Seems strange on a Friday. Any idea why?

Local GAA games now playing on a Friday night is probably the biggest factor.

Games aganst Bray are not great for attendances. Bray, given the circumstances, understandably hardly brought any fans.

I also think this Dundalk side have not caught the imagination of the local sporting public. They are less flamboyant than teams in the last few years. Those teams really spoiled people, they were ridiculously good to watch.

Was it bring a friend night? Clearly Dundalk fans have no friends.

Or have friends who are already Dundalk fans?

It is touching that our attendances matter to you.

Maybe you need to expand ye're social circles!

I'd imagine most LOI fans are interested in the attendances of other teams. It reflects on the league, especially with a team as successful as Dundalk.

To be fair thats not too bad for Bray at home Rovers even if they were going well would be around the 2 k mark.

The ticket promotion is largely focused on the next home match against Limerick, although season tickets holders could opt to get a free ticket for the Bray match instead if they wished (and were bothered to go and pick it up at the Oriel Park office before 5pm last Friday). The promotion was largely about acknowledging regular supporters as opposed to attracting newbies

Option 1: Supporters who purchase an adult ticket for the Bray match before 5pm on Friday will be able to buy a ticket for the Limerick match on the 8th June at a €10 discount.
Option 2: Supporters who buy a concession ticket (OAP/Student) for the Bray match will be able to buy a ticket for the Limerick match on the 8th June at a €5 discount.
Option 3: Season Ticket holders will be entitled to bring along a friend for free for either the Bray Wanderers or Limerick match. You must claim your ticket before 5pm this Friday before the Bray match.

I was expecting around 2k for the Dlk v Bray game, and it wasn’t too far off, very limited away support also. This was the second home game in the same week and we took a decent crowd to Bohs too the previous Friday, so 3 games in 7 days for many.

There are usually 2 or 3 games under 2k each season, obviously not great but we really should be attracting 3k for most games and we have in a lot so far this year.

The current team are obviously more direct and have fewer individual talents like Towell but they're still the best footballing side in the country. I can't imagine why anybody wouldn't want to watch Duffy on their doorstep every second Friday. Then again, we have Burke and we're still doing mediocre numbers, so I guess Irish people are just lazy.

The bar is the best place to watch the match from , you just need to get in early enough to grab a table by the window.
Its like foing to watch the greyhounds in Shelbourne park :)

Would be a bit petulant of Dundalk people to be turning their noses up at the current team. A season back in the First Division should disabuse them of that :D

Yes. Certainly really good weather always hurts our crowds no matter how we're going, unless it's a really massive game.

oh hog wash
a complete combination of factors of it being the sunniest day of the year, spate of primary school communions taking place on Saturday across town, referendum and a cluster **** of Fri-Mon games since March has hit the attendance. Also in May some people are on holidays or are saving up for holidays so some fans need to make tough decisions.

nothing to do with any affinity with the current team which is a ridiculous statement.

The number is really only 300 down on a typical Dundalk Bray match. Bray are not a big pull never have and never will be. Our attendances always dip from May to end of August in summer football.

Jeez you'd think Dundalk fans were just as prominent here when ye were going nowhere in D1 as they are now that ye are on the up.

We can only wish at least 1 fan was less prominent.

Allowing for the estimated/official/season ticket figures given, we are talking about some 10,000 fans at the 'cross for Friday & Monday games!

That is great support!

Wouldn't say more than 400 in Finn Park this evening. Crowds are getting smaller, atmosphere gone, not sure how long it'll be until we're down to 300 a game.

I think Cork like some other clubs include ST figures regardless if they show up or not, so the combined official figures released for Fri and Mon was 4,834 and 3,815 (both impressive, especially yesterday IMO) but at 8,649 for both, this is under 10k, and possibly even under this actual figure given the way ST numbers are added?

Very good support, but it’s a fair bit under the 10k you are suggesting.

I think thats fair. Attendances were even more impressive given that Cork had a home game in the Hurling on Saturday with close to 35k at it. Some would have skipped the City games to go to the Pairc. Personally I enjoyed all three games, plus Cobh v Galway on Monday evening but not everyone can manage that many games in a short period, especially families.

Its all very cordial between Dundalk and Cork fans the last wee while on here. Wait 'til the first week back after the break.......:D

Shocking crowd and atmosphere of a morgue. Not the Finn Park I remember. Fair play to the town fans that traveled, never stopped singing all night. Fans have been superb this season

A measly 734 at Terryland Park last night to watch us lose 2-1 against a bog standard Finn Harps team, crowds are really starting to plummet and that "performance" won't have helped the growing levels of disinterest in our season and the general malaise surrounding the club.

Keegan is under severe pressure now.
