Think it was Kildare County who pipped them to it (?)

There were two teams from Mullinfgar battling with each other at the time to join the league.

Mullingar Athletic was the other side Eat Yer Greens! Spot on!

Pats are now using the shed end for home fans on Friday due to the increased attendances this year. Derry fans will be in the last block of the main stand as usual.

Ah right. Spotted that pub a few times and wondered the name.
I'm guessing the owner is from Tipperary?

2,838 at Dundalk v Drogs, DFC crowds have been modest this season, thats actually close to avg, but a little disappointed in away crowd, possibly 350 or so for a 20 min drive up the M1, think we took close to 1k for the game in Drogs earlier in the season.

My guesstimate would be 2500-3000 tonight. It could be our last decent attendance of the year after that massacre.

My guesstimate would be 2500-3000 (tel:2500-3000) tonight. It could be our last decent attendance of the year after that massacre.

Given the official figure for the Harps game last week was around 2800, I’d have tonight’s crowd as comfortably 3100-3400ish at a guess. Agree that performances will eventually see crowds tail off but with Shels and Bohs as the next 2 home games both fixtures should still maintain the healthy crowds

Been pretty mediocre atts for us for a few games now tbh Oriel and cant understand why? Would have have thought we'd have had over 3k for both Shels & Drogs but didn't happen and wondering why?(very disappointing)
BTW - Drogs had prob their biggest crowd in a loooooooong while up tonight so i'll give them that but still poor all things considered.

Would probably depend upon the quality of the quinoa wraps and vegan options on sale from the chip van. Offer a monkbean and tofu special, and see the crowds flock.

On the potential attendances at a Dalymount with no restrictions, it would depend on the game but the average would probably be north of 4000.

Surely it's the not-unexpected reality of fans who got used to winning things now having to face the reality of that being off the cards for the foreseeable future - and many not liking it ?

I was thinking the same. First time in years with no Euro football this summer and they are unlikely to win the League (though you never know), and some fans realise that. Still pretty decent attendances all the same.

Still would think that we should be getting 3k and a bit for those two traditional games i mentioned(always got decent crowds even in 1st div). Maybe I'm peculiar :D

Not that bad a crowd IMO. Given it's a daytime kick off on a Bank Holiday Monday, and the fact that Athlone aren't a big draw and don't bring many fans.

Usually I would see no reason to doubt an official figure announced, but for whatever reason it just seems to be lower than actual these last few games. I really think there was just over 3k at the Drogs game, now its only 200 or so out, but I don't know why it seems to be out, can't be that difficult to get an accurate figure counted, zap ST and count up sales on the night.

UCD v Drogheda - 15th Apr
Bohs v UCD - 29th Apr

Haven't seen official for either, but what estimate did you use?

I saw Bohs v UCD down as 2500 on extratime, but that can't be right. There was 2500 in the Jodi, and then the Des Kelly was fairly full as well. So that's closer to 3500

Drogheda game was maybe stand half-full again, so 600-700 as an estimate.

nigel-harps1954
03/05/2022, 10:36 AM
Yeah, the Bohs v UCD one is almost certainly wrong. I have the 2,500 figure used for now from Extratime, as it's all I could find. Bohs figures should be straightforward got though.

Had UCD v Drogheda down as 400, given the previous official figure for Derry was 473 and looked a similar crowd on stream highlights. Can amend that to 650 for now sure, split your estimate down the middle.

pineapple stu
03/05/2022, 11:03 AM
400/600 not a huge difference anyway. Caveat with my estimates is I can't see the full stand but you can on highlights. Would have had it as more than Derry though; there was a decent away support for a start!

Whats really positive is while the total is obviously inflated by Cork City, even if you exclude all Cork City games, both home and away the average is still way higher than previous years. It comes out at 36.2k over 42 games for an average of 863. Youd have to be happy to see the sort of numbers we're seeing in Cork, Galway and Waterford. Even Cobh without the Cork Derby are at 800+ which is a huge increase on recent years.
On the flip side, really poor crowds in Limerick. They didn't bring much of a crowd to the Cross yesterday, would have thought the 5pm kickoff would have suited them.
