Bit early yet to be talking about winning it, but in one off matchs Ballyheane have a decent record and you would expect them to progress through the next couple of rounds.

well how you think the top of the table clash will go between yourself (ballyheane) and ballina town will go?

Quality website joe_denilson. Far better than the one on soccerbot. Great result for the boro, celtic a for religation and they're b team to come up. Crazy shinanagans altogether. :D

If games between these 2 sides are anything to go by, you can fully expect a draw. Both teams are very inconsistent Ballina beat celtic and lose to Errris
Ballyheane 1 point out of six after winning first 3 games.

And Ballyheane's first 3 games were against Glenhest, Swinford and Snugboro, what some people might call the favourites for relegation.

anyone have any opinion on the lower diisions claremorris lookin good this year after thumpin urlaur have a striker ther glyn who really should b at a better club also snugboro b lokk the business along with ballyvary b in div 2a and moyvilla should come up from 2b
swinfordfc
10/05/2005, 10:12 AM
Joe joe,
Claremorris are very strong this year and will be there abouts at the end of the season.
In 2a, ballyvary are doing ok as are snugboro but you watch out for lacken utd, they win this division in the end.
In 2b, it the tightest division of all with any side at the minute coming through, however i think partry athletic will win it and moyvilla finishing second.
i feel sorry for westport this morning, if they got fanad to replay, they could be playing the hoops in round 2 of cup!!!!!!!

i dont think westport are by far the best team in mayo and dont rule out the"smaller" teams like manulla and straide and foxford causin and few shocks and b battlin for silverware come the end of the season and in reply to joe denilsons predictions how can u possibly believe that crossmolina and urlaur are goin to get promoted to the super and that manulla b r goin to get relegated from div 1? my predictions are
super league champions:westport
relegated:swinford and glenhest
premier division promoted conn rangers and ballinrobe
relegated;crossmolina and ballyvary
division one promoted:westport b and bangor hibs
relegated urlaur an kilmore
division 2a promoted snugboro b and ballyvaryb
They were pretty good predictions Joe Joe. 9 out of 13 currently in the positions you predicted and the others not far off.
Hopefully Snugboro can push on from here, but I think that next weeks game away to swinford will be more important than the celtic victory. It's nice to get a win under the belt but at the moment, the club are just focusing on consilidating our position in the Super League.
The next round of the AIB cup is on 22 May 2.30 kick off.

ya the predictions arent goin to bad but theres a long way too go yet think i may have understimated crossmolina cud be too good to go down mulranny dont seem to b able to cut the pace this year after their great one last year if i was to make any changes that would be it-mulranny to go down

I think that Ballinrobe will be doing very well to get promoted this season from Division One Jo Jo. It's a tough division, with 6-7 teams capable of taking points from each other. Keep your eye on Fahy Rovers who may improve upon a bad start to the season and be up there in the reckoning at the business end. He said with some bias. At the wrong end, I think Crossmolina will be well safe from danger and it's more likely to involve Mulranny and Ballyvary, who cant seem to kick start their perspective seasons.

As i have already said the port have appealed to Connaught, and that might take a few weeks but one would be surprised if they won that one. However they must be laughing at the Super league at the moment with them all falling down in one way or the other, particularly so their arch rivals Celtic who might have too much to make up now. Who will come out of the pack to challenge them is the question now ? Ballina/Ballyheane/Manulla/Erris what do people think ? By the way Joe I firmly believe that the port are miles ahead of any other teams in Mayo and have been for the last number of years even ( dare I say it !!) when they did not win it they still played the best .

J.Collins broke his nose in 3 places(from 1 punch), he will have surgery when the swelling is down. Definately out of the Swinford-Snugboro game.
Does anyone want to start a competition?
Every week you predict a score for every game in the mayo league. If you get the right result(W-D-L) you get 1 point. If you get it wrong you lose 1 point and if you get the correct score e.g Snugboro 2-0 Celtic, you get 3 points. Also if you predict a 1-0 and the score is actually 2-1 you get 1 point for the win and another for the goal difference. You can also place a banker to double the score of one particular match and place insurance on a result you are not sure of.

