So MAFL - 1 again I think the chair will not be happy until he is the only one left. El Duce indeed !!! Mussolini to the rest of ye

Are ye serious lads? It'll be soon like Henry VIII's England, screw everybody, its my league!
They're falling quicker than Donkeys at Aintree.
Where is this all going to stop? Surely the FAI have rules that say a league must be administered by more than one man (git, in this case)?
You can say what you like about the GAA and IRFU but nowhere, absolutely nowhere could this sort of GUBU stuff occur than in the great old FAI and the MAFL is the cherry on the cake.
Makes it all a bit of a joke.

The name of Michael Fox apparently seems to have been rumbling like thunder in this latest episode. Can anyone apply some forked lightning to the issue? The AGM is almost certainly to be the most bloodiest since the French Revolution if that is the case. There is a saying that reads "United we stand, divided we fall".

The control of the League shall be vested in the LMC which shall be elected at the League Annual General Meeting each year. The committee shall comprise of thirteen members, one of whom shall be a represenattive of the Youths and Schoolboys League, which shall include the following: Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, League Registrar, Fixtures Secretary, PRO and others.
At the moment, there seems to be about five committee members on the committee following all the resignations. If that is the case, the Mayo League are technically in breach of Rule 12.

Lads surely a well done must go out to the men from Partry who secured the division 2B title at the weekend with two games to spare. I think they will prosper in division 1.
Commisserations to Glenhest and heres hoping they recover and don't hit the dreaded freefall scenario.
Are there any clubs outside the top flight that would have the resources and ability to not just survive but actually prosper in the super league or is the gap getting bigger each season? I think that Ballinrobe and Claremorris and maybe Crossmolina could do well with the right backing and some fresh talent due to their size but the day of the rural club prospering amongst the big boys is a fading memory (Urlaur and Ballyglass and Achill jump to mind).
Surely there must now be grounds for calling an EGM if the level of resignations is as said because if this is the case then the committee would not be able to effectively run the league and would be running outside it's own rules as Thunderblaster so eloquently states.
 What is there not to understand.?
El duce = Mussolini the once dictator of Italy - Who does he remind you of in this scenario ?.
GUBU = Haugheys tactics for silencing his opponents
Pants down = Okaying an illegal player to play having no clearance
Person responsible = Registrar spells it out in black and white
Plonker = sacks the Registrar.

EGM! At the moment the clubs can hardly get a delegates meeting from the league, rules are being ignored or wrongly enforced left right and centre. Imagine we all thought the league was here for the good of its clubs, god we all feel a bit foolish now. Word on the street is that the old T.Rex himself went after M.Fox for confirming the rules implemented by the league for the u-21 leauge were pure ********. So it did not concern T.Rex that the league had been wrong but rather had been found out to be wrong. Take a look at the clubs which have been at the brunt of league disciplinary measures this season and can you see a pattern emerging ( most vocal clubs- biggest suspensions).

Snugboro United 2-3 Westport United
Westport probably deserved it on second half, hitting metalwork three times, whereas Snugboro only had two half chances.
Westport scored deep into injury time.
Doesn't make it feel any less bitter for the Boro boys.
Westport march on to league title, sorry to Ballyheane boys we couldn't help ye out, would of been nice to see ye win it.

EGM! At the moment the clubs can hardly get a delegates meeting from the league, rules are being ignored or wrongly enforced left right and centre.
Rule 13: The LMC shall arrange to hold at least three club delegates meetings per season, to which each club must send two delegates who shall be members of the executive committee of the club as defined in rule 44 (2)(a).
What is the point in having a rule book? This is ripe for a political revolution. Maybe all the big clubs in Mayo should break away, talk to the other big guns in the province and reform the Connacht Senior League. One of the motives of the Super League was to crush Mayo's involvement in the Connacht Senior League. The League's biggest assets are the players that plays in the league.

Who do you think the Genisis report was designed for ?
He was president of the FAI when it was allegedly a very poorly run organisation, does this seem like history repeating itself. Four major resignations would seem to imply that all is not rosey in the Mayo league garden.
Word reaches me that our much respected Chairman was not at the Port on Sunday to present the cup . I wonder Why ? Would it have anything to do with the fact that he was roundly abused by the Port faithfull at a FAI Junior Game last Year and again at a Super League match against Snugboro !!.
Check all the past winners and it is always, and I stress ALWAYS the Chair who presents the cup. Now don't come back to me and say it is Tom Kelly who acquired the cup - as indeed he did, but it is always the honour of the Chair to present the biggest prize in Mayo soccer.
Therefore I would hazard a wild guess that this esteemed Chairman did not want the presentations to be overshadowed by abuse (Surely opinions) raining down on him from the Port Fans and making him look very foolish indeed - again.

