Not too impressed with this '4-3-1-2' set-up. It failed against Scotland at home and looked a bit slapdash against Gibraltar. The three central midfielders seem to be getting in each others' way, and we're overly reliant on the full-backs for width. We would be much better off with two out-and-out wide players, and Hoolahan behind Long.

I dunno. I felt before this switch that we have been too reliant on orthodox width for years, at the expense of a more solid central midfield. Either way though we need a strong figure to start taking hold of midfield. I don't think I could tolerate another "reasonably ok" performance from McCarthy.
I'll buy any win but a convincing win would be brilliant, possibly a turning point for MON's tenure. Ciaran O Rahallaigh tweeted an interview with Kenny Cunningham who says Ireland's players are better than their performances under MON. I think he's right. Also on Twitter Kilbane is very positive about tonight.

I don't think I could tolerate another "reasonably ok" performance from McCarthy. More and more, Trapattoni's 'Mentalit-ee' opinion rings truer and truer.
Or 'personalit-ee' as the boys in the studio are on about.

Ireland are almost the exact same price to beat Georgia as Germany are to beat Scotland. We are both heavy favourites to win today, which I don't understand. I think the Germans will hammer Scotland but I think we'll struggle mightily to win - and we need a win. A draw does nothing for us, we'd have to take four points from the last two matches. Today is all or nothing. I fear we might end up losing.

A win by the odd goal.
That'll do it.
And Germany to hammer Scotland and demoralise them to the hilt.

Crikey, what's the attendance. Is ground even half full?

How many of the lads on yellows will pick one up tonight? I'd prefer if all 4 did.

2 great chances for Georgia so far, brilliant Clark block and some bambiness from their striker saved us. Brady hasnt settled defensively.

18 minutes in, we run out of ideas, back to Shay, he walks 35 yards and pumps it long and out of play. No wonder nobody wants to go watch us play.

Coleman clearly not fit and Brady looks like he's playing with a hangover.

Bad pass back from O'Shea to Given there. Don't they teach them to steer passes back to the keeper wide of the goal just in case? Asking for trouble.

It's not all doom and gloom and when we pressure them high up, they've panicked. Not that Shay was ever Manuel Neuer, his kickouts are about par for him at the minute, but ball at his feet, he's really starting to look old. Same with O'Shea.
We have Shane Long to come on against tired Georgians and his record off the bench is brilliant. Whelan looks the fittest he ever has and is snapping into tackles and winning headers. Coleman had a great effort but it was a half chance. Robbie half chance also. I'd say Martin will probably say it's going to plan.

Not much positives in the first half. We'll have to make a corner or something count at this rate. Scotland scoring from 2 set pieces, fvck me.
Scotland cares. We don't.

If the Scots can keep the 2-2 draw going against Germany, we'll have no choice but to throw men forward - two draws today effectively sees us missing out on qualification.

Aye, Whelan has been a stand-out performer. Tenacious.

I have never seen an Ireland team still in a position to qualify look so unmotivated. I have no regrets about ousting Trap, but this is not a sufficient improvement, at home to Georgia.
The negativity is just infecting everything, from the crowd to the commentators.

45 minutes for O'Neill to save his job. Soul Destroying stuff as the 147th team in the world are comfortable at peresent, yet an average side like Scotland are holding Germany 2-2.
Draw - sack him
Loss - sack him
Get your money on 0-0 at 7/2

Neuer tonight has had a howler.
Germany could yet score another couple. Thank god they still need the points.
We have been abject. No bite. No intensity.
Walters was doing well early on.
The players need to grab this because MON isn't going to do it.

Shane Long on for Robbie.
Correct decision.

Good move - I love Robbie but this Georgian defense looks tough, right up Shane Long's alley. He should have been on from the start.

Ireland not as bad on Sky as RTE, Long adds height as we don't have the quality of passers to set Robbie and Jon loose. Georgians will fall apart from 60-80, concede then make life tough for our 1-0 win.
