I didn’t know that rule applied to Crafty too. Interesting.

Thats a pity about 'arry, now veteran Glenn will have to do all the heavy lifting, stand alone and fill the breach. . RK was full of cr*p about Arter and Walters and since then he has fallen way down the ladder to his true calling, getting standing ovations for pedding gems on tv, such as "they (Liverpool) need to bring their A game".

Such wanton inaccuracy. Everyone knows Scousers bring their ay-ay-ay game.:D

Scores against Villa after coming on as a sub.Not that it particularly matters for us given his effective retirement.

Two goals in three games for Arter - worth giving him another shot in the Autumn? Or stick by Mick's decision to leave him "concentrate on club football" and only call on him if we're in a pickle in midfield.

I've gone cold on Arter on basis that I felt his commitment was poor, which was Mick's view too, but I suppose if you turn up and get bollocked by Roy Keane for getting physio treatment I suppose that'd make you lose your appetite. Still, good or not, I'm not sure he's a player I'll ever fully warm to.

Agreed. But look, new manager, clean slate/fresh start and all that. It seems SK is a fan so hopefully he can be of some value.

I actually forgot he refused to turn up for a match after his fight with Keane

More realistically, a move to Forest maybe in the offing.

Oh well, that's both Irish players promoted in the playoff final back in the Championship again, both with Forest as well.

That would suggest that ~ ~ thats their level at this stage of their careers.

Being reported that he has been told he is free to leave Forest before the window closes as he is not in the first team plans going forward.

Has joined Notts County on loan (https://www.rte.ie/sport/soccer/2022/0316/1286874-harry-arter-joins-notts-county-on-loan-from-forest/).
That's a surprise to be honest. Only played four league games on loan at Charlton. Really quick drop for someone who had seemed the epitome of solid but consistent. Hard to see how he can be considered for the national team while playing in the Conference.

Very steep decline. Wasn’t he once touted for an England cap before he played for us? Was certainly seen as the lynchpin for Bournemouth when they were promoted to the PL.

His legs went about two or three years ago. And for a player whose game was all about energy and running power, that's proven fairly catastrophic to his career. This being the case, I was rather surprised to see Kenny continue to name him in squads time after time. Indeed this National League-standard player was as called up as recently as October.

He was very positive about Stephen Kenny which may have helped a wee bit.

Well at least it's only a short walk from Forest's ground to County's!

Yes, his only start under Kenny was in the defeat to Finland. Also made sub appearances against Andorra and Qatar.

Famously just 300 yards away, on the other side of the river Trent.

Arter was one of three senior Nottingham Forest players featured in a behind-closed-doors pre-season game against League One side Stevenage on Wednesday afternoon (26th); Shelvey and Steve Cook were the others. Stevenage won 2-0. None of the three have been involved in Forest's first team pre-season activity and they are all expected to leave during the transfer window.

He's on 40k a week for another year, so I doubt Harry will be in any particular rush to go anywhere!

Money for old rope. His agent's a superhero.
'Nots Forrest' sounds like a team name from one of those obscure unlicensed video games that nobody bought in the late 90s and early 2000s.

His decline was so rapid and inexplicable. From the lynchpin of an excellent Bournemouth team, to a series of largely non-playing associations with clubs anxious to unload him.

In at least a footballing sense I don't think he every really recovered from the death of his child - I wish the guy well.

Release confirmed by Nottingham Forest
https://www.nottinghamforest.co.uk/news/2024/june/05/forest-confirm-retained-list/
Played his last game for Forest three and a half years ago. Went on loan to Charlton in August '21 and played five league games in L1.
Went back to Forest that January and had a short loan with Notts County in non league in March '22.
Mad that he hasn't played in a competitive game in two years and only 34. Surely he retires now because who'd even want him.

At his age it was worth taking the money to prematurely end his career. Shows what a mess Forest were at the time when they gave him that contract.

Has joined Precision Football in the UAE second tier, along with Ravel Morrison and Northern Irish striker Jamie Ward. It's basically a lower-league English team transplanted to Dubai
