I've been pretty regular at Drogheda this season and last, and find it hard to believe that the attendance has more than halved in 2018. It doesn't seem like that from the terraces. I don't think the club gives official attendances.

I've been in Drogheda three times this year, for two games that were played and one that was called off five minutes after scheduled kick-off. Shocked at how poor the crowd was on each occasion.

I've official figures for all but five of their games. Only four of their attendances this season have been over 400.

Hope Nesta doesn't get offended by you calling him a dick

I will live with it. I wasnt pointing out clubs' attendances in isolation though with a big 'hah hah'. You did though, like a child that has found a selection box early you couldnt resist the temptation! A swipe at the fans, Oriel Park, Dundalk so TT is right **Groan** cause the bitterness oozes from you and it is most definately palpable. You do see that that by and large there isnt that much difference in attendances between Dundalk and Rovers? Yes as league champions even bigger crowds would be hoped for but population and facilities are mitgating factors. Whats was Rovers issue as 2010/11 isnt that spectacular for a club the size of Rovers? Genuine question as the choice of Tallaght as a base was so that there would be a fanbase, the efforts of Bohs without competing for Europe shows that support can be grown through embedding in the community. Is it complacency, disillusionment, disconnection with the wider community? The fall in support in Dundalk imo is complacency but it isnt off the curve just yet.

Yep, same here on our two trips. Zero vocal support, was shocked at how poor it was

Wasnt there an issue with the 'vocal' supporters and the club banned some of them and other boycotted as a result?

yeah thats correct nesta heard that from our side too.. their vocal gang is not as prominent as they once were. i was at those two games with outspoken and couldnt get over the decline with the drogheda fans in their vocal support. utd park was like a morgue!

2486 announced at Turners Cross. Was nowhere near that. People were actually laughing when that figure was announced.

Crap place to judge a crowd but maybe 800-900 in Drogheda tonight?

About 300 down from Harps. Expected more traveling if I'm honest.

Saw a photo of the Harps support, no way that’s 300. We brought far more a couple of weeks ago (as you would expect given its only 2 hours away) and I would’ve said we hadn’t 200-250. Anyway, would hope ye get a bumper crowd next week, surely 1000+?

Around 150 or so harps fans I read earlier which is a decent number our fourth trip to United Park this season, I'd be disappointed if there wasn't a good 12/1300 in Finn Park next week

I'd say 150 to 200 harps fans there tonight. I'd be disappointed with anything less than 1500 on Friday. We were poor tonight. Hope we turn up on Friday

There's not a doubt it has more than halved.

Bar the season we came second last in the first division, I've never seen our attendances so poor

Did I see a while ago that Drogs' ticket prices are extortionate?

€15 for terrace and €20 for a seat. Mental prices. I thought Harps prices were poor at €12 terrace and €15 a seat.

Maybe I slightly overestimated Harps support on the night, as I said, hard place to judge, and another crowd of Harps fans up in the seating area.

Still, very disappointed with the traveling support. Too many people talking about Limerick, when needing to get past Drogheda first.

Harps charging about the same as a Premier side is somewhat passable.
Drogs charging more than that average is mad.

I'm sure you'll forgive me, a Limerick fan, for not wanting to face ye!

3877 Dundalk v Sligo.

I think a few hundred might have jumped the wall, hid in the bar or evaded the scanners at the gate as the place was rammed jammmed packed.
But that's the official number.

Yeah, certainly looked closer to 2,500 for me at least.

Would expect another 1,000 on top of that for Limerick visit.

Yeah, watching it on RTE2, I had thought over 5,000. Was surprised when i heard 3877, which is still a very good attendance.

For once I thought it was spot on, I was in the stand and even though they said it was sold out, there were spare seats, not too many mind, however the open seating on the town side of the stand was packed, very little away support too, and with live on tv, I think almost 4K is decent.

That’s about the max really that Dundalk can realistically attract for a league game. The season high was just under 4,200 v Cork in June.

Depending on the result up north they might get a crowd for the second leg.

Not a chance. Was at the game and thought it was going to be around 4000 so figure was right. There was space to the left of the stand, and as rammed as the shed was I’ve seen it even more packed for European games etc

Ah, fair enough. It's such a tight ground for what seats are there that it can look a little fuller than it is sometimes.

That seems at least a thousand low. West stand was very full and East stand had a good crowd too.

Wasn't open but it looked like everything was in place. Hopefully the other end gets started relatively quickly now too. It's a credit to SDCC and to Rovers.

You'd imagine the club would try to open it with a big game in pre season

Will rovers open the new stand for non derby/major League games... Attendances will look sparse if they do. Good to see it done all the same

I imagine they'd close the east stand for certain games so it would actually look less sparse than it does now.

As far as I know it will be Rovers fans in the main and new stand with only away fans in the square end of the east.
Id prefer to only open the new stand when the main is sold out. Think it would make the atmosphere better as it would be almost full for every game.

We pulled in just under 1300 for Helsinki and just over 3000 for Roma a few years ago. These games are a draw if the opponent is interesting. I think there was a big TV game on the same night as the Helsinki game which would have dented the crowd somewhat.

Was it UCD last year? What sort of crowd did they get?

Had a nice laugh to myself at that figure as well. Easily around 3,000 there. Few of us had estimated it at around 3,500 when in the ground.

Do Harps keep the gate money themselves or split someway?

Only a fiver in and kids (under 12) free. not a massive money spinner but boosted the crowd and helped offset the costs of putting the game on. Hopefully generate a bit of interest in the club among the kids that attended (many were new to Dalymount).

Harps keep the gate money. Limerick keep the gate money on Friday night. Extra gates were opened on the night though to ease congestion, so large numbers of people through those gates weren't counted. Only those going through the turnstiles themselves were counted.
