anyway.

Some of the stuff I've read from people talking about La Liga, Serie A or the Bundesliga on here would make me seriously question that. I remember during Euro 2008 someone on here saying that Peter Crouch was a better player than Zlatan Ibrahimovic and 4 or 5 agreeing with him and I recall thinking that not even Sky Sports would say something so absurdly pro-premiership as that.

Maybe u should stop using this forum so if u think its so bad

I think we should start an "Everybody Ignore Ciaran" movement (started by a sign up thread). Get as many posters as possible to sign up.

Don't respond to Ciaran, don't quote him, just completely ignore 100% of his posts.

I am sure some of the regulars would be up for it. Once completely ignored he will either leave or see that his muppetry no longer garners a response, it certainly never merits comment in my opinion.

Thoughts?
