Waterford must have brought over 250+ yesterday, great away support creating a noisy cup atmosphere! Maybe over 1000+ to see the Cup holders out?

Id have had it at closer to 2,000 total. Less than 250 Waterford fans as the away block of seats only holds 250 and there were plenty of empty seats in it. A good crowd none the less though and a good atmosphere from them as you say

I see Bohs are capping away attendances at 450 next season, building a new covered terrace, will only affect Rovers,Shels and Pats fans and maybe Dundalk aswell….

Just over 1500 in Oriel last night according to the PA. Very dead atmosphere as you often get in early rounds of the cup. That's the smallest crowd I've seen in Oriel for a long time. Next week v Derry will be a different story with all the boyos coming back to Oriel

Poor crowd ok (1,576) but not unexpected, plus with a very wet night, this is exactly what the club gets for only having 2k seats under cover, there are plenty who like to stand town end of the stand, open to the elements as much as the away section, not attractive on a rainy night.

It was lowest since the previous week (22/07) v Finn Harps (2,016), highest so far was 3,600 v Derry on the opening night, might get something close to that this Friday. Still a lot away on holidays, problem for a lot of clubs Late July / most August.

So here is the estimated attendance figures for Round 1 of the 2022 FAI Cup played over the weekend,

Cobh 2710,
St. Pats 2000 est.
Bangor (at Tallaght) 1700+
Derry & Dundalk 1500+ est.
Sligo 1200+ est.
Finn Harps 900+
Bray & Drogheda 500+ est.
Treaty 350
UCD 200
Maynooth, Lucan, Salthill, Bonagee and Bluebell estimates between 100 up to 300 attendances.

Anyone who was at any of the above may be able to advise on these figures.

Strange decision - as presumably the space is there to add more seats, and it wouldn't cost a huge amount more either ? They don't have to go crazy, but even just 50-100 more would surely work out financially by selling those extra seats out 6-10 or more times a season ? I wonder how they alighted on 450 as being the magic number here ?

I was down a bit from it, didn't know what happened until a minute or so later when we realised something had happened. Was very concerned the game was going to be abandoned during the delay.
Overall really poor event handling from Ramblers from start to finish, somehow worse than the league game with about double the crowd.

A bit embarassing for Cobh in their centenary year. But it's a small club run by a tiny team of volunteers, so many things there are doubltess run on a wing and a prayer.

Where was it that had a low wall collapse about 10-15 yrs in a similar event - Monaghan United ?

It is what this temp stand would hold. The idea then is we can get more home fans into the ground via the Des Kelly.

Apologies if this is a daft question - but can you not therefore just get a bigger temporary stand ? Surely the additional cost for a 500 or 500 seater would be minimal, as transport and assembly will be a big portion of the fees involved ?

I’m guessing it is our Lord and Master DCC who is proposing the size of any temp stand. Probably aiming for 10% of overall capacity of Dalymount.

A first win in 14 games I think. I don't think anyone was really expecting anything other than another loss. As it turned out, it was actually around 800 scanned in on the night. Waiting on the official figure through.

Bit of an update. An awful lot of estimates this year. Bohs, Drogheda, Shels and UCD figures proving difficult to find, a handful of Pats estimates, a smattering of one or two among the rest, and Derry being Derry.

In the first division, there's more estimates than official figures across the board. Cork, Waterford and Wexford are pretty much up to date, but missing three of the last four from Galway, half a season from Longford, and Cobhs official attendances seemed to have tailed off with the crowds dipping. Nothing from Bray or Athlone this year, and only four figures from Treaty.

So, with all that in mind, who knows how accurate we are this year, but the inevitable summer drop in attendances is notable across the board for almost everyone..

PREMIER DIVISION

Bohs - 3,169 (2,878 {2019}; 2,148; 2,006; 1,627; 1,724; 1,395; 1,597; 1,496; 1,488)

Yeah, I have rough estimates for each of them, from either here, or social media sources, or from Extratime, who seem to be less than reliable at UCD estimates.

I didnt catch the attendance announced so asked the person beside me and he said 3860 and I didnt question it as it seemed a reasonable number. It was only today that I saw it was 2860 and it was a surprise! I was on the Shed side across from the Derry fans 1st half and there was a good away support, stand was full, and 5 minute terrace was very busy, a good number standing behind the town goal (usually a good indicator of a higher crowd). 2nd half was at the 5 minute terrace and the shed side was very busy also. So the figures do seem out this time,

For most folk 2 games in a week might be too much. The entrance fee, burger/pie and pints it soon stacks up. You also have ve to remember that was most likely a typical crowd for Sunday back in the good old days.

The European ocasions are a massive distraction and people make choices. Rovers smallest league crowd of the season was against drogs straight after the ludogarets match 3000 approx.