Thanks lads for your words of congratulations. I've been off for a few days celebrating and the like. Back to back titles is a fair achievement and I would not bet against us for next year either.
On the subject of the Dictator (or whatever we are calling him these days), he must know by now that we would rather lose to Celtic for the next twenty years than have him at the Sports Park, he's a fool in most ways but he must be smart kiddy to not show up. Funny though that he usually presents the cup to anyone who wins it, that is, of course, unless its the port.
League season coming to an end lads. What would be your top three favourite moments of the league season thusfar? (bloodshed in Milebush aside)!
ANother touchy one about Ciaran Kelly. I'm backing the Boro on this one, the spirit of the game is quite visible with their side. Why should they lie down and let the Celtic bullies get their own way (or Il Duce's way)? The spirit of the game is good in this county. It is only questioned when teams forget the rules. We goy points taken for late registration so I don't see what the Boro are doing wrong in contesting the transfer of Kelly, if what is printed in the papers is true, then Celtic and Quigley don't have a leg to stand on.

So Westport have won the Super League(deservedly, although they didn't play out of 3rd gear all season. They're just much better than the rest of us) and the Boro and Celtic have a Westaro Final to look forward to. But the AIB Cup Final has kicked up some fuss. And maybe it's fuss that needs to be kicked up. I live closer to Celtic Park than nearly every Celtic player and just slightly closer than Quigley himself. I don't have my ear as close to the ground as some of the members of this board but I thought the Mayo News had a brilliant exposé and I'll take their word for it that the league is a bit corrupt. And it even mentioned foot.ie.
I'm going to congratulate Celtic B, Lacken and Partry on winning their leagues, all three deserve it.
On Snugboro's appeal, I don't care if we win or lose. I hate when football resorts to a decision in a meeting(although I was all for Westport in June).
I'm glad to see the Swinford-Snugboro 35min scenario was overturned. Saves some anxious moments.
I suppose the big disappointment of the season has been the Mayo U-21 side. How do we fix this problem?

Congrats to Westport from Fahy Rovers. It really is a great achievement to win it consecutively in the same year as winning the F.A.I Junior cup. I agree with Joe though; they never left third gear. The scary thing is that they never had to. Next year will be interesting... will Castlebar challenge them? Surely the last half of the season and the new players/regime etc suggests they are the primarily pretenders to the throne? Are United capable of stepping it up a notch if neccesary? I think they are. They're strong throughout, with exceptional defenders in Joe Lawless and, particularly, Martin Geraghty, who is surely the Mayo League's player of the season. Signing David Horkan was a great piece of business too, he's the closest thing to Ashley Cole you will see in this neck of the woods. Skillful, fast and versatile, he is the trickiest player I have ever had the considerable misfortune of marking. Considering their strength in depth, with Super League quality players knocking it about for their second team, I feel they are good for another year minimum.
Either way, Fahy will be heading to the Sports Park next season. We still have a chance of going up but it's out of our hands at this stage. We have to beat both Mulranny and Ballyvary, whilst hoping Crossmolina lose to either Killala or Ballyglass. Or both. If we stay down we have the pleasure of Westport's B team, whilst going up would present us with the opportunity to establish a bit of friendly local frisson. Personally, I think Crossmolina will struggle to win both of their games, but it remains to be seen if we can get the six points after losing our last three on the trot. I fancy Ballinrobe to beat them in the Divisional cup final.

It brings the split within the league out into the public domain. I got hold of the paper and Quigley seemed to be less than diplomatic with his answers. With one ex-member, he retorted that the member hardly turned up for meetings and when he did, he had little constructive to offer. The big question is, who will be the next victim of this internal purge?

Well another Year over what are the highlights ( if any )
Westport - Great team I hope they now build. (and I mean physically here)
Swinford - Thought they were all right perhaps need a bit of belief
Glenhest - Congrats on staying up so long now dont do a BBB on it and go straight down again.
Celtic - Seem to have got the act together perhaps some football on the deck next.
The Boro - Well done need to replace the elder lemons and welcome to the corruption that is the MAFL
The Heane - Same old Same old at least they left their usual collapse until later this Year eh Don
Manulla - Finally ye got the lotto lolly what ye need it for is a different story It would be interesting to see how many of the B team are actual A players
Erris - Still the 2nd best in league form and good football played
S & F - Creak in neck watching ye the Aib cup final if ever played should be dour beyond belief
Ballina - Promise so much deliver so little Still ye play good football
MAFL - Let Celtic B up. I would venture that they would not abuse the rules a la manulla & Westport 'In the Spirit of the game' if I could be so bold as to steal this phrase from our velified Chairman. By the way congrats on presenting the cup to your 'own club' Celtic and then Partry after. Pity you could not present the BIG ONE to the port. We have decided to form a new club for entry into next years competition. Any advice on stuff that we should now do to be properly prepared for kick off.
Training? how much? how often? When to start?
Finances? How much will it cost to run the club. One Junior team initially.
Friendlies? With who? insurance needed? Refs?
Colours? Any suggestions?
Discipline? Internal code needed or will league rules do?
Glory hunters? How do you deal with players who do not pass the ball?
Any comments will be appreciated.
