They are running the League sure that's what they have to do with it they can get mid week games when they have a Player serving a suspension and get games off to await a transfer from LOI. And no later then last week from what i hear from friends in town got the Referee to call off the Game because they were Missing Keith "Ronaldo" Hartnett ha.... No wonder Johnny Corbett Left next it will be Colm Enright good club men gettting no money Poor lads...Well Done Johnny .....

Whats another Year is what will be Said at the end of the year without an FAI just like all those Liverpool Apes say after no Premier League ....
True for Roy Keane " Get on with it"

to be fair now i heard corbett left for family reasons thats why hes playing 2a football less training and stuff shur he could have went to fairview, balla or boro if he wanted to

New York Police Department arrested the bowling alley security guard

Published Date: 09 February 2010

A LIMERICK man is recovering in a New York hospital after being shot by a security guard in a dispute over smoking in a bowling alley.

Gerard Hourigan, 29, from Upper Grange, Bruff was shot in the stomach in the early hours of Saturday after he and his companion, Justin Donaghy (29), from Navan, were brought out of the AMF 34th Avenue Lanes in Queens and a fight ensued with the security guard.

Mr Hourigan's parents Tony and Eileen have flown to the US to be at their son's bedside.

The bowling alley security guard, Michael Iavecchio (54), is a retired New York corrections officer. He has since been charged with two counts of second-degree assault after the altercation in the Woodside area of the New York borough.

The violent confrontation unfolded after Mr Iavecchio, who was armed, asked the men to leave the bowling alley because they were smoking cigarettes in a vestibule.

Both victims were treated at the nearby Elmhurst Hospital for their injuries. Mr Iavecchio was armed with a .380 calibre pistol, which he was licensed to carry. The two Irishmen are being charged with menacing.
Mr Hourigan's brother Ray flew to New York on Sunday with his parents, Tony and Eileen. "Gerard works here as an electrician and is married to Julie. He is out here since February 2003. He is in intensive care at the moment, but he is receiving good care," he said.

Gerard went to school in Bruff and played underage hurling and football for Bruff and soccer with Holycross and Janesboro in Limerick.

Limerick county councillor Eddie Wade said the thoughts of the people of the Grange area are with the Hourigan family.

"I was very saddened to hear the news. My own nephew lives out there and would know Gerard, and I met him myself when I visited there. The Hourigans are a very hard working and honourable family. I wish them well. We are all thinking of them at this time," said Cllr Wade.

Got a message back from Ray saying Jed is in bad shape but will be fine in time, could have been alot worse.

i think corbally could beat balla...watched the game at the weekend and the pitch was a disgrace..it will suit corbally again..no disrepect to them but you cant play football on it..they showed great fight to get the result though..so i think balla might struggle on the field

i dont see how are corbally odds on to get relegated?the three teams above them are only a couple of points away!!they've already beaten balla this year..look at the table 4 points away from balla as it stands..thats 6 teams that can easily slip back..odds on surely not!!

At this point in the league program....the answer would be yes...when the league program is completed...maybe or maybe not... that is why the BEST TEAM usually wins the league..

Boro have as good a chance of winning the league as any team..By the way the league table is incorrect... Boro were awarded the 3 points from the balla match..the table does not reflect this..

think carew have what it takes to get outa the position that they find themselves in at the moment, tho it looks very tight at the bottom. their a few teams from mid table down should be looking ova their shoulders not only corbally and carew.

11/02/2010, 6:51 PM
carew will maybe stay up this year but if the two teams coming up from 1a for next season are anyway handy carew will be in big trouble next season.carew have just stayed up the last few seasons because the teams coming up are poor or their players are leaving them for so called bigger clubs.

its not our fault clubs that come up are not as good as we are,we can only beat what is put in front of us,i think we will be alwright this season, everyone from balla down are in trouble, balla could do with beating corbally or they will be in the relagation battle aswell

balla haven't a minor team or 17's for years and that will be their down fall and i don't think they ever will cos most players in that age group from the moyross and ballynanty areas play for bigger clubs like pike, fairview, boro, corbally i watch minor soccer and i see players from these areas play for these clubs cos there is no minor/17's teams in ballynanty or moyross which is a joke, but in all fairness balla have a great over 35's team, another five years they'll win the over 40's tourament

thats not fair on balla, they have been one of the top teams in limerick over the last ten or so years, carew park had the same problem over the last number of years,we are trying to bring in younger players, but the only problem is the bigger clubs are filling there heads with rubbish and they move on,only to sit on the bench,a long with carew i think balla had the most loyal players.

Balla have been a top team for the last 10 years but what redcardrory is right. They dont have any players coming through and that could hit them in a few years when the older players finish playing..Most of the curretn balla team came through the ranks with Balla. They dont have that anymore.
