Be interested in yours, or anyones, opinion regarding the structure of mayo league division 2. It must be very hard to motivate a team to get out of this division. A team cannot plan from season to season, because they dont know who they will be playing against in that season, as the division is split into groups a and b, and the teams you faced last season may be in the other group this season. Add this uncertainty to the number of teams pulling out of the league, and the introduction of new teams,( be it new clubs, existing clubs entering b teams, or c teams in celtics case), and its a lottery!
Even then, second place in your group will get you into a set of 2 playoffs to get promoted. So, an unlucky team, with potential, may be stuck in that division.
So whats the alternative? is it time to revert to a 10-team division 2, with the other 5/6 teams forming a division 3? These teams can easily play 3/4 rounds in the league until the league entry means a 10-team division. This "division 3" existed in the past in the Mayo league, albeit with more teams in the overall mayo league at the time( newport town, parkside celtic, ballina rovers, etc...). Surely this would be fairer on progressive division 2 teams? Welcome any thoughts. Tom Kelly take note!!:)
The reason you dont have a division 3 is because they would not be aloud to enter in external competitions!!

Rumour Has it that MAD MICK is to Get the Ballyglass Job!!! ;)
This guy without doubt mad mick that is one of the luckiest managers in the Mayo league he has promoted Ballyheane and also Celtic but on each occasion has been overlooked to run there more senior teams. Regards will he take the job in Ballyglass would be a real challenge for Mick? question is do Ballyglass have the confidence to take Mick on? "IS HE THE SPECIAL ONE":)

to be honest, i think i leave it the way it is cause if you are struck in this division, you could be playing different teams each year and thus the team would not be "sick" playing the same opposition year in year out!!

Are you sure of that reno? Dont clubs who have a first team in div2 also play in conn/fai cups? How would that change if they were in a div3? its still a clubs first team, regardless of what division they play in, or is there some unknown rule in mayo league preventing this?:ball:

Last i heard Ballyvary had only 3 turn up for training. :(
Last you heard. When was this exactly. A year ago, two maybe. I'm in Hartlepool at the minute so I've missed the last couple of sessions but I'm sure I would have heard if this was the situation.
You heard from somebody who heard from somebody. Keep it to yourself. I notice Swift also seemed to be spouting rumours and he never returned to answer the questions I posed him.
Sorry mate, I dont want to have a go at you but posting that load of balls does nobody any good. Its just rumour and its not worth a toss.

:D
The very reason I was there. Doing a trip around the football grounds at the minute and thats what took me to Hartlepool. There are few other reason's a man might want to be in Hartlepool. I had a brilliant evening and didn't worry about the mighty Bombers existence once. Not that there is a cause to worry about anything despite what I seem to read on here.

Wasnt really on long enough to rate . Hardly got 3 touches. Came on with O Flynn and both got no real supply up front. Bit dissapointing for the Large Claremorriss contingant who Travelled. Cork Friday ( RTE 2) and The Drogs the week After!!! Oh Boy :(

JP how did Paul Burke Memorial match go? Give a report plz.
Partry beat Ballinrobe 4-3 after extra time. Ballinrobe were 2-0 up at half time and Partry equalised with two goals by Michael Lally in the second half. Ballinrobe made it 3-2 and John Farragher equalised to bring it to extra time. Ciaran Hennelly got the winner in the second half of extra time. It was a good hard fought but sporting match and I don't know if Jaun Pablo would agree with me but I think Partry had the most chances and deserved their win.:ball:

would have to agree alright even though you guys keep addressing me as JP, but doesn't matter who you think i am, it was a great final and thats all that matters, both teams know why we're their and it was great to see the nice crowd attendance considering the weather conditions, J.p's tackles were pretty late alright, its unusual to even see him attempt a tackle but thankfully their were no injuries, robe look in real trouble if you ask me, lack of quality on the bench proved the difference in my opinion, damo walsh and to name but a few will be missed and i think short_frank, you'll have to agree!!but like you said, ye had alot missing last season too so its not just us!!
we'll keep plugging away and who knows how the season will finish, well done to partry and was impressed with that hennelly lad, very good.
