Thanks for the wishes and sound words of advice and may I also wish everyone a happy christmas and an extremely successful 2006.

Not going dwelling on the u21 situation, but the clubs appears to made at fault for the whole thing or maybe i am misinterpreting words and print. As far as i am can see each and every club in mayo has personnel and players devoted to their clubs and the mayo league in general and want to see the very best for players even if they go further in the sport outside their club.it is not the clubs that let down the u21's, no-one wants to see teams fold up particularly at county level, but the whole structure from the fai / eircom league down to the clubs has to be looked at involving the mayo league committee. the mafl should make every effort to meet with each mayo club, outline aims, proposals, suggestions, etc, not alone for u21's but for the benefit of each club and league for the season. delegates or any other sort of combined meeting, especially when it seems some clubs do be cut-off from comment abruptly at times, is not going to sort out anything in the long term, time has to be spent with every club, everyone dedicated club member and player deserves that opportunity. everyone in this forum obviously is dedicated to soccer in mayo, this is clearly apparent, in attendance of some at games, meetings, etc and deserves a huge recognition for the contribution made. thought provoking ideas and comments combined with lively debates in the proper hands would see a huge change in operations in 2006.

Just food for thought League of Ireland sides won't be clashing against there U-21 'S ARE playing they would change the fixture
once again Merry Christmas to all yee thread bearers

The festivities are coming to end the turkey bones given to the cats so all is left are to go back to football.
Well if you were following my threads you would have seen that I was hinting there was trouble in the horizon for Celtic Players not just Mr Kelly there are others.

Let me spell it out for you Mr Kennedy made it quite clear to Celtic in writing this player is not cleared to play in junior competition Rule 42 of the F.A.I. is not been adhered to. Remember he has been guided by the same body in his decision making.
Despite the noses coming from Celtic, they have taken there guidance from the Mayo League, “I ask who is the provincial body is it Connaught or Mayo League” whilst The F.AI. Noted M.L. decision they never rule on it, because the Celtic appeal wasn’t base on the eligibility of Kelly.
I still feel that the Sheriff Appeal will fail because there protest wasn’t related to his status as in rule 4 or a professional player playing in junior competition as in rule 42
Their protest is base on his registration. The player was registered by M.L. but what rules did he adhere to?
Only El Duce can answer that one.

I think my namesake has been jettisoned by the mafia in Manulla. In fairness he did say that last Year was his last Year, so I suppose he gave them the chance. Still the rumours persist that they did it in an underhand way. The Mossy camp will claim a certain son of THE POWER in Manulla (who is now near Junior Ranks) wanted to see him ousted, because Mossy was not to be trusted to give this lad a chance so he had to be removed. I hope that Mr. Lally now walks away completely (including schoolboys) and let's them at it maybe join a different club - The Bombers anyone. If you have no respect in your club go to one that will respect you.
Any news on the replacements ? I hear a Triumpharant were installed, just like the GAA with their mentors.
With Celtic & Ballina gone proffesional, the Port Semi - Pro, the Heane on the verge of same, will Manullla go external and confirm that their is life outside of Balla !!!!

Mayo League lost to Galway League 2-0 in Oscar Trayer match so Mayo season is over.

Mayo had a good first half and hit the crossbar twice. Galway took the lead against the run of play. Once Galway got the second, the heads began to drop. The Donegal game was Mayo's undoing.

And where are the clubs getting the money to pay the players from? It is a dangerous game that could see clubs being punished for breaching the amateur ethos. A proper youth structure with academy is a better way forward than instant success

Also will there be a good crowd ? Locals and soccer people of the county. I see McAtee is Refing, Could not ask for better I would have thought.

Injuries in Westport?

Hard luck to Mayo in the Oscar Traynor.

Yes Don is is back and it's all thanks to Donal Benson. He stood up and outlined his approach to the project which had a far more common sense theme, than the convuluted dictate proposed by the league. Now at least the power is back with the clubs although expect a very different interpretation to be put on it by the LMC. At the end of the day I suppose it is worth another try but the basic truth is that if the clubs are not interested then it is a dead duck !!!.
I'm afraid all the indications so far are that the clubs do not care, In fact I would like to know who does actually care - outside of paid FAI employees that is, who have a vested interest in promoting their own goals.

I'm back as well. Things were getting a bit hairy there for a while, too many trips to the chippy over the festive period brought a halt to my gallop back to the forum.

Did I hear someone say that we're gone semi-pro? You're having a laugh mate. We have a decent set of coaches and managers who try to do a little bit extra off the field so we gain an extra yard on it. Hardly the same as being paid for the job and getting a car or whatever Dykesy is on.

On the injury front I think we'll be ok, there's maybe a few niggly ones but every team has that.

Best of Luck to our friends in the 'Heane this Sunday, should be a cracking game.

I'm off to plan how to slip into Celtic Park for the Carew game next weekend (if it's on). What a belter of a tie that will be!

O dear, negativity and inaccuracy is not at all attractive!
Done a little research here, but must ask first, won nothing for whom?
Scored no goals for whom?
Jump ship from where?
And I think you have started a good little debate. Lets list the achivments of managers/coaches of Mayo junior teams.
Its always good to start at the top;
Westport (P.Burns, K.Cusack) F.A.I. Junior Cup, Super League.
Celtic (G.Dykes)
B'Heane
And so on, and lets have a little comparison, and remember, not club achivments, but manager achivments. Include divisional titles & divisional cups,(coaching qualifications), and then, as we have so much insider info, who gets paid and who's managing for fun & football.
Of course we cant accept loose, unbacked statments like the one above, but it should be an interesting discussion!
