Provides an assist on his debut to put the Baggies 2-1 up.
Goal. Ball played to Andrews about 20 yards out and his low left footed shot takes a nick and goes in.

Pretty bleak stuff for Wolves (I think this might be the last game for MM there) but a great debut for Andrews. Nice goal and was generally very good for them going forward. Wolves were so bad though.

Wants a long term deal at west brom and a great quote from him.

Andrews, who came on as a half-time substitute for the injured Paul Scharner, has admitted he had no qualms about celebrating his 84th-minute goal despite his previous allegiance to Wolves.

"I wasn't reluctant at all, not in the slightest," said Andrews on the club's official website.

"I don't feel I owe the club anything in particular. A few people have said to me since then that Robbie Keane didn't celebrate when he scored against Wolves for Villa.

"Well Robbie Keane didn't get booed every time he touched the ball or get pelters when he warmed up, so it's swings and roundabouts."

Think he's dead right, loyalty and respect to a club or set of supporters should never be unconditional.

Typical irish ....aren't we ...... Keith got 11 league goals this season ...... that's outstanding coming from a midfielder. If it was gerrard or lampard, the english would be saying world class yet we irish say his goals are not important!

Fair play to him ..... hope he keep putting them in the net ...... it's great to see

In fairness, there's a big difference in quality of competition when you compare the Premiership to the Championship. Andrews has two league goals in the Premiership, not eleven. If he had eleven Premiership goals, he'd be mentioned in the same breath as Dempsey, Lampard, and Bale, all of whom have ten goals so far this season.

Typical irish ....aren't we ...... If you go back a page or two Charlie D was pointing out how Keith was a scorer of important goals. I was only having a joke with Charlie D, saying that he has now scored unimportant goals (including the 5th v Wolves). That's why I put the smilie up - a slight clue.

Here's the context:

He seems to score important goals too. Of his 4 league goals this season, 3 have put his team in the lead and 2 were winners. His other goal was the second in a 3-0 win. Leader.

Another couple of game-changers from the scorer of important goals.

He actually has 2 goal in 1.5 game as he came on as sub in one!! That's some strike rate especially when you compare it to some of our 'strikers' in the Premiership! Also he has got 6 goals in his last 6 game, that is 6 goal in 5 games in reality, taking into account substitutions, if he keeps that up he will be mentioned in the same breathe as Dempsey, Lampard, and Bale.

Very decent player is Keith. Great ball striker, great engine, great athlete, great attitude. Especially nice to see a late developer, and kudos to Hodgson.

btw I think 9 goals from midfield in half a season in an underperforming Chamionship team is very creditable. His goal in Tallinn set us on our way and had he been fit for Russia in Dublin I think we may not have been so overrun. His return v Italy in May was very welcome, and he got a great goal too. He'd have scored the winner at home to Slovakia if Cox's peripheral vision was a bit better.

One of WBA's last few games of the season is at home against Blackburn. After all the abuse their fans gave him in the end I would love to see him score one of his "Important" goals in that game and help get Blackburn relegated.
I'm sure he would love it too.

Had a quick look round a few wba forums. To say they were unhappy with him joining would be an understatement. However am glad to say after 2 appearances and 2 goals they are coming around

They were unhappy signing a Euro 2012 bound international on a short term deal who scored 9 goals in half a championship season from midfield and cost absolutely nothing? Thats cracking business and a very low risk move

Charlie Darwin

Just involved in putting WBA 1-0 up at home to Chelsea. Recycled the corner and McAuley tapped home from the resulting shot. He seems to have made the midfield role his own already. Long and Cox on the bench.

Played the full game for them today. Wouldnt attribute WBAs turnaround in fortunes solely to Andrews but three games and three wins when he has been involved.

Seems to be establishing himself as a big player for WBA and I would argue he is one of our 'must haves' this summer along with Dunne, Given and Keane.

The way the BBC has lined the sides up here http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17163246 suggests he was partnered in the middle by Reid today. An Error? Or in these times of midfield paucity, do we have a midfield pairing available who are in an EPL top ten placed side and just took out Chelsea ?

Charlie Darwin

No, Reid was right back. Tamas came on to replace him as a like for like swap.

I was not really aware of all the goings on on Blackburn, rather overshadow with the Kearns stuff
here is a link giving a bit of background to it all.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/nov/18/blackburn-rovers-steve-kean-keith-andrews

Actually Andrews does not hold any hard feelings towards Blackburn.

"I don't take any satisfaction whatsoever in seeing them second bottom of the Premier League," Andrews said. "I have some good friends there and it is not nice to see. I am not one for holding grudges.

Anyway things seem to be going well for Andrews at the moment, I think WBA have won every (3)
game he has played so far and they are 3rd placed in the Prem on current form.

The same thought occurred to me for the first time wednesday evening when he went down clutching his knee.

"The whole country comes to a standstill and it's at times like this that you are very proud to be Irish.

"We are a very patriotic nation. I have come across a lot of nationalities, especially in my time playing football, and I haven't come across a more patriotic nation."

Love reading this stuff, in my line of work ive also come across many nationalities and I would definitely agree with this, I don't know what it comes down to(800 years etc played a part im sure :D) but we definitely are.

It's a shame our fellow country men couldn't have extended that to club football in this country.
You can try make out you're as Irish as can be, but wearing a Man Utd/Liverpool shirt kind of takes away from it

Our player of the two games so far by a distance - I know thats not saying much but it was pretty evident to all I think the desire and commitment he has shown, where others failed.

To be fair only sledge has scored.
Keith did manage to get in about 12 shots, which I find remarkable, I think that is as many as the rest of the side put together!!

Although it has been said the nearest he came to scoring was booting the ball intot he crowd after being sent off! :p

I can only recall a couple of free kicks and a header.

SwanVsDalton
26/06/2012, 7:22 PM
He could've had a hat-trick in the last 15 against Croatia. Keeper saved a shot from distance, header he should've scored and flashed a shot wide from 20 yards.

Andrews signs 3 year deal at Bolton.

He's writing in tomorrow's Examiner about the Euros. It'll be interesting to read what he has to say. He's a bright and articulate guy.

Don’t miss Keith Andrews’ exclusive column in the Irish Examiner tomorrow, Saturday, when he offers an insider’s view of Ireland’s disappointing Euro 2012 and reflects on the lessons to be learned ahead of the World Cup qualifying campaign.

Have an awful lot of time for Andrews, commited , hard working player who gives it his all and has done a good Job for us since becoming a part of the irish side.
Think its a good move going to bolton , with coyle there hopefully they will go straight back up .

Absolutely thrilled he didnt join Celtic, way too good for them

Spot on. He will score goals for bolton but he is a liability for us. If you are not capable of passing the ball simply then all the running/tackling in world is pointless. How can he be ahead of gibson. mccarthy, hoolahan and ireland on ability. if andrews remains a regular how can anyone see us playing better possesion football and using our midfield as an attacking platform?

so, yes he can pass the ball ten yards

Arsene Wenger thinks you need a team of artists with no attention to their mental / leadership attributes. What does he have? A team of fancy dans who choke all the time. Eric Morecambe was a genius, but he needed Ernie Wise to illustrate it. Teams often need the likes of Andrews as much as they need the Pirlos. Sure, we'd prefer if we had a Makelele or a Deschamps but we don't.

Disappointed he didn't get a Premier League move - he's easily good enough to be playing for half the sides in the league. I suppose at his age he has to look at keeping his family settled in the north west.

In fairness, that was only over three matches at the Euros. What is his average pass length over a full season? That would be a much more accurate figure.
