So in order to get your A licence ye have had to close most of your ground but everyone else free to keep all the ground open with no need for A licence. They had to close that anyway because it had asbestos in the roof or something. The licensing was incidental.

Macy

Yeah, it wasn't because of the licence that the terracing had to close. AFAIK, you are still allowed terracing, but just have to have a minimum number of covered seats.

Yeah, which was the existing requirements for the Premier anyway.... Of all the licencing critea, that is the one that I find most annoying that some clubs still don't have it. I think you used to have a season after promotion to get it sorted...

Exactly a reason why Harps would be in bother :D Park Benches fit for 250 people !

The pre-existing requirements said nothing about covered (Hello Bray!), terraces are allowed in the licence just no loose surfaces(in either divivsion). The Brandywell was one of the few grounds with no such surfaces anyway.

but... feel it neccessary to tell every other club how they should run that club to get that all important licence...

I said if there 80 Dewry fans, there was 2,700 at the game. There was no where near 80 Derry fans. Lets split the difference ad say 50. Happy?

Your Just paranoid......why should we give a feck about how you run your club...I dont....I do give a feck when differences are made in terms of dishing out money to financially strapped clubs.

And no i still disagree with you....I more or less counted on the night OK

The Czech Republic. Population over 10 million, one of the best international sides in Europe, and a team who qualified for the knock out stages of the champions league this season. While eircom league attendences could be much bigger, perhaps they're not that much below those of countries other than England, Italy, Spain etc...
Figures for last weekend
A1A2201 Zlín Opava 0: 0 ( 0: 0) 3058
A1A2202 Olomouc Č.Budějovice 1: 0 ( 1: 0) 5120
A1A2203 Příbram Synot 1: 0 ( 0: 0) 4181
A1A2204 Sparta Liberec 0: 0 ( 0: 0) 6824
A1A2205 Ostrava Slavia 0: 2 ( 0: 1) 17679

Know there are prob.some fat f*ckers in EL,but this takes 'Rounding-up'to a New level................& the purists want punters to take EL seriously!
Based on people who were actually at the games, as opposed to some muppet who's just taking pot shots from across the water...

Relax Davros, no el fan likes the situation but its not an eL thing its an Irish thing. GAA figures, rugby figures, no sport in Ireland produces exact figures.

Now the eL clubs have to produce them to the fai, so its only a small step away from releasing them to the public.

Eh...Dublin City's home games to come...?!

Good point.

League attendances ain't great but think we suffer by compariosn with the English leagues where its the national sport.

Still could be 20k people at games per week which could be 750,000 punters over a season.

Got a reply to that today -

Thanks for your mail.

In response to your query, the attendance figures are being collated under the terms of the club licensing scheme and there are no plans at present to publish them.

I hope this answers your query.

If you need any more information, let me know.

Regardless of my location,I've been to LOI/EL games(Macy, you should learn to read?!) & will continue to do so....if the majority of Clubs cant be bothered to count the crowd,it's hardly my fault.....

The clubs are counting the crowds, just not releasing the figures. However, were you at all the games at the weekend? If not, how do you know estimates from fans that were there are bullshít?

pete
24/03/2004, 12:35 PM
Home fans tend to exaggerate crowd but away fans don't know the capacities of the different areas of the grounds so bit o Catch 22.

Seating inheriently easier to count than terracing.

Good crowd in Drogheda last night despite the rip-off price hike. Home terrace was full, say 2000-2500, a bit under 500 of us, couldn't see the stand. Say 3000 total, or near enough.

1000 towards 1500 for Rovers v City althouygh can be hard to gauge when in the stand.

As a neutral/newcomer I thought it was a great game, especially the second half with Bohs in particular playing some quality attacking football.Capthat off with a cracking volleyed goal and a noisy competetive atmosphere and I'd say it was a definitely an enjoyable Friday night.(Could have done without the Bohs fans messing after though)

No way was there 6000 there. Stand full = 1800, Camac full on both sides of the gantry but not impossibly jointed = about the same again, say 500ish between the Shed and the turnstile end. Call it 4250 in round numbers

How are Galway doing this season at home? Have heard they've had decent attendances, but of course that's very relative...

Edit - Limerick was a home game of course... Meant the Kilkenny game too.
