View Full Version : Keith Fahey
Don't normally read threads in this section but I find it amazing how many of ye "remember him well from when he played with Pats" now that he has scored a vital goal for Ireland.

Craig Gardner's been given a straight red against Wigan. Should give Fahey an opportunity to win a starting place in the next few weeks.

Anyone watching the Arsenal game today see how he played today? He did assist on their goal.

you sure about that? According to Sky Sports, it was Ferguson with the assist
<EDIT>
BBC have given the assist to Fahey

Watched about 10mins of the game and it was a lovely cross from Fahey from the sideline, right to the head of some 2m tall player on the edge of the box. Not a lot of power in the header but it was an Arsenal goalkeeper. Carr still playing, he looks sharp enough.
it was Faheys assist and it was a super cross from the left, cut inside on his right and delivered a cross right onto the head of Zigic. Header was well placed.

You jinxed him. Carr was at fault for Chamakh's goal (bizarrely, both players pulled out of a 50/50 and the Moroccan capitalised).
Also Zigic is at least 3m tall.

First premier league goal for Keith.

Stoke were 2 - 0 up, Delap the only Irish stoke player.
Glenn Whelan comes on for Stoke.
Fahey chest down a ball on the edge of the box and smacks it into the far corner.
Brimingham got another goal to level it, good cross, not sure who provided it, could have been Fahey.
Is that Faheys second of season?

Assist was by Stephen Carr, was a good cross.

I would say so.
I think that was his (Faheys) first goal, maybe first Premiership goal.
The mods can always merge it with the main Fahey thread, I think it was worthy of a headline in the forum, makes it easier to sort out the important stuff form the less important ramblings :) (like this)

Wilson on with 5 mins to go, now Walters on in the final minutes.
Quite a few Irish on the pitch, with Carr Delap Whelan etc..

He's not going to score and I don't expect him to score anything in the championship this season.
He'll drop out of the first team before long, then when Birmingham get promoted he'll get offloaded on loan to some crappy SPL side where he'll continue to look awful before getting released on a free and rejoining pats.
he did score, twice. Fair play to the lad. But I stand by the second part of my prediction. He won't last at Birmingham, he'll never be a regular premiership player and he'll never earn an Irish cap. Wait and see. ;)

andy gray actually said something right for once. he got his name right.
Super strike and good old andy noted how he pulled it away from the defenders to ensure they couldn't get a block on it, which also meant it went to the corner.

I don't know why it's so hard. We never had to put up with Kenny CunNINGham, or Gary KellY
Fahey was dropped after the WHam result where he started. So after last night, you would think he should be back in the XI at the wkd. B'ham could be in for a difficult season this year. Def wont repeat anything like last year.

I think they will be comfortable enough. Results have been more mixed than last year as they seem to be picking up wins and losses where normally they'd have drawn, but they still look good.

They played very well against Stoke. I was worried for a while!!
seemed to be booed by the home fans when his name was called out before the game today. Very quiet performance.

Why the booing?
thats what i was wondering. Im not sure. Its the first time ive seen Brum and Fahey play in a while. Possibly they dont feel he should be in the starting lineup.

I wouldn't agree that was a quiet performance. When he got the ball he almost always did something intelligent with it. He tracked back very well for the whole game as well. Regardless, ever Brum player who finished that game was going home a hero. Foster was unbelievable.

That'd be odd. He came on in the Stoke came for Beausejour, who'd been poor, and grabbed the goal.
AFAIK, he's started all the games for them in that position since. Anyway, as long as McLeish keeps picking him, he should be fine. I think McLeish is the kind of manager who won't change things if it's going well but will if it's going badly.

John O'Shea and Darron Gibson last season. Same competition.
However, Carr must be the first Irish captain to win something since Keano?

Delighted for both of em. So glad that the Brum won. The media **** fest over how great this Arsenal team really is was starting to get on my nerves. The guardian thought Arsenal just had to turn up and the trophy was theirs.

The media **** fest over how great this Arsenal team really is was starting to get on my nerves. The guardian thought Arsenal just had to turn up and the trophy was theirs.I'm an Arsenal fan and couldn't believe the media coverage. They can be a fantastic team sometimes but they have a soft core and can be got at. They have thrown away winnining positions against Newcastle, Spurs, Sunderland, Wigan, Shaktar and a few others this year. That's not the hallmark of winners and the media should have copped on to that. They have a habit of not winning games that they have controlled. Man City at home is a great example.
Brum put it well up to them today and got what they deserved for their first half performance. Well done Keith. I have no great regard for Carr. He could easily still be playing for Ireland.
Fahey subbed off right on the 83 minute mark. I've never been that impressed with him but I must say he had a great game today.

SHOCKER -The BBC commentator actually pronounced his name right!!!
Arsenal without Fabregas and Van P are very average.
