Dundalk?s crowds this season have tended to be above the 2500 mark but below 3000. Is there a reason they are not higher , especially for the bigger matches?

Do you really want to know the real reason! :money:

Would have thought a game of that magnitude would draw 3000+, probably unrealistic to expect that too often with the condition of Oriel.

My guess from being at the match was that the attendance was just over 3000.(the shed was overflowing at both ends and bigger than normal crowd on the town side of the ground) but agree with you totally about the conditions at OP and last night was cold - ie, not the sort of weather that would attract the casual/floating supporter to attend.

EDIT: Stand was sold out and great away support also.

No it wasn’t, far from it. More or less all of the seats that were not under the roof closer to the away end half of the pitch were unoccupied as you can see in the below video. Granted the video is right at the end of the match but it was like that all night

Fair enough. Not going to get in to a huge debate over this. A lot of Shed fans usually move to the townside end of the ground(closer to the exit gate) for the last 5/10 mins of the match.(some fans call the townside end the "5 minute stand" for that reason) Just my opinion of attendance as a ST regular in OP,nothing written in granite.

Most at the match I spoke to said just over 3k at the Dundalk v Pats game, there is no doubt crowds are down 500 this year v the SK era, but def looked to be more than the 2,734 announced.

From not having a scoreboard for a season or so, the new one as seen in this video at the start is a monster, must be biggest in the league?

Nigel's last update, AFAIK:

Bit of an update. An awful lot of estimates this year. Bohs, Drogheda, Shels and UCD figures proving difficult to find, a handful of Pats estimates, a smattering of one or two among the rest, and Derry being Derry.

In the first division, there's more estimates than official figures across the board. Cork, Waterford and Wexford are pretty much up to date, but missing three of the last four from Galway, half a season from Longford, and Cobhs official attendances seemed to have tailed off with the crowds dipping. Nothing from Bray or Athlone this year, and only four figures from Treaty.

So, with all that in mind, who knows how accurate we are this year, but the inevitable summer drop in attendances is notable across the board for almost everyone..

PREMIER DIVISION

Bohs - 3,169 (2,878 {2019}; 2,148; 2,006; 1,627; 1,724; 1,395; 1,597; 1,496; 1,488)
Derry - 3,397 (2,878; 2,297; 1,517; 1,563; 1,124; 1,106; 1,446; 1,460; 2,135)
Drogheda - 1,425 (928 FD; 377 FD; 850; 583 FD; 813; 1,064; 817; 977; 811)
Dundalk - 2,755 (2,775; 2,738; 2,674; 2,738; 3,158; 2,534; 1,997; 949; 1,355)
Harps - 1,431 (1,153; 708 FD; 1,202; 1,216; 784 FD; 449 FD; 479 FD; 429 FD; 433 FD; 644 FD)
Pat's - 3,471 (1,887; 1,621; 1,504; 1,088; 1,321; 1,386; 1,687; 1,474; 1,346)
Rovers - 5,567 (3,445; 2,749; 2,809; 2,041; 2,890; 2,269; 2,763; 3,127; 3,779)
Shels - 2,892 (1,075 FD; 654 FD; 496 FD; 554 FD; 596 FD; 713 FD; 1,114; 1,187; 781 FD)
Sligo - 2,349 (1,995; 1,853; 1,717; 1,750; 1,750; 1,959; 2,342; 3,007; 2,103)

Is the list of clubs who've had a full house of some sort (league, cup or Europe) this season therefore :

- Rovers
- Pats
- Bohs
- Shels ?
- Waterford ?
- Sligo
- Derry.

Any others ?

Yeah not the first sell out that pats will have had this season, the Sligo and shams games sold out off the top of my head, others that I’m missing there too. Obviously the European game against Mura but that was limited capacity.

One club that’s missing from your list is Drogheda I think who sold out games against UCD and Dundalk early in the season IIRC.

Cork v Galway in both Terryland and Turners Cross could’ve been sold out also, if not then they were very close to it

I dont believe any of our games have been official sellouts. The home game vs Galway might have been a functional or near sellout given the seats being removed from the Donie Forde at the worst possible time. We have one more home game and itll be the trophy presentation so we have a shot at a sell out. I suspect we'll have a large crowd but I wouldn't bet on a sell out.

The job Pats have done in the community while actively trying to not seek any kind of attention for it is crazy, we've somehow quietly gone about such an enormous upturn in attendances while spending much of the season not even being any use.

Aye that's what I meant. I like the team and Clancy but for the bulk of the season we've been below expectations until the last 8 league games or so + Europe where we've really put it together, but even still attendances have been great through the season.

Will Derry city get a similar allocation of tickets for the game on the 30th?

It could be the game that gives Rovers the league or possibly makes it interesting going into the final game of the season.
