Is the Portugese league over or are you at home

No still over in portugal first. 3 more weeks til im home...any clubs lookin for a striker then? as planners said: 'one that runns headlessly'

- there are 18 games in the league per season - run in the FAI and MJ average 8 / 9 games , then you have the cup with another good run = 5 / 6 games - so overall you'll have 32+ games approx over a season -
Dual players are missing from May to Sept -
Won;t work

Then keep as it is and tell people to stop moaning about crap pitches cause of the weather, both options you get the dual players for a few months so either way you going to encounter the problem

I have been thinking about the summer soccer idea and it doesn't work for most clubs but the way the weather is now having to play midweek games at the end of season is a real possibility. I have a suggestion don't know if it will work but here goes

play league games mid - jan to end may
play all cups and shield games sept to nov

so for example at end of season all teams can play last games on same day.
if a team or teams advance in fai or mjc or senior they can still be playing continuous football.
you can have more games ie Clare Cup, premier shield,1st , 2nd, 3rd div shield so teams knocked out of cup can play shield.
more clare teams can play in Fai and Munster comp.
just an idea i know its probably not going to work for some reason or another:)

Anyway , CDSL should make the switch to Summer Soccer altogether, it's the best option and a lot less games would be getting called off, pitches would be better too

Fair point but the dual players would not be available and I know your going to harp on about them making a choice etc etc but at the end of the day there are that many dual players in the CDSl that the standard of the league will collapse - also how will the MJ and FAI be affected ?[/QUOTE]

planners how can you say the standard of the league will collapse if dual players not available to clubs  you are disrepecting alot of good clubs & players in clare with that statement.. most teams should have a big enough squads to cover missing players and your own manager is on here enough times praising your squad and stressing it is not totally reliant on dual players  there is also a lot of players out there not playing any football because summer soccer might suit them or because they have stopped playing due to training / working hard and then getting dropped when the dual players return from other sports ..

Summer soccer is the way to go. 'Dual players' my ****! Let them off, when it comes down to it they always, always play the GAA over the soccer.

As for Summer soccer , the main argument is around dual players. Says it all really.

For the MJ and FAI , wouldn't they be beginning as the season is coming to a close. Teams on a roll would just continue into these competitions. It may drag the season on for a couple of clubs but if they are competing at the end of these competitions , isn't that a good thing.

I apoligise OG , collapse is a strong word - its just very frustrating when you have dual players with great ability not being available for half the season { the most important part may i add } - and I agree there is alot of strength and dept in the squad but at the end of the day you want your best 11 starting :ball:

Summer soccer is the way to go we'll get bigger crowds at games, nobody wants to come out in the wind and rain sunday morn to watch football, on a fine day alot more come out and watch games,as for dual players what do teams do when they are gaa'in,get on wit out them,we might lose some good soccer players but theres plenty more there who want to play soccer

Why does this not be put to the vote of all the football teams in Clare? Time to wake up and smell the coffee, summer football is the way to go.

In theory based on weather yes - ask the mayo league why they reverted to winter football. The summer soccer nearly ruined their league, however it might suit CL. Who knows

A balanced debate is required before any decision.

Personally as an auld fella with dodgy knees, summer football would finish my career. Me auld knees love the soft turf in the winter, so they do:D

It gets discussed at every AGM, and I thought there was supposed to be a committee organised to look into it and discuss with the clubs. Not sure if that happened yet. Perhaps in new year.

Impressive stuff from Avenue today. Scoreline flatters a bit as they got 2 late goals but no doubt they deserved their win. Best of luck to them in the open draw.

Good win for the rovers yesterday - tough battle back in Doolin - galeforce winds didn;t help and underfoot conditions a bit sticky -

Not bad for a club who use these competitions to give those lads on the fringes a run. Will this remain the policy line as you progress further??? Although can't see that happening this weekend, sorry.

I thought it was easy, the likes of yourself and others who won't really feature in the league games will get a run in these cup games.

Planners it'd be more in Rineanna's line trying to maintain their current league form seeing as ye've never actually won the league! It helps in the F.A.I. when you get handy draws also ie. Newcastlewest Rovers (the B team in that area) and Broadford Utd - world beaters

All doing well in their leagues! - can;t say we're world beaters either but still further than the other CDSL teams :D
First - I would hope at that stage of the tournament we'd be heading into the 10/ 11 season !
I would think the possibility of playing in Europe would far outshine the Cannon :D

Good luck v Killarney. We played them 3 weeks ago. Great set up, good footballing team. Dont like it when you get stuck into them. Watch out for the home town refereeing, some of the worst I've seen.
