Career to date with Athlone Town

Season 1- 3rd in league. beat shels in playoff but lost out on penos to dundalk in playoff final

Season 2- 3rd in league. beat kildare in playoff and lost to galway in playoff final 4-2

Season 3- 3rd in league (after leading league by 13 points at one stage) and then beat monaghon and bray in playoffs and starting 4th season now :D

It took over 10 years for me to build up a reputation to be able to manage a premiership side.From humble beginnings with Galway Utd to St.Pats to Southend and now to Leicster in the premiership.The board wants me to mount a serious title challenge within 2 years while also telling me to offload my best players due to wages being too high:confused:.

Everytime I edit my game's details, it always crashes in November, meaning I can't continue the season. Anyone know why?

It took over 10 years for me to build up a reputation to be able to manage a premiership side.

I started up a new game there during the week with all the British and Irish leagues loaded. I started unemployed with Sunday League Footballer experience with the aim of winning the Champions League within 10 years. I got my first job managing in the Welsh Premier League with Newtown. They were bottom when I took over in December but I raided the LOI for free transfers. It's February now and I'm up to midtable so we'll see how it goes..

that happend me before
its something called " crash dumps " just delete the file and it should be ok

Tried opening it the other way but this

the application failed to initalize properly(Oxc0150002).Click ok to terminate this application

I've downloaded an update from Sports Interactive....how do I go about installing it? Everytime I go to 'New Game', it doesn't come up as an option that I can play.

I'd appreciate any help that anybody may have...

Right I got this direction. Not sure if it will help but give it a go anyways.

Having a awful season 4 in early june and have only won 4 games drew 5 and lost the rest, knocked out in 2nd round of league cup and have 1 win , 1 draw and 1 loss in all ireland cup. Just hoping for a decent euro cup run to get team spirt going again

Improved in the 2nd half of Season 4, got into the group stages of Euro cup, beat Cliftonville in 2nd qualifying round, Levski Sofia in the 3rd and FC Timisora(Romania) in 4th. Got Athletico Madrid, Weder Bremen and Grasshoper Zurich in the group been beat in first 3 games scored 2 and conceded 13.

4th in Premier Division and in semi finals of the cup. Only problem is now I have 6 weeks left in the seson and 14 game left to play.

Ps. TBH I did play the 2nd leg of the FC Timisora game twice, after a draw in the 1st leg 2-2 away,I originally lost 1-0 in the 2nd leg and got my top goal scorer and 1st choice kepper both bad injuries. Drew 0-0 in 2nd time and went though on away goal

Won the FAI cup in my 4th season(1st piece of silverwear), ended up 6th in the league. Mainly due to the fact I played about 15 game in the last 6 weeks hadn't a big enough squad to cope. Lost 5 and drew 1 of the Euro cup group stage matches draw aginst grashopper at home.

Got a shock there when I read my news section in it the headline read "David Beckham signs for Harps" turned out it was a new young player for the start of the saeson

was in my 5th season with athlone and game crashed so started a new game with Celtic and lost in champos league 2nd qualifying round against bohs :eek::eek:
0-0 in both legs and they won on penos :(

Anyone coming to the stage where they're getting sick of FM09 and just want FM10 to come out and be perfect?

I just went back to 08 ages ago, found 09 a buggy irritant more than anything else. Somebody told me the other day that Wexford are denied entry to the League Cup for some reason.

In a fit of boredom I started a game running every league in every country on my mediocre machine. It's slow going. After some 5 full days I'm 3 games from the end of the first season and 5 points ahead of Harps (though they have a game in hand) at the top of the first division.

Nope. Just accept the result and move on

I'm with the Galway man. Even after the Finn Park Massacre (6-2 defeat). :( It did kickstart a 17 game unbeaten run though. :)

Finally built up my reputation in the game over 10 years that a Premiership side came looking for me.Now that im there im getting my as* kicked.1 point from the first 4 games and ive barely a goal scored and my job status has gone from secure to stable:(.Complete overhaul of tactics needed me thinks.

I bought 2009 a week ago and really struggling with Forest. 23rd and it's the middle of the September. Anybody got any tips? I tried 4-1-3-2 but I just cannot score. Should I intensify my shooting and attacking elements of training? Earnshaw and Tyson couldn't score in a brothel at the moment....

I tend to use a normal 4-4-2 formation in the lower english leagues and strecth out the two wingers to go as far as the strikers, it normally works for me and jst change around your tactics ability as each match progresses. If that doents work then Im afraid to say you may not be the manager type!:p

I'll go back to basics! 4-4-2. I have two decent wingers and will give it a shot. I reckon I'll be out of the door by early October if results don't pick up.

I have to say it's addictive when you go on a bad run. If I had just won 1 game last night I'd have stopped!

Do you guys go direct or use short passing? I don't really have a forward who can win headers or hold the ball up.

Type in "Football Manager Tactics" into youtube,a couple of people have put up their tactics and training methods there.I used one of them for a season or 2 and worked well.
I EVENTUALLY found my own tactics that work though.Any formation ive used though has included an AMC,a player just behind the strikers.This player will run the show for you.
For training especially in the LOI and Lower leagues in England have your players doing alot of strength training,they will win most tackles then and you wont concede much either.But dont set it too high or your players will all get injured easily.

I've updated the new FM 9.3.0 database update to include the transfers as recorded in the Transfers thread (http://foot.ie/forums/showthread.php?t=106437) on Foot.ie, correct as of last night.

It's 82mb, use winzip or winrar (fairly standard kit) to put the folder into your "Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2009/data/db/" folder.

Tip/Request: Before launching into a long, many-league proper game, start a quick 1 league game with the League of Ireland and take a look around your team/other teams for any ommissions or mistakes, I haven't changed much apart from the transfers and swapping Mervue, Dundalk, Cobh to the 1st, Prem and A respectively. Pop any suggestions/mistakes into this thread or my PM box and I'll try to fix them.

Rapidshare really is the quickest way to get this but I'll try to get a torrent going later - can't do so in work.

what do i need to get to extract the files??
