I'd be up for an online game, as long as you can pick teams outside Ireland. I HATE managing in Ireland.

Suppose we should make a seperate thread for the online game then if we can get some takers. I live in U.S so wonder if region differences will have any problems other than slow connection. We can use a VPN tunnel like hamachi to set up a virtual lan. Also we'd need to agree on a division. Coca-cola championship is my favorite. but League one, Scandanavia, holland are a lot of fun as well. Ireland is too frustrating. In FM2007 I qualified for champions league group stages and it took 15 seasons with monaghan utd

few questions:

what are transfers like in the game in general and in Ireland?

like take fm07, mark gonzalez joining chelsea from real betis for 17 million....even if gonzalez had a gun run of form he just wouldn't cost that much, particulary since he was **** that season.

in ireland have they stopped the absolute madness where clubs(if u use editor) just bid 0 euro for the best LOI players, and clubs just happily accept that offer. so annoying when this happened in fm 07(the last game i played, lost fm 08 after 3 weeks) i ended up changing irelands location to central europe for some reason...sort of made it better dont know why.

i dont care how irish players are rated in fairness, like the cypriot league isnt even in the damn game and i like wasting time using editor. disgusted the a league isnt in the game tho..even if it wasnt playable but at least have it there FFS.

also my graphics card i doubt is up to standard for 3-d engine will the game still work? i never watch those dots anyway just watch the commentery very fast so i couldnt give a toss about that.

and hows international management/

Is there a bug in the Setanta Cup? I noticed the qualifying match between the FAI/IFA club didn't make a difference. Cork destroyed Glenavon 4-0 at Turners Cross then the draw was made for the group stages and Glenavon were in it and Cork were out. A day later the 2nd leg of the qualifying match took place and it finished 0-0.

Noticed a problem with the first division relegation playoff. Mervue won it yet a team called South East were in the First division the following season.

Drogheda won the Treble, Cork the setanta and my Galway Utd side came 3rd and qualified for Europe. If only FM was real

As I've now finished the Premier Division facepacks, it's probably wise to tell you how to use them. :D

You download the file and extract it (using winrar) to the location MyDocuments>Sports Interactive>Football Manager 2009>Graphics. (If there is no graphics folder then just create one.)

I will (try) to work on the First Divsion in the next couple of weeks and afterwards I'll release an EL Superpack will players from all teams in the one file. I'll do an update on this superpack in late January/Early February to update new transfers/kits etc.

If you have any questions you can e-mail me at fmfacepacker@gmail.com. Enjoy.

On another note I'm starting up a League of Ireland in 2009 to coincide with the real league, I have set up a website http://fmloi09.webs.com/index.htm but if you wanna join feel free to pm me or send me an e-mail

Finally got the game today. Had a few problems downloading them facepacks but got it sorted in the end. They are a super super job. Well done and thanks NiallSparky. Looking forward to the Harps one too if you get round to it.

Does anyone know how to fit the kits onto their templates in the game? I downloaded the ones from FMG live and the kit is the jersey, shorts and socks. I take it there is no way of fixing them so they fit exactly on the template?

ellaborate?

Started a game in the Swedish fourth tier. At the first press conference the asembled hacks sniggered at my inability to speak Swedish and predicted all srots of problems. Yet four odd months later I (or at least my ingame persona) speaks fluent Swedish. Not basic I stress. Now granted I'm an astounding intellect, there's probably not much else to do in Northern Sweden and it's a part-time set up so there's probably plenty of free evenings to work with my language instructor Ursula but it seems a little quick surely?

Not a gripe as such on my part, I mean it's not a big deal, just an observation. Surely it should take a little longer?

There seems to be a standard acceptance that three months in a country will lead to fluency in that language.

Hi, ive yet to get the game but as soon as I do I plan on making an audacious attempt to create the All-Ireland League. IRL I am firmly against it but in terms of enjoyment it would add to the overall joy of the game imo.

I would use the NI leagues as they have a proper pyramid system in place. This would probably wreck the Setanta Cup but it would be worth it(unless there is a way of taking it out of the game?)

I would then change the Irish Premiership teams to having professional status to prevent them from struggling against their more talented league of ireland opposition.

Because I am Irish I would set the country as (Republic of) Ireland(makes sense) and change the former 'eircom league' to an obsolete amature league comprising of (northern) irish third tier nobodies.

Is there still 3 tiers in the N.I database?

Is this possible to do, or would that problem where the leagues don't appear in start up menu occur?

I'm also considering what logo I would give the League. Found this.

What you could do is try and duplicate all the eL and IL teams and then put them in a small league (MSL, LSL) and then play off if you don't mind getting rid of the Non-League teams

Have you WinRar downloaded on your comp. You need this to extract the files into the Sports Interactive Folder.

Yeah you'll need to extract them with some extraction software. You may already have winrar, if not you should download IZArc which is free: http://www.izarc.org/

Then you open the files using that and extract to My Documents>Sports Interactive>Football Manager 2009>Graphics.

Hope this helps.

Not sure why Dundalk are in the 'Championship' but putting that aside, it would be quite easy to fix the above and correct nationalities to Irish by switching NI and ROI in the game.. There is no reason why nationality needs to be NI when using the IFA structure.
