Shame Reading wouldn't drop their price when Everton were in for him in January, think there or Sunderland would have been a better move for him, I expect Hull to struggle this year, any other year they'd have gone down with 35 points. Funny enough, had he spat the dummy back in Jan (like the Reading fans seem to think he has now) he may well have got that move.

Still, hope he does well.

looks like he messed Reading about in the deluded expectation that a top 10 team would come in for him and now that that hasnt transpired and he cant stay at Reading, he's off to Hull.

I dunno. It's still a step up from Reading.. I wouldn't be surprised if Hull get pipped at the last minute like they did last week with Beye. That said I think the club that's signs him is going to be one of the 6 or 7 expected to be down that end of the table anyway. I never read too much into the Villa Everton links.

I think that's a good point too. There is something to be said about playing in the Premier League from an exposure point of view.

If he was hardly getting on TV with the likes of Reading, he could be forgotten...but with his style of play on display each week in the Premier League, everybody knows who Stephen Hunt is.

Especially if he clatters Peter Cech again this Saturday against Chelsea :D

Has S.Hunt officially signed with Hull yet? They did think they had Campbell and Beye. It will be a long hard season for Hull I feel.

Hunt! Hunt!
Wherever you may be.
We don't care if you dropped your knee.
It could have been Cech or Cudicini.
Next time you'll bring a 3rd goalie!

:D

Sad to see Stephen go, he was a good servant to the club and despite his inconsistencies always gave his best. I for one will miss him.

Irelands was a bit more than a tap in, he kept very very cool when other players wouldnt have

Just watching match of the day, you gotta admire this lads work rate, chasing back lost causes etc. Think he'll do well at Hull, if they stay up im not so sure.

The guy that came on and replaced Folan changed the game, Folan might not be a first team starter much longer.

Great work to set up the goal against Wolves.
Best winger in the Premiershihp since Ronaldo left.

Does he?

I know Chelsea fans boo him (understandably) but I wasn't aware any other fans do.

Why does hunt see himself as one of the main spokesmen for the team and has to come out and state the plainly obvious before every game, "we need to win to keep pressure on Italy"......Obviously we do.

Would you be posting this if there wasn't seemingly bad blood between Hunt and S. Ireland?

I dont think there is any bad blood between them to be honest but I wudnt complain if he had said something usefull not something so blatent unlike Duffs interview which was a bit more insightful.

Yss he must have thought he was already playing for Wolves ;)

Anyway I though he took a cracking penalty. Top corner.

Yes, fantastic penalty, I think short players are better penalty takers, less likely to blast over, just a theory, though there may be some physics to back it up!

You could be right there. I think there was some theory that short cricket players were better but I don't know if that's true, but
Brian Lara was only 5'8. There is less distance between the eye and the ball you are striking so that should help.
Also he took a short run up, only a couple of steps, if you pace that out correctly it's probably hard to put it over the top. just make sure you are not leaning back when you strike the ball.

I commend Hunt for his passion and workrate for Ireland but his overall game is shocking at the best of times. Still runs with the ball with his head down, passing is brutal. His end product like McGeady is not there.

tricky_colour

Rated the 16th best player in the Premiereshipand he has plenty of end product, he might not be the best passer but he can put in a good cross and corner.
Got his head up here! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rVMB4ifTd5A&feature=related

possibly, but at his age he should be better than what he is, I like the lad for his commitment but as I say his game lacks technique and he fails to do the simple things well.

You have to take your hat off to Hunt. He wasn't even getting his game with Brentford when Coppell took over. Then Coppell took him to Reading, where he was no more than a squad player in the year Reading achieved promotion. He continued to progress and made the position his own on the left of midfield. Then he went on to be transferred for a few million. Not bad for a Brentford reserve at 21.

and turned out to have an ego the size of Griffin Park!He definitely has done well for himself, but in my opinion pace and workrate are his only attributes. His basic technical ability is awful, and as somebody above said, he cannot do the simple things. However its his outspoken idiocy that really iritates me. I've never disliked an Irish player so much

Hunt given man of match in sky sports "He gave a terrific all-action display", he provided the corner kick for the goal.
He also put in some other good free kicks and I think those who say he lacks technique do not realise how good his
free kicks are. The key word being end product.

His managers must think he takes a decent set piece as they choose him to take them.

Either he has good technique/gets lucky/has bad technique but gets good results/has crazy managers that just like watching Stephen Hunt taking set pieces for some reason unknown to man or science.

Hunt, Doyle, Duff and Dunne are the players who are doing it for their clubs on a consistent enough basis. They are our best performing senior players by a country mile.
