Spurs 22 year old winger Mark Yeates has joined Leicester on loan untill the end of the season.
http://www.lcfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/NewsDetail/0,,10274~973744,00.html?
I'm starting to worry about Yeates, after all the fanfair about him a few years ago, he seems to be constantly out on loan, without ever really making progress into the starting XI at Spurs. Could be the next Willo Flood?

There are more than a few mistakes there to be fair, but lets not knock the effort. The best idea would be for someone to set up a wikipedia site, where we could all contribute whatever little knowledge we know and edit it ourselves. Hands up? And a patch for football manager should be out in two weeks to reference it all.

Yeah you could be right but at least he's on loan to a Championship side this time (although his last team, Colchester, are doing better than them at the moment). Hopefully he does well but at 22 it's probably his last chance to impress Spurs. To be like willow Flood wouldn't be so bad. I just I hope he doesn't do a Richie Partridge and hang on at Spurs until he is 24 without a chance of 1st team football. A move to a half-decent championship side would be much better for his development.

Just thinking about the likes of Partrige, Flood, Yeates, McPhail etc.
A lot of skillfull little Irish players have been dumped by Premiership clubs in the last 5 to 10 years. I didn'T really rate Partrige but a few guys on here thought/think that he is an exceptional talent. Are these cases an example of these players not suiting the English game and would have been better off playing on the continent or were they simply just not good enough?

A quick trip to soccerbase.com and this is the Celtic squad's goals per game ratio is:
Name Games Goals Goals per game
J Vennegoor of Hesselink 14 12 0.86
D Riordan 6 5 0.83
M Zurawski 24 10 0.42
D O'Dea 8 3 0.38
S Pearson 6 2 0.33
K Miller 19 6 0.32
T Gravesen 19 6 0.32
J Jarosik 19 5 0.26
C Beattie 4 1 0.25
A McGeady 20 5 0.25
S Nakamura 33 8 0.24
E Sno 10 1 0.10
S McManus 30 2 0.07
N Lennon 28 0 0
P Hartley 1 0 0
M Wilson 10 0 0
L Naylor 31 0 0
S Maloney 10 0 0
S Pressley 5 0 0
G Caldwell 20 0 0
P Telfer 27 0 0
B Balde 10 0 0As a midfielder, McGeady's return is only bettered than Graveson, who is a goalscoring midfielder and Jarosik, who has played up front and is a target man from free kicks and corners.
Nakamura is only slightly worse, but he takes all the free kicks.
you'd have to imagine McGeady's would be better if he was allowed to take the free's, but with Nakamura on the pitch, it's not going to happen.
It's not worth saying anything about O'Dea's goal ratio at the moment, wait until the end of the season, or at least until Easter before saying something like he should be playing up front, or ahead of McGeady

O'Dea likes to get forward, has confidence in his ability and technique and his goals are a major bonus from a young centre half. If you watch him he is always gambling on little runs into the box and hangs around long enough to pick up the sort of scraps like he did yesterday and against Kilmarnock. Relatively untested defence-wise at the moment it has to be said.
Fingers crossed he can eventually transfer this early promise into an Ireland shirt. Must be a better prospect than yer man Paddy Kohlmann ;)

leicester v luton 1-1
this was dire, of interest only for the ammount of our lot involved, with Maybury and Yeates starting for the home side with Logan on the bench and McCarthy missing out due to an injury sustained in training in the week, it would have been interesting to see if McCarthy would have been selected, or if he comes straight back in as he has been taking some criticism on the clubs message boards of late for his performances, but most of these have been in away fixtures so ive not seen the games.
Maybury was ok, he played at right back and talked to Yeates throughout, who played in front of him, which was good to see, and he shot narrowly over from distance in the first half, however deep in injury time with his side pushing he was the last man, isolated one on one with their striker when a long luton punt gave them both something to chase, he had time, he had space, he had given himself a few yards, he got there comfortably first, he could have put it out, given it to the keeper or even taken a touch and got turned, but instead he slashed at it with his weaker left foot and hit the onrushing luton player , the only opposition player within an asses roar of him and he crashed it straight against him, very very poor and very very lucky it happened to rebound out of play and didnt give the striker a clear run at goal and may have put leicester in the real deep brown stuff at the foot of the table.
Yeates i liked the look of, his goal on 6 minutes visibly boosted him when he, had he so wished, would have had time for a nice cup of tea, before putting into an empty net. just what he would have wanted on a home debut. he was taking the leicester set free kicks and corners, doing so pretty well with his right , but from open play would switch onto his left on occasion when crossing, nice balance and nice to see a player looking to cross off his weaker side. he was withdrawn with 10 to go but wasnt fading and in my opinion looking most likely to create something. i thought he was unfortunate to get the tug but got a good reception from the home crowd. i would however like to see him getting on the ball more as time goes on and be involved in the play more often than he was on sat.
for luton, Bell, Foley, Keane and Emmanuel started and proir to coming off with injury very early on, Emannuel had taken 2 super corners and had been playing on the left of midfield.
Foley was decent, didnt get forward hardly at all but neither do i recall leicester crossing from his flank, he put in a few heavy challenges also.
Bell played on the right of midfield and never looked like getting past his man but did deliver the deadball for his sides equaliser and provided good quality from the set plays after Emannuels injury.he didnt give it away either in open play.Keane had a steady 90 but to be honest didnt catch my eye one way or the other.

