50 (http://foot.ie/showthread.php?t=18737) at Monaghan v. Sligo, apparently.
And I think they were nearly all Rovers Supporters

I'd say 50 is underestimating it a bit. Hardly made the 100 though. Someone on our forum reckoned there was 100.

I'd guess 3,000 at Cork City v Pats.
Lower half of Donie forde stand and St Annes end empty due to rain.
Shed and Derrynane stand full.

Thats a tiny crowd for a game Kildare had to win. Just above their average for the season.
Bad sign for the club if they can only get those crowds for big games.
But if they made the Premier they have huge nos of travelling fans from Dublin/Drogheda.

I'm probably being conservative. i'd say the crowd was between 3,000 and 3,500.

That's true but they don't seem to have developed a decent sized "hardcore" support that they can rely on.
If they stay in the first division it'll be a big struggle for the club.

another smart arse post to shels......
do you lot not get bored???
Ok theres a theory!!
Because we are top of the league and are playing at home to the team that is the only one with a chance of catching us and that its only our 2nd game on a friday night in over 3 months and that it wasnt on the TV. People may have been interested????
Are your crowds the same when you about to win leagues as they are when your going for the intertoto spot place?!! :)

Idiot. It's called checking crowds for reasonableness. The highest crowd Shels have had this season (per this thread) for a non Dublin derby is 2,300 v. Drogheda. The previous game v. Cork had 1,200. It's quite possible that the Cork game was 4,000, but you'd have to be a bit sceptical given the trend. That's all - get over the persecution complex!

There is nothing strange about 4000-5000 at a 1st V 2nd 5 games from the end of the season in a game where your team could more or less win the league....
If we were playing Dublin City then fair enough,,

There may be nothing strange about it, but I wouldn't say there is nothing strange about it. The Drogs game was a top two clash as well and had only half that crowd. There'd have been more Drogs fans at that game than Cork fans tonight (for reasons of proximity), so where the extra 2,000 - Shels' average crowd - is coming from is strange. Your last home crowd is in as 4,500 v. Bohs - are you saying that Cork had as many fans as Bohs at the game despite having 200 miles more to travel? I'm not openly calling it into question, it's just a case of professional scepticism. If you can't take that, well...
What was your guesstimate at the crowd?

are you saying that Cork had as many fans as Bohs at the game despite having 200 miles more to travel?
Not very far off it I'd say. And I'd say there was more Shels fans there than at the Bohs match if anything. I'd guess the crowd was roughly the same as the Bohs game.
higgins
29/10/2004, 9:53 PM
Bohs would have you believe there was about 2500 form the 4500 at that game!!...
they had over a 1000 maybe 1500 max..
Didnt see tonight game but was told that Cork had a good crowd and it was probably just under the 1000 mark in riverside (cork + neutrals maybe??)
Then your only talking about a 500 difference in the shels figure which because it was closer to the end of the league i can understand. Also Bohs were the only fans who really thought that game was a title decider!! This one although more important to you was also important to us...
I really cant see why 4000-5000 is a shock
1000 City fans in tolka last night, 4000 is a fair enough estimate for the overall attendance.

800 at Pats-Longford.
BTW, the lads in McDowells last night were adamant there was at least 1200 at Pats-Drogs last Monday where I'd said 800 or 900 (can't remember which) so Stu, you may want to revise your calculation of our average.

I would agree with you there Doctor. We played Rovers there the friday before we played yous and there was about 700/800 at that. Certainly Pats v Drogs had a bigger crowd than that. The Drogheda Independent gave it as 1,200 and they seem to get official figures.

I'd go with 700-800: the stand holds somewhere between 450 and 600 and it was nearly full with another 100-200 stood at pitchside

I wasn't coming up with a figure, just commenting on your assertion that both stands were full and St Anne's (which I am assuming is th uncovered seated area behind the goal) was nearly full. Watching on tv that was clearly not the case.

About 1500 at Longford-Shels, Longford-Cork (the most recent one) was about 600, terrible crowd, the previous home game v Cork (early in the season) was about 1200 from my recollection
