I've updated the site with the first few competitive games of the new season, and as many of the transfer deals as I've managed to find over the summer
I've left the stats from last season on the site for the time being, and I'll probably archive them off somewhere else soon.
As always, if you notice anything wrong or missing, or are unhappy with anything in particular, let me know and I'll fix it as soon as I can
Here's to the new season - http://www.chatsoccer.net/

so do i put this here or somewhere else, didn't want to start a new thread for one small but intriguing highlight:
peterborough 0 - man. utd. 2
"Irish midfielder Gibson had been on the field for less than a minute as United's eighth and final substitute when he brought down Lee Martin's flicked pass with his right foot and crashed home an unstoppable half-volley with his left boot from 30 yards out."

I found this clip it shows Sean St Ledger in action for Preston North End well after about 2.5 mins it does! stay with it as theres some good clips, look out for him taking on 5 or 6 Burnley players to create a goal.
Thought it may be of some interest to those on here who haven't seen him play.

Hello again to all regulars on this section/thread
I dont have my season ticket at Leicester anymore, nothing to do with repeated relegations, my new Lady had difficulty understanding why I still took off to footy with my ex every other week, and my ex's new bloke had similar issues with those same outings... so an era ends.
I still plan to get along now and then but anyone playing in L1 is probably off the radar for our national side anyway.
Enjoy the season everyone.

Cheers, joe_denilson, I've made the changes and they'll go into the next site update, probably tomorrow or saturday
just a few things
Meyler more than likely won't play for the first team this season, so I'm leaving him out for the time being. There's an amount of young Irish kids at Sunderland, and there's very little point in putting them all in. If he turns out for the first team, I'll add him in.
Didn't realise Michael O'Connor had changed allegiances again, I've removed him completely from the site. Stalin would be proud of me!
Ashley Grimes is English - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ashley_Grimes_(English_footballer)
According to his wikipedia page - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ben_Wright_(footballer) - Ben Wright was born in Germany, i.e. Münster, not Munster, and doesn't qualify for the Republic.

whos this julian kelly fella who was on the bench for reading today?
He's a left full back in the U-19's, was in the team against the Czechs in February: http://www.fai.ie/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=2856
Surprising to see him with the first team for Reading, although he did play in a few games in pre-season:
VS Didcot: http://www.readingfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10306~1343086,00.html
VS Havant & Waterlooville: http://www.readingfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10306~1345538,00.html

VS Aston Villa: http://www.readingfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10306~1356996,00.html

Not strictly speaking Irish Abroad related, but I think this is interesting.
FourFourTwo magazine have launched this website: http://footballtalentspotter.com/
It's a sort of wikipedia for football players, based on the opinions of fans.
A few examples:
George O'Callaghan: http://footballtalentspotter.com/player/georgeocallaghan-1661.aspx
Jamie McCarthy: http://footballtalentspotter.com/player/jamesmccarthy-4301.aspx
Keith Treacy: http://footballtalentspotter.com/player/keithtreacy-5709.aspx
Owen Garvan: http://footballtalentspotter.com/player/owengarvan-1814.aspx
Might be worth keeping an eye on the site, as the season continues

Last night an ITV reporter described Southamptons goalscorer as "Irishman McGoldrick".
Seemed to remember reading that this is not the case on here a while back?
Richie Partridge was playing for Chester V Leeds in main highlights game.
They mentioned he is Michael Owens brother in law which is looking like will be his main claim to fame.:(

In Martin Rowlands' absence (serving a suspension) Damien Delaney donned the captain's armband for QPR last night, and played a captain's role by scoring the winning goal as QPR fought back from a 2-1 half-time deficit at Swindon to win 3-2. Should be a good confidence boost for him.

eirebhoy how was McGeady yesterday?
Didn't see the game, will watch the repeat. Apparantly another quiet enough game. Came into it in the 2nd half. Maloney and Naka were superb apparently so McGeady will need to get his form back.
/Just saw Reid's pass for Blackburn's goal. Really good pass.