and an interview with Yeates on his debut and debut goal, from the bluearmy site,
Loan captures' delight at making mark
By Andy Mann
New signing Mark Yeates said he could not have asked for more from his debut after scoring with his first touch in a Leicester City shirt.
Yeates was thrown into the starting line-up against Luton for his first appearance since joining on loan from Tottenham on transfer deadline day.
And he instantly repaid manager Robert Kelly's faith by scoring with six minutes on the clock of Saturday's Championship clash at the Walkers Stadium.
Yeates stroked the ball home from the edge of the area after Luton goalkeeper Marlon Beresford had blocked Iain Hume's first attempt.
"I was delighted to get the goal," the 22-year-old Irishman said. "It's always good to get a goal on your debut.
"The lads were saying that it was my first touch.
"I don't know if it was or not but, as I said, I am delighted. I couldn't have asked for much more.
"I saw Humey (Iain Hume) get put through on goal and thought that I'd better back up the play.
"Luckily enough, the ball came to me and I managed to take it well on my other side."
He added: "For the first 20 to 30 minutes, I thought we played well. We kept the ball moving and big Geoff Horsfield up there is a handful. If you are under pressure, you can clip it up to him.
"Hume is busy and I thought we were unlucky to be going in at half-time on level terms.
"We can take a lot of positives out of this into the next game at Ipswich, which we are all looking forward to."
Yeates said the goal - his first of the season - came after a frustrating period of his career.
The 22-year-old enjoyed a productive loan spell at Colchester last season where he made 44 appearances and helped the Layer Road club achieve promotion to the Championship.
This season, Yeates went out on loan again, this time to Hull when former Colchester manager Phil Parkinson was in charge.
However, Yeates endured what he described as a frustrating spell at the KC Stadium.
"It has been a bit frustrating for me after a really good season," he said.
"I went to Hull and things went a bit wrong. This is a nice way to start things here."

Yeah, great news. :)
Interview:
mms://channel67.celticfc.net/ondem/News/2007-02-06_am.wmv
Strachan:
“To come in today and have Aiden signing is great for everybody. I’ve just been speaking to the coaches and they’re delighted.
“Aiden’s shown trust in us – these are good years for him to learn the game and he’s trusted us to try and look after him that way, and we trust him and we believe he’s got a lot to offer.
“This has been going on for a few months. I’ve spoken to Aiden’s dad as well. He’s been in – not for the financial side – but just to see where the future lies and what he sees happening with Aiden, which is good.
“Usually you have to deal with agents over the phone so it’s nice to speak to a parent who wants to know what we see in the future for Aiden and what will happen.
“But the talks have all been about football and the financial thing has just been a matter of weeks.
“He brings goals, he brings excitement to the crowd, excitement to the players. We know he can beat people. He’s got good energy, he can get up and down the park.
“Physically he’s not bad as well, he’s been working on that, but there’s still more to be done and that will be the great challenge for Aiden and myself and the rest of the coaching staff, but he’s going to be a great asset, that’s for sure.
“At the moment Aiden’s just searching for what makes him the player he’ll be looking to be. When you get to 27-30 I think you’ve got the complete player.
“Aiden’s impatient because he’s looking for it now but we have to tell him that’ll come, and to use his assets at the right time. That’s just learning.
“When I look back to when I was 20 I never knew the game at all. I thought I knew a lot about the game but when I look back on it I knew very little at all about the game and what made me tick and what made me more valuable to the team. I only really started learning that in my late 20s.
“We have to have people who have the ability to beat players. I think it’s a must at this club.
“Also, like we showed the other day, there were 21 passes before we got the goal so we’ve got to have people who can pass the ball, we have to have people who can defend, so we have to have a lot of things in our locker to beat teams, and Aiden’s got a lot of that.
“The game is all about different facets and he (Aiden) has got a lot. It’s just putting them all together now in a package which is more beneficial for Aiden, the team and the club. But there’s plenty there and I’m so excited. It’s been a great, great day.
“We had good signings during the transfer window and now Aiden’s signed a new contract and it’s like signing a new player.
“And hopefully by the time we get to the end of Aiden’s contract we’ll be looking to give him another good contract and we’ll be watching a top, top player at work.”

McGeady set up Celtic's goal with an excellent cross. He mentions his crossing in his press conference saying Strachan has been working with him on it. Seems to have helped.

Sheridan's progress has been incredible. I don't even know if he was a Celtic player last season.
