avenue 1 newmarket 0...bar the 1st 20 mins this was a very poor game to watch..how newmarket played your man in goals in front of skinny i'll never know...ball came across just over head height keeper went to catch it and let it through his hands.a mc donagh just tapped it in from 5 yards..newmarket had a few chances late on but got none on target..avenue's league now..

1 more win fo Ave and that secures the league baring NOF win all their remaining games and Rovers beat Ave - -

Yeah Avenue are home and hosed after last night. Close game last night and could have gone either way. Shame about the mistake from the keeper but he done well otherwise. Russell was very good at the back though and dealt with everything well.

Will be an good cup tie Sunday morning in the village, especially after the carry on of an Avenue player at the final whistle last night. Totally uncalled for.

Bit disrespectful to other teams there cousinsyl ...

Am I not entitled to my opinion, the same as you are entitled to yours? In no way was I disrespecting any team by giving an opinion.

You seem to have a comment on everything I say these days anyway so get it off your chest lad!!!

I was impressed with Avenue last night. Thought they showed a hunger I had not seen the last time I saw them play in Bunratty. While I agree they have 3 tough games remaining I expect them to win 1 of them at least.

They should give avenue the medals now IMO.

Newmarket were unlucky but at this point in the season u have to have more games played and more points on the board....League is very competitive and u couldnt see anyone winning all there remaining games

missed that syl can you fill us in. tough game last night alot of sore bodies today. just one comment i thought the ref was excellent last night he let the players get on with it and was firm when he needed to be. we often give out about the refs so lets praise one when we get the chance.

Ref was very good and di not let the sidelines influence his judgement when things heated up. Thought Avenue played some good stuff last night and kept possession well.
I agree with csd, I think that should be enough as others are unlikely to win all their remaining games.

I am sorry but what game were you watching , Newmarket were all over Avenue from the start of the game until the finish they had 4 0r 5 good chances to finish the game off . Avenue rode there luck last night for the majority of the game they had one chance that came form a mistake from the Newmarket keeper which in fairness they put away . They are a very lucky team and I am sure that luck will finally run out on Sunday morning

Nothing in it really. Just a bit of celebration in front of Mallo at the end. Thought it was uncalled for.

Agreed on comments on the ref. Thought he handled the game well.

Looks like the town teams are getting a foothold in the premier again. Possibly 4 teams (Avenue, Hermitage, Rock and maybe Lifford) in Premier next year will mean some great derbies.

Game was switched to Sixmilebridge, we raced into a 3 goal lead by HT.
Manus pulled it back to 3-3. Both sides had chances to win it. Won on pens 4-3. Not good for the heart but great for the neutrals.

well done prem rep
Heres a report on te avenue v newmarket game...battle! Seriously though these games are always tight, newmarket started the better and had a lot of possesion without really testing the keeper. Barry nugent had a long shot for avenue and the keeper saved it with the help of the crossbar.newmarket scored from a long throw from which hayso scored a good header. Gary Flynn scored a free kick from at least 35yards out, it was some goal, reminded me of roberto carlos. Second half was avenues half in my opinion and they got the winner from a cross into the box which was knocked down by russ and barry nugent headed home the winner. Fair play to newmarket though they made it a nervous last few minutes for us but i think we deserved it in the end. Avenue/rock/bridge celtic and bridge utd B left, any predictions for the cup?

Good win for Newmarket....fair play!!!

Have to agree with you Sheik, he has ruined 2 or 3 games iv been involved in this year. I thought it was just our team he had a grudge against till i read your post. He's just a bad ref, its as simple as that. However, there are some good refs in the league in fairness to them.

Can i just say what a feckin pleasure it has been playing ball in the sun over the last few weeks. Summer soccer has to be considered, even if only on trial some year

rats were 2 up after 15 mins. Daithi o’connell with the first nice finish then cheeky chipped skinny for 2nd. Rats keeper spilled ball and newmarket player tapped it in to make it 2 1. Then Julian gave red to rats centre half and pen to newmarket for a handball. hayes scored, 2-2 half time. Ryan Kelly got rats third. Then newmarket got equaliser from a corner kick and got the winner 5 mins from time. Daithi o’c was robbed of a penalty and newmarket centre half could have got red for it at 3-3 but in sayin that newmarket could have had a 2nd penalty as well. Entertaining game. draw would hav been fair result imo

While I agree avenue were best team all season..it will be a bit tarnished wit carry on this year..but that's life let's hope Newmarket don't take Sunday too serious :-)
I wouldnt go as far as to say that it has tarnished their achievement. They deserved to win the league and that fact stands out above any other. However I was disappointed with certain teams failure to capitalise on their recent losses and dropped points. Felt had there been more organisation among a few other teams then things would have been different. their form in their last 6 games= D-L-D-D-W-D. This highlights other teams failure to captalise as Avenue more than gave the other teams around them the opportunity to take advantage. Views?

Congrats Avenue well deserved imo. strong in every position with cover also the best team in the league wins it. my only gripe over the season would be the fixtures. why in gods name in 2010 can we not have a full list of provosional fixtures when the season starts. would stop managers picking and choosing who to play.
