Amazed to see Drogs v DLK still going ahead at reg time of of 745 on Fri, thought after Riverdance post match last week it was nailed on for a 1pm on Saturday.

Both sets need to be on best behaviour, plus only noticed today final league game is same venue, same two !

Tasty

Hopefully the home end will be like a morgue with them already relegated. Wont stop the few from hanging about for trouble or our own gloating and too ready to jump in to another dance off. This week though? I'd have the game scheduled for Saturday or unday afternoon myself mainly for the clubs to minimise the risk of sanction when under close scrutiny. No skin off na Gardaí noses eiher way when its not their job to deal with public disorder.

Think there will be very little longford town fans in Terryland after the terrible performance in Lissywoolen last week. There was talk of a supporters bus heading but thats pulled. Just want this season to end!

Saw that about the bus somewhere. That’s a shame they couldn’t get the numbers.

Very confused seeing as they already go to extra time and penalties

Never knew that, so the games over this weekend have to have a result!

About you being confused, whats your take on an FAI Cup revamp as my post referred too?

What sort of revamp? You can't change an entire senior cup competition to suit the junior leagues, in which the junior clubs don't win any games. It's already weighted from July onwards to suit the junior teams back in preseason, and there's already plans to change all football in Ireland to a calendar season.

If the junior leagues don't want to change to a calendar season, it's their fault if the cup doesn't suit them.

Other than that, there's no revamp you can possibly undertake to a knockout cup.

Plenty of European leagues seed the top tiers and make them play away to lower / non league teams.

Instead of qualifiers, you could do that instead.

Manufacturing an annual trouncing of non-league teams wouldn’t do much to improve the competition. For what it’s worth I don’t think there’s anything drastically needed to improve it as it is now. If anything, the FAI Cup means more to fans of clubs in this country than a lot of other leagues national cup does IMO, given it’s one of only two major honours up for grabs, as well as accounting for a quarter of the countries European spots. I can’t think of any other country where you’d get 10x the cup final attendance as you would with a league game between the same two sides.

The only revamp idea I have would be to add an extra round and have even more junior clubs in the cup, give them an extra round to play to get up to fitness before LOI clubs entered.

If it was the GAA they would add a backdoor to the FAI cup. There's more backdoor action in the GAA than on onlyfans.

Was about to say this, UK and Ireland cup is huge for all sides even if it has been devalued a bit at the insistance of EPL clubs for meaningless early European rounds, possibly the Copa del Rey? You'd think it would mean more in Germany with as the only possible silverware for most sides, ditto France. But seems more like a way to cause some financial trickle down effect on the continent to lower leagues. If it aint broke leave it not sure I like not having replays though understand why they were done away with with only a handful of ft clubs that it may not have as much a negative impact as benefits if a replay s away in comparison to earning a replay away in an Anfield and scale could sort a non-league clubs finances out. But then I also think there should just be a CWC, purist or old fashioned....if it was financed like EL qualifiers. Streamlining qualification at non-league or addition of preliminary rounds maybe. Not seeding and taking away from the fun of the cup draw itself.

Theres an awful lot of instability going behind the scenes at the club. In Longford Leader this week a certain town official who went as SF co clr and failed was whingin about the mins of the Co Co and the local media publicised his post on twitter criticsin the Co Co. all sour grapes. If he concentrated more on the runnings of our club it would be in a better place. Shame on him. Theres huge disquiet on facebook at whats going on. Its being like this since the end of last season after the Kerry FC press release when a prominent town supporter got a 7 game ban for confrontin club official after final whistle tellin on him to resign!

The simple fact is a large portion of fans who travel to matches don't work or live in the county as it's in a hape economically.

The population of Longford Town is something like just over 10,000, if we were getting 1,000 at a home game that's a serious % of the population so it's unrealistic given our current standing to expect large away crowds.

We're also bottom of the first division and likely to take a hammering tonight, with the cost of living you can't blame people not wanting to probably pay 25+ quid for a bus, ticket in etc

Feel for Longford and it's barely 10 minutes into the game. They've been woeful, Galway 2 up and it doesn't really flatter them. Looks like a horrible evening for a game of football and if they let their heads drop Galway could rack up an embarrassing score line.

Bohs were the best team by far and fully deserved the win. A few rovers players left a bit on bohs players when going for the ball and the ref let them go. He gave Devoy a yellow for a soft one. Bradley operating up to 10 yds outside the technical area and not pulled for it. Anyway fcku it Bohs 1-0 Rovers

Jack B

Bohs played well to a point but I think that kind of line-up will struggle to create and score goals outside of set-pieces generally.

Rovers just awful. Initially was going to make the excuse for them of saying they look half the team they are when they lack mobility at wing back, but they were terrible regardless.

Haryy Kenny is willing and able and can be available for nowt! No signs of any barns dancing in Weavers Park. A cup run would have been nice but not sure id swap a run to the final for last weeks 3 points, could be crucial and the priority so similar as said above Im finding it hard to be particularly fussed. Would be different if in 4 or 5th and could be the differece between European football next season or not.

Bradley and his team have achieved so much that personally I think if he wants it he should be given the opportunity to rebuild the team… he owes us nothing bar 100% commitment we owe him loyalty as he’s earned that

If the players have stopped listening to him, then it's an exercise in futility.
If he puts out a weakened team against our biggest rivals in the only competition they can realistically win, then that's on him.
No-one at Rovers denies what he's achieved, but time and tide wait for no man

RealJohn91

The difference Devoy and Tierney make in midfield is something else. We still badly need a proper striker. Piszczek was absolutely poison and was rightly hooked at halftime. We badly needed that. We have a huge game against Dundalk next week now, and hopefully this will give us some momentum.*

Nesta99

If it is likely that rival clubs and fans would be quite fine with Higgins and Bradley staying the way their sides are playing (though Derry are on a run performances have been off) and have done for an age then the question is worth asking why! Bradley was shown plenty of loyalty in the 1st 3 years as a young manager, he was shown loyalty when he publically had a pop at his club and he hasnt really repaid that recent backing albeit you could argue 1 tie in Europe may have well covered the financial committment. Yeha its ridiculous to keep sacking managers as has been a trend at some clubs and definitely some crazy decisions in the EPL but there is a balance and sometimes sentiment has to e taken out of managerial decisions and I think most Rovers fans would want a changing of the guard.
