well done great result, we won 4-1 but i think the scoreline was a bit harsh on sallypark either way good win for us
Well done on sunday, I appreciate your comment that the scoreline was harsh but, although things went against us on the day, I think ye were good value for the win. The first goal we conceded was a pure joke and we had conceded again before we had a chance to recover. Herlihy made a serious save at 2 nil which could have brought us back into it but ye had a peno five minutes later and never looked back.. I don't think we played too badly in general and to be fair we were probably the dominant side for 30mins of each half but we just couldn't score at one end and couldn't defend at the other!
Best of luck for the rest of the season, ye have a very good young team ( a couple of obvious characters aside ;) ) and are as strong as anyone we've played this season.

ya apart form the 2 older ryan brothers and sticky in goals everyone else is mid 20s r younger, ye did play ok but we defended well and i thnik the lads ye were missing were a big loss to ye in the attacking areas, we have thurles this sunday and a win there will have us in good position so were happy enough with the way things are going at the minute, one thing we need to work on is our fitness we faded badly towards the end of the game but thankfully thats something that can be sorted out easily enough

good win for town today, really opens up the league for everyone else how did game go ?
The game started off even but the last 25 mins of the first half i felt town dominated! Clough got a goal right before the half, even though town created a lot of chances. A great save from the clough keeper from a brian quinn effort too. Town came out strong again in the second half and dominated the game, first goal from thomas sheppard was sloppy enough that came from a corner! Second goal came from a corner routine in which michael hogan scored a bullet of a goal to put town 2-1 up! Good battle of a game but i felt town deserved the win.

We thought draw would have probably been the fairest result but hey .. Town created alot of chances .. Are you having a laugh ? Granted ye had alot of the ball .. What scoring chances did ye have ?? Ye scored 2 from a corner kick , which was our fault really .. Your boy "Liam" ( ref ) as ye were are calling him all game was a solid disgrace .. and ye probably might even agree with that yerselves .. How ashman wasnt sent off withing 10 mins of the 2nd half when he hacked down a clough player .. Instead " Liam " decided that it would be better not to give even a free ! , so as he wouldnt have to make the tough decision to send him off .. (he was on a yellow) . Premier division ref ! disgrace .

Mr man you sound very bitter there, town won the game because they scored two goals in which a referees decision had no part in them two goals.... Town i felt did have a lot of the ball and created a few more chances than ye also. The thing is with clough and always has been is ye are quick to tackle hard but never able to take a hard tackle. If u want to go on about the ref yer left back committed 4 fouls before he decided to kick the ball away which earned him a yellow card in the first half, he should of at least got booked after his third foul! The ref today isnt a favourite of town so dont try use him as yer escape goat, it was a good tough game of soccer so dont the "ref" as an excuse for the defeat!

ahh in fairness i did sound very bitter there .. :) but .. " The thing is with clough and always has been is ye are quick to tackle hard but never able to take a hard tackle " What an amazing comment ! Why is that ? please explain .. The whinging that comes out of ye when a hard tacle is thrown is ridicolous.. and thats from the sideline as well .. ya'd swear ye are too good to be tackled hard .. get over it.. Its noth tipp soccer .. Yer 2 goals ye scored , i admitted was our fault so wasnt really blaming the ref .. Read my post properly before commenting .. good man ! Oh did one of yer lads not kick the ball also and no yellow card ? Same rule should apply for every team but it doesnt !
@celticlads : I never mentioned his 2nd name !! ;)

Mr man the better team won fair and square, most of the game was played in ye're half, up the hill and down the hill. Ye're goal was against the run of play and only for your goalkeeper we would of won handy. Ref had a good game today didn't give any more to us than he did ye, he was consistent and thats all u can ask for from a ref and none of his decisions had any baring on the game, and agree celticlads refs shouldn't be named on this and as for calling him by his name, grow up and stop nip-picking most teams and players in every league every sunday do that, and u reckon jerome should of got sent off? stop will ya many frees did mouse and quinlin give away today if any one should of gone it was 1 of them 2.

he made 3 quality saves, 1 in first half and 2 in second aswell as quinny having 2 one on ones. your name was mentioned when u started slaging 1 of our players, players and managers always getting mentioned on this so get off your high horse, refs should not named, as for me not posting anything who gives a fck i dont be sitting down all day with a computer in front of me.

its not hatred, its jealousy eoin. "from what u seen today" what on that cow field ye call a football pitch, pitch was shocking wouldn't see many teams playing free flowing football on it, would u blame us for looking into playing in a different league, ( which was only an inquiry by the way) having to play on pitches like that, if that was south tipp do u know ye wouldn't be allowed in premier division with pitch that poor. Look at the pitches in south tipp premier, limerick premier all good pitches with good facilities, only 3 decent pitches in our premier.

