The LOI was quite poor on last years release and badly needed the patch along with the facepack. Is there anyone doing a facepack for this years one?

That weekend is the last weekend of the LOI season.. It's a pity that it'll be out of date for the LOI as soon as you buy it though. Hopefully they have the proper promotion and relegation formats in it which have been wrong in previous years.

I don't think the FAI help out when they change it every year.

It would take all of ten minutes to come onto a site like this and find out what the P&R format is this season and what it will be like in successive seasons.
For a game that prides itself on realism, it has defiinitely been lacking for the LOI.
Hopefully, they don't base relegation on what the BBC put in their table (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/irish/eircom_prem_tab/default.stm)!

I'd be quite happy with that!
Anyone else think FM has gotten too detailed in recent years? I'd be quite happy with an option to turn off a load of the extras and basically play the 01/02 version (best one, IMO) with the updated squads, leagues, etc.

Generally I just ignore the media questions unless I want to use them for something special.. All the questions get very annoying after a while, with any answer likely to upset someone on the team.

Research has been done since the beginning of the year and for the first time somebody was appointed as head researcher for the LOI. This will be the most accurate the league has ever been in the game.

They will be humanesque figures. There is also going to be press conferences, a revamped transfer system and other things that haven't been announced yet.
I'll be sticking with the 2D table, but as long as they fix the transfer market I'll be happy. Last year's was rubbish to be fair, players like Steven Taylor of Newcastle going for 30m, clubs that only have a transfer budget of 7m signing 5 7m+ players in the transfer window, etc

Aye I remember that, In mine Aaron Lennon went to Juventus for 32million. He had decent stats at the start of the game last season, then as soon as it was patched they stripped him and a good few players of there better stats. Ballack went from great to average, struggling to beat Michael Johnson(I bought him from Man City) for a place in midfield, in the second season.

There's only so many times you can tell the media you're hopeful for the forthcoming match or tell the team not to get complacent at half time. That whole section needs broadened.
Anyone else think 3D match engines will ruin the game- it's going to slow everything down, the match engine running it will disrupt everything else.

Yeah and they let you 'view' the incident again. Because it's obviously easy to comment on a handball incident that happened to 2 armless blobs on a pitch about 50 feet directly below me....

or when it says "the general consensus is that your team should have won a penalty" so you say it was a bad decision from the ref and it turns out the ref was right and you get a fine!

Easy there Machiavelli.
I think they're getting a tad greedy myself. No one really thinks they should put a completely new version of the game out in Autumn every year surely? I think I'd prefer if they just made a really really good effort at updating everything in the current incarnation accurately. I say this, mostly, because the game will be patchy as FcuK when they release it anyway and they'll spend a few months scouring forums and creating a comprehensive patch to set everything right. I think I'd be happier to have them wait until the new year to release this - even until the European Transfer Windows end - as long as they were sure that it'll be complete.
Still, the best part of the game for me is when you walk into a club for the first time and start bringing players and staff in.
I can't wait for this game.

Hopefully the game will include the Bundesliga and Italian league restructuring.
Looking forward to this. I have an odd tick when it comes to FM/CM. I only buy it for seasons that start in even numbers, ie. FM07 started in the 2006/07 season. I don't like it when the Euro and Worl wualifiers have already started.

Personally I am really looking forward to this years version. I like the idea of 3d match engine, I play the game online with my uncle/cousin and when we play each other it would be a lot more enjoyable to see the action and have more control of what is happening, not to mention it would be a lot easier to see what your team is doing wrong and who is playing poorly.
I have played the 2008 version to death, I have re-edited over and over again. I made the Irish League and the Eircom League super powers, giving all teams big crowds, big stadiums, good facilities, big money etc. After about 3 or 4 seasons the IL and the LOI start doing quite well in Europe and biggish players start coming over eg Nihat, Shaun Wright Phillips, Crouch etc. (not quite the Gerrards or Ronaldos but that’s down to co-efficients not being good enough yet).
The only thing I find annoying is I cannot edit, prize money or TV deals. This hinders the income for the clubs in these two leagues. I have been considering putting an AIL into the SPL along with Rangers and Celtic.
Anyway, I’ve went on with myself quite a bit. Looking forward to the added dimension of 3d games.

Cheers for the link, downloaded it last night and have enjoyed playing it. But holy f*ck it takes ages to load up a game. Just downloaded the small vanilla version but still takes well over 30 mins to load up each time I play. Is this the same with you or am I doing something wrong? My PC is fairly fast for FM 2008 and all other programs so don't know whats wrong.

5 minutes to load it up for me on my laptop. I flew through a few months as Scotland manager. I see there is now a British nationality in the game that can be gained by players playing there.. I'm interested to see if I'll be able to cap a few foreigners playing in the English premier league for Scotland when they gain their British nationality. Haven't had a chance to do a club game yet but I'll get around to it.. No LOI on the demo unfortunately.. :(

Soft Anchor has overloaded and crashed so no one can get on at the moment. SI are attempting to fix it, absolute jokeshop to be fair as some people who actually got their game fully installed have had it crash their entire system as well

Yeah, using the online activation thingy. It's only 34% installed at this stage after 50 minutes or so.

You're in for a nasty surprise.. I used the STEAM online installation and my code worked fine then. Then when I went to actually play the game it asks you for the activation code again using the SoftAnchor software that Jebus mentioned and that's where their server lets you down.
I went and installed the game using the regular method then and it still needs you to activate online using the SoftAnchor programme. The phone number they give you as an alternative to the online activate gives an 'out of office' message back.
Shambles.