So dykes has sign 2 former sligo rovers players for the erris game and they is suppose to be a mayo based player to be signed shortly, he must not like what is there already? i wonder how is that going down with the existing players in the team!! still think he produce the goods there but it won't be this season in the league, maybe a cup competition......

The Don
12/05/2005, 3:55 PM
Not J.Maloney as Ballyheane definetly dont pay players. As for Peter Bourke I would say he would rather retire!
I see everyone thinks it is an existing player, why so ? Neary or Burke to Celtic - Well they better start paying and the money them lads would want to leave their clubs celtic could not afford. Funny notion though.
This new man has a big task on board if the Two Sligo + One Mayo + One unretired equals 4 = a lot of unhappy campers on Celtic. But to be brutually honest they had only a handfull of quality players before and a lot of hatchetmen who hoof the ball into the swimming pool and get applauded for it if there was a salmon river in castlebar and jack lived here instead of Ballina I might understand then their long ball tactics but now i think a major change may be in the offing !!! a lot of money to pay for what is so bleeding obvious !!!

Ballina Town 1-1 Ballyheane
Castlebar Celtic 2-1 Erris United
Manulla 3-1 Straide & Foxford United
Swinford 0-2 Snugboro United
Westport United 3-0 Glenhest
As joe joe said, just the super league. one point for correct result, one point for correct score, so a maximum of 10 points every week.

Fair play to Joe Joe for the Westport prediction anyway! A fairly impressive piece of propheticism! Well done to Snugboro too, they are getting the points chalked up! Good win for our boys in Crossmolina, goes to show the Premier is up for grabs, with Celtic B incapable of going up!! So, who is ahead in the prediction stakes after the first round?
swinfordfc

Fahyforever,
well done yestarday and yes it is very tight in this division as celtic b can't be promoted and it would be good to see yourself and ballyglass coming up. The superleague is hotting up too but westport still the team to beat although ballyheane (11), ballina (11), manulla (10), and erris (10) will have something to say about that. And well done to snugboro, the best team in the capital of mayo!!! :D
it was a good game in swinford but the ref lost his head along the way!!!!!! two men sent off and there wasn't a bad tackle in the game, even johann could see over the colours of the rainbow in his face :) he one strong lad, came on even with the state of his nose.
westport b and claremorris the teams to beat in division 1, the two b's in the premier division next year, now that would be fun :p
Lacken still the team in 2A i think.
swinfordfc
A great W/E for the port, others stumbling, Good win for the Boro should be safe now, Manulla robbed S&F by all accounts, the Ref got a good earfull from the opposition afterwards - second week in a row that the teams playing Manulla feel unjustifiably treated after the game. I wonder Why ? !!!!! . Is there a sinister plot being unfolded. What is everybody else's opinion on this sore topic, or are these clubs being paranoid

i thought the ref was poor in this game, it was a good clean game yet 2 players, one from each side was sent off and there was not one bad tackle in the game
Do you know the ref 's name?. Jimmy Blake did the Man V S&F match I thought he was fair enough in a 'jimmyblake' sort of way. I think he has improved considerably although still likes the spotlight too much !!

Jimmy Blake refereed the Manulla game quiet well. He made a bad decision for the peno but he turned down a more obvious one in the first half. Manulla were by far the better team and i wouldnt say they roobed S&F. S&F were lucky to be level at half time. Celtic seem to be struggling although this result might get them started. Westport look strong. Ballyheane and Ballina going well. Well done to Snugboro they should stay up. :p
I am glad to see that the impartial reporter at the match last Sat. agrees that S&F were unlucky. Check West. Pep. for confirmation of same.
Any News re Carew - the Port anyone.

Can anyone see any upsets in the cup this weekend?
This forum needs a little more activity.
Maybe our Snugboro rep could post info regarding same on the Connaught Tele. or indeed the Don our man in the Heane. Some people would like to give their tupence worth, anybody from Celtic out there or even Manulla - (perhaps to embarressed by recent events.) surely there is some 'head' in B/Glass or Ballina and why not Erris United - The only Mayo team with a national title (but not Mayo club of the Year by the way !!). It needs advertising now maybe a journo might highlight these views. Here's hoping :(