Yep, nice pitches in brickfields, borrisokane and sallypark, sound for nod on that one :)
Grand to see a bit of activity on the forum, great entertainment! North tipp soccer is brutal anyway, from pitches to players to referees, bar a few exceptions on all counts. I wouldn't be gettin too worked up over it

Lads I'm new onto this so be patient. I've seen Nenagh Town play a few times this year and I don't believe they're as good as the last few years. Saying that though they are a very good junior side who could mix it with a lot of the best junior teams in the country. I have to disagree with Panda though, I think North Tipp football had come on in leaps nd bounds in the last few years. Other leagues look at North Tipp teams and think they would have a game on their hands. This is partly due to Nenagh towns performances in the Munster junior last year and to North Tipp teams performances in the Delaney Cup. I work in South Tipp and know a good bit about the league and there is absolutely nothing between the two leagues, even though south Tipp teams wouldn't like to admit it.

town are still the top team up here but i would agree with you their not as good as last year and a few teams have improved to close the gap, saying that the are still favs to win the league and it will take a huge effort to over haul them by any other team, we have improved in a big way this year but have a long way to go but at least were heading in the right direction, we take on clonmel town next sunday and that will give us a good guide as to where we are and how far we have to go, really looking forward to it now

Great banter this week! :D Didn't see the game so i can't comment on it but i would like to say one thing - I don't think North Tipp leagues get enough credit to be honest, the majority of rural teams are battling with hurling clubs to field teams every sunday so they never field the same team week in week out. As for the standard of football - most teams are made up of a mixture of footy and gaa players- The football is bound to be rough around the edges. The standards in player ability - no difference - i think its an insult to any of the lads togging in week in week out to say anything otherwise. Give us north tipp lads access to facilities that some of the teams have in south tipp and the city leagues and i guarantee we could hold our own..

To be fair mattman ye have a fine pitch and fair play to ye, but in general north tipp has terrible facilities. There are a lot of gaa players who don't put the same effort into the soccer season. Also I've seen too many technically very good players getting kicked off the field, and referee's have no interest in protecting them, which is a disgrace.
It's tough for nenagh town to do themselves justice in the big competitions. I remember last season we played them out in sally and it was a tough game, we ran them close but they won. The following weekend they had st michaels in the Fai i think. How could playing a dogged sallypark on a tiny muddy pitch in latteragh be good preparation for playing one of the best junior sides in the country on an expansive field? It must be quite frustrating for them.

Some clubs in North Tipp have great facilities aswell in fairness. Rearcross is a small rural village and any junior club in the country would be happy to have the facilities they have. Nenagh Towns facilities are second to none, borrisokane and I see ardcroney, clodiagh and I see ardcroney have built on an extension including showers. I think some clubs just don't make enough effort in providing facilities for players. Nothing worse than playing a match on a Sunday and having to drive home covered in ****e cos you couldn't have even a cold shower. It looks like borroway are in big trouble in the premier, who do ye think will join them? Who's going to win the first division? Looks like its going to be between Nenagh B and Rearcross in my opinion.

I completely agree Panda, the facilities in general are of a poor standard - up until last year we had a pitch at a 60 degree angle covered in cow ****e! I had my say on refereeing already this season so i'll say no more on that subject :D Theres no point in saying theres not a gap between playing in the North Tipp league and playing in the FAI junior Cup, there is...a huge difference but isin't that the joy of playing in it? I dont know towns set up but i bet they dont have to go ringing lads on a sunday morning and knocking on doors to get lads out of bed - they have a bunch of lads that actually want to play soccer- it shows on the pitch too. Same can be said for the thurles and celtics of the league id say...I think the teams in the premier are doin a half descent job though, town havent done bad over the years so we must be providing some sort of competition...saying that we lost 7-1 so its not us specifically!

