Very comfortable for Pats. Even had the luxury of resting Benson and Forrestor, took off Lee Desmond and gave a few of the teenagers a run, including a start for Ben McCormack who played well and scored a lovely goal. Just about as good as it gets really. I’m dreaming of the Aviva .............(for now anyway)
Derry beat Drogheda on Penos, see you at the Aviva( repeat of 2012 not 2014)

I’d say something if it was a one off ‘mistake’ but he later sent the manager off for harmlessly celebrating a last minute equaliser. Not to mention the fact the player has to serve a ban because a referee was incompetent and quite clearly got it wrong.
But the referee wasn't incompetent. Kicking the ball away after the whistle has gone is a yellow card. It's a really petty yellow, but it's a yellow. It's the linesman who gave the wrong decision.
People get their knickers in far too much of a twist when officials make a mistake to be honest.

Harps in true Harps style made as hard of work as possible of Fairview, scored 3 in extra time when it never should have got there,Ger Doherty will never have an easier game I'd say,but we are completely shot of confidence in front of goal ........

Derry won't be getting anywhere near the Aviva if they can't score against only 9 men after 30mins of dominating play against them.

Dean Clarke and Gary McCabe on the scoresheet for Kilnamanagh yesterday as they beat St Kevin's Boys 4-1. Conor Kenna and Seán Harding also played (Kevin's, slightly confusingly, also had a Conor McKenna)
Davy O'Sullivan taking on his former club Longford shortly. Any other prominent ex-LoI players involved over the weekend?

Drogs assistant manager none to pleased with the ref(Paul McLoughlin) in today's tie v Derry.
Didn't see the match my-self so maybe someone who did can let us know if his comments are justified? (Having seen McLoughlin in action a few times already this season i kinda already know the answer!)

Nugent is a class act, u are lucky to have him.
I can see him as a first team regular for rovers next season.
He needs game time and will thrive imo

2012 was probably a better contest in fairness, certainly had more drama, as did the epic 2006 decider. not that that means anything when you lose. We were a much better team in 2014.
I’ve probably had enough of Derry in finals tbh. Three times in eight seasons is probably enough, not that I’d turn it down if it was offered now.

A once great Shels team couldn't beat a 9 man Derry side in a league cup final.

He's been very good from what I've seen of him. Williams has been sharp too, hopefully now he can nick a few more in the league. Two decent additions, surprisingly generous of ye.

That was the final though (wasn't it at the Brandywell too ?), so was the last stage. And wasn't that the season they pipped Derry to the league on just goal difference ? So it's not like there was much between you.
You'll face a lot tougher opponents than Drogheda going forwards if you're going to win the 2021 FAI Cup.

Treaty 0-0 Dundalk at half-time.
Unsurprisingly, Dundalk with more of the ball, but not doing too much with it. Their Korean player forced a good near post save from the Treaty keeper, and Treaty also brought a good save out of Abibbi with a shot from the edge of the the area.

Yeah, was the final, just making the point that it’s not that easy to beat 9 men who can defend as a unit and used a talented Shels side as an example. We played better against 11 men and I’m seeing us controlling parts of games now with possession which was alien to us under Devine. No cutting edge there at all though.
Drogs have been above us in the table all year. We should be underdogs for all games in the cup if facing tougher opponents. The cup of recent years shows that the best teams get to the final, therefore on that basis , I do agree Derry will struggle.

This performance is more like early season from Dundalk, very static, lacking energy, no pace to passing/play. Treaty have been very organised which is no surprise considering how they have done in their 1st year in the league and little easy given up at Markets Field. That said Dundalk's fitness etc should have been made count. We could have done without the extra 30mins but other than it give encouragement to Treaty, does the extra 30 sap energy for a Thursday game? Frustrating stuff but Im not that surprised by Treaty's resilience.

Liffey Wanderers v Cobh Ramblers in the UCD Bowl today for some reason. Anyone know why? Ground regulations have never been a concern in the Cup before

Thought we had put that tendency behind us. We did look a bit leggy. Treaty can be very pleased with their development as a new side, bit Finn Harps like - a handful about the pitch but just lacking a bit attacking and nobody enjoys playing against.

Dundalk fully deserved winners, they had so many clear cut chances and almost suffered the consequences of some poor finishing. I had forgot how annoying Dundalk are to play against constantly throwing themselves down looking for free kicks. Unfortunately it's the way of the modern game and I don't blame them as the were getting rewarded for falling over. I had to laugh when McMillen I think got touched on the edge of the box and let out a massive loud scream got his free and hes all better. I never heard a man scream that loud in my whole life 😆

Sligo are consistently inconsistent it would seem. Other results went as expected with dundalk struggling to put away a 1st division side and boez being flat track bullies.
Hopefully the draw for the next round throws up a few tasty games as this round has been all a bit meh, imo.

Great defensive performance from Treaty ,Dundalk dominated as expected and were quite wastful with the numerous chances they had....also a mention for Treaty keeper Ryan brought off several fine saves.

If both Dundalk and Rovers luck of the draw (Europe and domestic) holds up anther visit the the Aviva is in order - best of 3!

Yeah, I think most Rovers fans would gladly take that. another day out at the Aviva would be nice- no-one there last year so it didn't happen as far as we're concerned! -With Sligo now gone for this year it certainly increase the chances you'd say.

We were horrific. McNulty even handed us the opener. When we got it back to 2-2 Cork had their first real spell of pressure in the whole game and then got the winner. First attacking subs we made were when they went ahead in injury time. Really, really strange choices made by Buckley again.

No its written 1 line about what you wrote. I said I never heard a man scream as loud in my life nothing about a foul I said he was touched, jez you've been watching Dundalk far too much if you automatically think if a Dundalk player being touched means a a foul and free kick. You've proven my point sir 🤣🤣
200 I think, I'm not one of them.
I would have thought Markets Field had over 5000 capacity but I guess not if they are still at 200. I am pretty sure there were more than 5000 there the first time I was there anyway!
