It'd be an interesting one if they truly enforced this line of any away fans in the home end will be refused entry. Outside of people blatantly wearing colours that'd surely be a tricky one, you can hardly turn someone away because you're suspicious of their accent or whatever else the reason would be.
It seems there will be a lot of Daniel Kelly/Darragh Leahy/Andy Boyle's uncles at the game on Friday :D

Can only stop people for Pats colours after that it would be sticky for them. It’s another conundrum for clubs to face in the era of growing crowds. Hard to believe that 500 tickets isn’t enough for us in Oriel.

I don’t blame people for buying tickets but fans are going to have to get used to there being a finite number of tickets with the increase in popularity,it’s pretty standard for half empty stadiums with packed away ends across the water,it’s probably going to be the same here….

Very hard for all clubs to police. If someone wants to see their team and there is a way they will find it. The only way they could possibly be refused entry is if they are wearing away colours or anything else that’s breaches a clubs T&C’s like being drunk etc . You cant have security say you sound like you’re from Dublin or whatever the case may be.

In one way it's a great sign but in another way it's a shame that people can't go to see games and clubs are losing out on badly needed revenue , and any improvement in stadiums in most cases is still a good bit away.

This. It's great that demand for the league is up - but not great that clubs can't capitalise on it. Also - every fan who can't get a ticket they want to a game is a potential long-term fan lost to that club. People will find something else to do that night instead, and a lot of people will just not try to get to games in future if they believe it's too difficult. It's stunting the growth and income of Irish club football. Not just now, but potentially for years to come.

Maybe Pat Dolan was right when he said everyone should build 15,000 seater stadia..

For the ground in Oriel, home ends, it must be 20+ years since I saw away fans in those areas, any Pats fans intending going to home area are hardly all going to stand apart in isolated groups, so would imagine they will stand out and will be asked to leave if they have managed to get tickets and get in, but again probably only so many sold and imagine they will be cancelled.

Well 3D models of stadiums that look like they would hold 15k anyway.

Still on sale in draught in both bars at the ground, just make sure you put a few extras in when ordering 'WELL.......Pint of HAAAAArp there'

A bit of housekeeping for Nigel, as FAI Connect officially confirms the Kerry v Cobh figure as 1,294.

Be fantastic if we get a sell out (no idea how many that is, we had over 4k at a few games over years but these didn't sell out)

Great to see, Dundalk should invite Pats fans to the home end every week and you might see sell outs more often ;)

3100 is the amount seats alright, that's limit for European matches. Easily fit in another 2000 I'd imagine but Health Safety prob wouldn't allow it
5500 attended Cork game end 2014 but that was with a temp stand behind goals by away end

Trip booked for our away game in May El P, good few of us doing a stay over, looking forward to it, always a great trip down, love the buzz around TC and south of the city, last visit was 2018, seems a long time ago.
Is the Evergreen still open, or did I read that sadly closed?
Some crowd to be fair by Cork City tonight.

With 500 Pats there, although didn't think away terrace was completely full, this means less DFC fans went than v UCD (3,140 or so), seems odd, but the Racing was on tonight in Dundalk and an evening meeting, always takes a few hundred off the gate.

7626 i think was the figure announced at Tallafornia, i was there an hour or so before kick off and there were signs up saying sold out so excellent turnout. Interesting to see what Mondays gate will be but with well over 4K season tickets sold 5 k looks realistic, might be a record for a Monday Night League game.

By the by, across the road the Munster rogby boys had 8,000 for their game against Scarlets I think, all on at around the same kick-off. Serious traffic & crowd control in and around this area last nite, but a terrific sporting Cork public. Unique for any City in Ireland! ?

Evergreen has been closed a few years now. Still plenty of options though, Beer Garden, Turners Cross Tavern and the Horseshoe which is now the Corner Flag and includes a terrace overlooking the pitch.

Premier Division:
Shamrock Rovers v Derry - 7,626
Cork v UCD - 4,857
Shels v Bohs - 4,140
Dundalk v Pats - 3,487
Drogheda v Sligo - 1,544
First Division:
Waterford v Galway - 2,725
Harps v Bray - 1,582
Wexford v Athlone - 678
Missing Kerry v Treaty. Go with 1,300 sell out until an official figure comes through.
Longford v Cobh on LOITV looks about 2/350 at an estimate, most are in the stand, anyone else with a guess of the attendance!

The location is a problem there. If that was in the town the sky would be the limit for them.

Best thing about the attendances increases is that they seem to be across the board. Even the smaller clubs are getting crowds which are what - maybe twice what the might have been before covid?
Yeah exactly, in general the core support of each club looks to have almost doubled from 2020.
The sell outs in the PD are obviously cool to see but I'd argue it's the first division not anymore being referred to as 'the graveyard' which is the most important development in recent years.
If the majority of FD clubs can average close to 4 figures attendances then we have a healthy-ish base to feed into what will hopefully soon be a completely professional top tier.

2nd to 5th qualifying for the playoffs is the significant development. There has been a reluctance in the Premier Division to take on a playoff for the final European spot.

A word of caution on FD crowds. If Galway and Waterford go up, and UCD (please God) and Drogheda go down, the PD crowds wil be box office but the FD average will almost certainly be back in 3 figures. Crowds in the First have been great recently, but it's hard to see many beyond Galway and Waterford drawing solid 4-figure crowds on a regular basis.

Well..
Apologies - I should have added Harps to the list of current FD clubs who can get 4 figures regularly enough (view it as a compliment, as I still think of you as a PD club :D )
There are few others - if any - beyond them, Waterford and Galway.
Kerry are getting good crowds now, but it's too early to tell if that will sustain. Bray could get 4-figures on occasion, but if they're not doing well then they probably wouldn't have it consistently. Ditto Treaty. So the FD average next year will come down to who goes up and who goes down (even if that is a fairly obvious point). With one of Galway or Waterford more than likely to go up - possibly both - and I would argue UCD favourites to go down - then there's a very good chance that the FD crowds in 2024 will be quite a bit down on where they end up this year. Perhaps the only thing that would stop that would be Cork getting relegated.
Bit of a random guess.
No, I was one of the four.

I'm no good at judging the size of crowds, but I'd say there's about seventeen million of them out there.

I can’t see how we’re down nearly 1000 on the Galway game. A few hundred maybe.
