I agree Bonnie (apart from your apostrophe placement, I really have never heard of an Irish centre half (e.g. Richard Dunne) making/missing tackles and picking up yellow/red cards aplenty, so ffs to Sku for predicting that one.
Hard to say if it was more insightful than 'Coleman is a heartbeat away from giving away a penalty', but it's up there.
Maybe Villa are a team under pressure and whose back 4 come under pressure a lot but it would be mean to quibble over such perfect footie knowledge.

I am now a bit shy to predict that Randolph will eventually concede another goal.

enough with the madness Geysir. I mean there's bold predictions and there's madness.

It is borderline insanity I would say. :)

Aston Villa kept a clean sheet and won their first PL game in twenty attempts with a centre back partnership of Lescott and Okore. It must be a huge weight off Remi Garde's shoulders even if they are still well adrift. It could be difficult for Clark (and Richards) to get back into the side in the short-term at least. Clark did come on in injury time last night.

Scores what looks likely to be Villa's winner in their F.A. Cup replay against Wycombe.

Edit- ended 2-0.

Marking very slack but a bullet header all the same.

Just looking at the goal Villa conceded to Liverpool there and it's a bit worrying that Clark can't get on that team.

He'll surely get a few games after this.... 0-6 with twenty minutes left.

Joleon Lescott must have been washing his car during the Liverpool game. He did clean it very well mind.

Bringing the likes of Lescott and Richards in to your club is bad judgement in my Opinion. At Least Joleon can clean his car which could be useful.

Conceded a penalty, which was missed.

Already losing by 4 goals so wouldn't have made much difference.

Martin Keown on Clark on BBC updates :
"Clark is one of the players to build around next season. He gets his head on it, first class.

"There is one for the future."

Nice to see a defender like Keown say this but does he realise Clarks age I wonder.

Rare footage here of Stutts evaluating Ciaran Clark as part of his infamous gut test. Shay Given was supposed to be the barometer but made a bit of show of himself.

#Nufc have met release clause in Ciaran Clark's contract at Aston Villa. Can play centre-half, left-back and holding midfielder.

Unless he plays full back I don't see where he can start. Can't see Rafa picking anyone other than Mbemba and Lascelles at CBs.

Just saw the video above. How does anyone born and reared in Derry think the famine took place in the 1920s? Especially when your choices are 1920s, 1750s, or 1840s? How young was he when he went abroad?

He wasn't reared in Derry (though close enough).

How can anybody still call it a "famine" with a straight face?

But that's a discussion for another day.

Quite disheartening that there has been no PL move yet for any of our players. I suspect Brady will eventually move to a bottom half team but I think Hendrick and Duffy will remain in the Championship. And it looks almost certain Clark will. I even thought Hoolahan would've had an outside chance at a move but that's not to be.

On the upside Darron Gibson is on course to have a full pre-season. And Tommie Hoban has an outside chance of featuring for Watford. And the likes of O'Kane and McGeady haven't been cut loose yet.

Would like to see Lenihan get a chance at Hull but I suspect Bruce leaving and someone like Zola coming in won't do the chances of that much good.

Charlie Darwin
02/08/2016, 1:28 AM
Well there have been Premier League moves for Hendrick but they were knocked back by a club who have the financial resources to drive a hard bargain for a player they don't want to lose. Brady is in a similar situation - there's interest but he's worth more to a financially strong club like Norwich than he is to the teams interested in buying him. Some of those players may need to do another season in the Championship and see how they're set then but it's not necessarily a bad thing. On the other hand, there's still another month to go and most Premier League teams do their business late.

Maybe he was mixing up Ireland and the Ukraine.

Clark to Newcastle. Certainly a road back to the Premiership but whether he'll be playing regularly is another matter.

Won 4-1. Thus presume he had a decent game.
Better then Blackburn's Shane Duffy who got two own goals!

He's a liability, will always make goal conceding errors.

Look at how the joker performed at the Euros, dreadful!

I still like him though and think he's better than our other options, bar O'Shea but time is catching up with him obviously. He had a poor second half against Belgium, really poor, but he was good in his other one and a half games, and excellent in the B&H playoff and Swiss friendly.

Got a tidy header for Newcastles opener today.

Also a consolation goal for proud Irishman Scott Hogan, scrappy enough.
