Colin Doyle had a fantastic game aginst Wolves today. On this performance, he is the outstanding candidate to become Shay Givens successor. This could happen a lot sooner than most people, myself included, anticipated. Best young keeper I have seen in a long time.
Supple is a fantastic talent also. He played today against Norwich and he looks to me to be a far better keeper than Doyle was at the same age (19). I reckon he'll be the successor to Given.
They both look excellent though. Logan is apparently pretty handy also though I haven't seen much of him. Good riddance Paddy Kenny.
Now all we need is a left back and another couple of central defenders and we're rolling.

Don't forget we need a hard-tackling box-to-box CMF player more urgently. :)

preston v leicester 0-1
Logan managed to hang on to the shirt despite a poor previous game and kept a clean sheet in a win/game which some are describing as the most important in recent times at this club, Maybury was dropped to the bench, and Yeates not involved at all, with Henderson and St. Ledger playing for preston, the former keeping Lonergan (green granny job anyone?:) ) out of their promotion chasing side.
heres the os report, look like Logan had a lucky moment with a charged down clearence in the first half.

Stephen Quinn scored twice for Sheffield United's reserves in a 2-0 win over Man City's reserve side who had Karl Moore as an unused substitute.

Strachan has decided to allow Jim O'Brien to play for Dunfermline in the Scottish cup final, even though he wasn't allowed play against Celtic in the league. Should be a good experience for him.

Sunderland vs Burnley
Connolly had an assist, missed, then made a penalty, and I almost fell over when he missed the first one. Murphy looked quite good and tapped in Connolly cross for the first goal. Stokes looked OK to start but he quite often shows his youth when he is on the wing shooting and he has two men in the box. Miller wasn't too bad either, helping Sunderland too their 2nd penalty

Murphy has improved no end. I remember I seen him playing for Waterford and I thought them he had something to suggest he could play at a higher lever but he has surpassed my expectations Miller done well, but I think he lacks the physical presence to be a central midfielder. Stokes started well, but lacks experience in the left wing position to make a proper impact. Connolly was the pick of the Irish, busy, tenacious and always dangerous. Showed great character to step up for the second peno after missing the first.
For Burnley good to see young Chris McCann. Started well, unfortunatley had to go off due to an injury early on.

Murphy had a great game... Connolly had a good game. Liam Miller played well over all, but got cought once or twice.... Stokes played like a school boy!! Disapointed with him again. Has good technique but doesn't use the ball well.

Watched the game last night as well, missed the first 15 minutes or so. Agree with most of the comments here, Murphy was the standout player of the Irish lads, Connolly was decent enough, Miller didn't impose himself enough on the game for a central midfielder (apart from the pass that led to Sunderland's second penalty) and Stokes was unimpressive, apart from a run midway through the second half. He does seem a little lost out on the wing, anyone know why Keane is playing him there instead of up front?

Cheers theworm, but you missed Cregg's goal for Falkirk, Jamie McCarthy's goal for the Accies and O'Carroll's goal for Ross County. Good to see McCarthy score again, and I still have hope that O'Carroll will make it as a striker when he returns to Celtic, despite being played as a centre half and a midfielder on loan. The most recent rumours have McCarthy moving to Sheffield United, but I can't see him moving to Sheffield when Celtic are monitoring him.

Logan played with Maybury on the bench,McCarthy back in training but not available and Yeates sent back to spurs during the week, deemed ''surplus to requirements'' by the new manager, not a good verdict on his time here, being surplus to requirements for a problem position in one of the worst sides in this clubs history doesnt bode well for him, will be interesting to see where he ends up, he wont be missed by too many for too long in these parts.
Logan on the other hand, now basking in the glow of 2 vital status saving clean sheets and seemingly busy again on sat, justifying the faith shown in him.
Colgan and Devanney for the home side.

Heres an interview with Conrad Logan, looking back at the season and is recent unexpected return to the side, from the bluearmy site.
I never gave up working when I was axed - logan
By Bill Anderson
Conrad Logan started the season as third choice - but he will end it as the man in possession of the Leicester City goalkeeper's shirt against Wolves on Sunday.
That is a remarkable upsurge in the Irishman's fortunes.
He made his breakthrough early in the season in the Carling Cup, then had a run of 13 Championship outings before dropping out in early November.
That seemed to be it for Logan.
But, when Nigel Worthington arrived as caretaker, the 21-year-old Eire youth international was surprisingly restored to the fold.
And the last two away victories, achieved with clean sheets, have lifted City up the table in dramatic style away from the relegation risk, and provided more valuable first-team experience for the keeper who broke through while on loan at Boston United last season.
Logan will be in the No.1 position against Wolves - and will be the man in possession over the summer when the competition he already faces might be increased if a goalkeeper is among the expected summer influx under Milan Mandaric.
For now, though, Logan has his place, and he said: "At the start of the season, there was Paul Henderson and Rab Douglas ahead of me, so I knew it was going to be hard.
"I just wanted to get a good pre-season under my belt, build on the loan spell and try to get into the team."
He did well initially then, like so many young players, hit a rough patch and went back on to the bench, feeling, no doubt, that that was it for the season, barring injury.
With City having no second-team programme, it was tough on him.
But Worthington's first name on the team sheet for the Norwich game was Logan's.
He said: "With the team in that position, the new gaffer came in and gave me the chance. I am grateful for that and I just want to play the games again.
"It was a surprise but I was ready, as I was under Rob Kelly, waiting for my chance again and I never gave up, just working hard."
Goalkeepers thrive on clean sheets and the last two, at Preston and Barnsley were in no short measure down to Logan's abilities.
Much was made of Nisse Johansson's late winner at Preston but a super Logan save deep into stoppage time equally secured the valuable three points.
He said: "We needed clean sheets, especially the position we were in. We had to prove we were resilient and strong. In the first two games, we showed some good bits, but it all came together against Preston and at Barnsley.
"I think I have improved, which was the aim for me this season. It is all about confidence, playing games and doing well."

Phenomenal goal haul for the Irish in today's championship. I read Owen Garvan got 2 assists too.
Tabb, Stokes, Murphy 2, Connolly, Walters 2, Best 2, Keogh, Rowlands...
All very young except Connolly & Rowlands.

Whats the news on David McGoldrick (is he Irish)? He was banging them in on loan at Bournemouth and he got recalled to Soton. I don't think him and Eddie are related but I am told they are father and son

Were my eyes deceiving me or did I see Paul McShane do the "elastico" trick to beat a player and set up the first West Brom goal?
Only one angle but here it is:

It'd be better on another angle as it looks like he got lucky by hitting the opponents leg but it actually doesn't. Excellent piece of skill for a centre half.

lol thats classic. David McGoldrick's not irish. A lad i know said he used to play football with him and was never led to believe in the slightest that he was irish in any way shape or form