i agree it is annoying having no showers after a game but its not that easy to secure a piece of land and proper facilities, we would give anything to have our own facilities and are trying hard to do so but without much success, theres the small matter of finance to take into account some clubs are just about staying afloat at the moment but we do have a plan in place and hopefully in the near future we will achive our goal
i think borrisokane and lough derg will fight out relegation along with borroway and ya either town b or rearcross will win division 1

i think alot of the improvement we should see over the next 5/10 years is down the work being done at underage level, James Scott has done great work on that level and if these young lads can be brought through we will have a much strong hand to play in national competitions, if some other clubs can get proper facilities like Town, Rearcross, Borris and others we will be a strong league in the future, i do think south tipp and the likes a still a bit ahead of us but we have closed the gap a bit

Town players can tackle hard, sure it was hard listening to most of the clough team crying about them! like i said the game was a hard tough game with hard tackles from both sides. ye can come to brickfields and tackle as hard as ye like because thats all ye are good for, thats what seperates teams who win trophys from some teams that dont! If some of ye concentrated on playing football rather than always giving out and blaming refs that would help too.

Schoolboy football has improved an awful lot in Nth Tipp past five years or so, will be interesting when these players start feeding into junior football. Worryingly though for teams other than Nenagh AFC, Brickfields schoolboys are well ahead of the competition. Pity that Celtic's schoolboy teams have dipped so much, admittedly a lot of this is down to the facilities on offer to kids and their parents in Brickfields, as over the years when Celtic produced a good one they tended to be special.

yes your dead right about our schoolboys and brickfields is a huge draw for both parents and children alike, but although we dont have the good teams we use to have we do have a few talented youngsters in most age groups trying to hold onto them is our problem, in fairness brickfields is a top class facility and i wouldnt begrudge any child who would rather play down there instead of the tech

Not giving myself or club big head but for a division 3 club i think we have top notch facilities in Shannon Rangers and plus hot water for every team that comes out to us for shower after the game.

Holycross have a nice set up and have a good underage structure so the future is bright if they can hold on to them youngsters, ya its strange in thurles i think peake villa are the only club with underage teams but maybe they are all tied up in other sports

Facilities are the only way to go but unfortunately, and I speak for a number of clubs here, there's often barely enough funds to run the club never mind buy a field or build a clubhouse! North tipp land is some of the best farming land in Ireland and there aren't too many farmers with much of a grá for soccer, so any purchase of land is paid for through the nose.
Granted nenagh town have fantastic facilities but they are a club in operation over fifty years, so, founded in 2001, we're not doing too bad at all and we have lots of time to catch up :)

very true, alot of clubs only have the committee and a handful of people helping out, it can be difficult to just run a club never mind raising fund to buy land and the rest, we would all love to have a good facility but like panda said it is very difficult to purchase land at a good price around here and even if you can meeting repayments is not easy, but i will say in recent times a few clubs have upgraded or bought land and other clubs like ourselves are trying hard to do the same

During the good times, 5 or 6 years ago, there were generous Sports Capital Grants available from the Department of Arts, Sports & Tourism. Did clubs in North Tipperary have any luck with these grants? My club, Clonmel Celtic, got up to €500k to develop Dressing Rooms and All Weather. Did ye miss out up there? I blame dat Michael Lowry. He probably made sure all the Lottery grants went to GAA clubs. The sooner ye get rid of dat waster the better.

I think its poor form from some town posters on here to look down there noses at other clubs for not having pitches and facilities that are up to scratch. They have a huge catchment area and population and dont realise how hard other clubs are trying just to keep the show on the road.
When town play in their only big games of the season against non ntdl teams how many players do they field who came from the so called "unworthy teams".
Maybe some one can answer this. On towns starting 11 how many played for another club before town?
A bit of respect for the other teams in the league you play in. They provide you with half if not more of your team.

Definitly agree that the underage structure in north tipp is providing some great young players, hopefully when it boils down to it they dont choose GAA over soccer - thats what happened alot of lads i played with - now they are playing no sport! A waste of talent..As for facilities, i think every club does as much as they can - standards will improve with time and credit must be given to the core group of lads that have worked wonders with our set-up - they seem to be constantly on the go..Big game this weekend against clough, will be a tough game - Really need a point from this at least coz we're chasing the two teams above us and clough will be looking to bounce back from last week.
