will you now consider clough and sallypark as challengers to town, i certainly would.
It certainly does look like Clough or Sallypark are in the best positions to put some pressure on town now.
I see their playing each other next weekend, it will be interesting to see how things sit after that.
out of interest how many points did town drop over the season last year?

great win for ye, are thurles any good?
Yeah Thurles are good enough all right.. Bout the same as last year .. They were alot better than us in the 1st half and deserved their 1 nil lead at half time . We were way better than them in the 2nd half and fairly dominated them .
They only really had 1 chance the whole game whcih was a brilliant volley from 25 yards so i thought we defending very well against them . Overall it was a bit of a srappy game .
We have a big game again Sallypark now sunday .. They all seem to be big games which is good ..
On the naming of the refs thing .. My opinion is that they shouldnt be named on the forum ..

we drew with them twice, not to sure if they dropped anymore points, i havent seen clough play yet this year but i was impressed with sallypark the few times i seen them and it will be great for the league if someone can challange town this year, both clough and sallypark away will be very tough games for everyone this season and more so if they are in the hunt for silverware

I normally wouldnt comment on refs coz they have a hard enough job in fairness but Jimmy McCarthy is possibly the worst ref i have ever seen, been the same for years now...stands in the middle of the field for the whole game. Sounds petty but he didnt even check for shin-pads, studs or jewellery today...Complete waster..

If you happened to read on i took back what i said - it was a mistake singling him out - As for the tough man comment, i didnt threatin anybody, it was my opinion, which i am entitled to. Look further back, another ref was also named by another user...Again, it was a mistake and our forum friends were quick to point it out - it wont happen again...Il take this singling out as a slap on the wrist for my sins...

Simon is from Clare .. Good player and has scored a nice few goals for us so far .. He is in college in UL .. We have another lad from UL that couldnt play against Thurles last week .. He is a german lad ( right winger ) .. Good as well..
Think he played with Bayern munich last season ! :p

Honestly we are just taking each game as it comes and we will see what happens.. I still think Town will win the league fairly easily in the end .. Hope i am wrong ! Would love to see another team takes points off them like ye did tho ..

Well said, think everyone's taking it game by game at the minute, I'm just happy we're out of the relegation picture this early in the season, staying up is the primary aim. Looking forward to the clough game sunday, a draw won't be much use if either team wants to challenge this season, so should be a good attacking game

Castle 3-2 Borroway
Cloughjordan 3-2 sallypark.
That certainly makes things a little interesting.
Sally droping 7 points already though means its gonna be tough for them to push town.

Clough 3-2 Sallypark
I was waiting for mr man to post so I could congratulate him but anyway a good three points fpr clough to keep their 100% record going.
I think our biggest fault on the day was that we spent the first half trying to play football from the back, which was suicide, and went in 3 nil down at half time. A draw might have been the fairest result in the end but it was not to be, clough away will be a hard fixture for everyone this season.

Cheers panda .. We were delighted with the win even though i dont think we played particually well esp in the 2nd half.. Ye fought back well i must say .. What happened with one of your players .. Did he just walk off the field .. I only heard it after the game.. didnt even notice it during the game although i was wondering why ye were making a sub so early..

@celticlads
Pitch is better than last year, lower half isn't too bad at all. Well done on ye're win yesterday, always good to see north teams progressing.
@mrman
Ya it definitely was a game of two halves but with the hill and the wind I suppose that was always going to be the way. Being honest, I think ye are a stronger outfit this season but less of a footballing team but then again playing on that field it might be the way to go :)
Improvement will be needed for a league challenge but best of luck with it!
As for the man going off early in the game, it's a long story but it was a major blow for us, our most senior and probably our strongest player. You wouldn't see it on Dream Team :P

Alright lads, first post but just wanted to say for anyone who is interested in the happenings down the lower leagues Shannon Rangers out in front in the 3rd at the moment, John Flannery scoring goals for fun this season. Have to say Lough Derg B looking pretty strong by all accounts

17/10/2012, 1:53 AM
I haven't seen Lough Derg B play or played them, but they have only a .50 win rate (discounting the default win against Shannon Rangers). Rangers have a strong team, but player turnout is an issue for them and they've already a default loss because of poor turnout. Majority of their matches have been home games; so, we'll know if they've resolved it after their results from the long stretch of away games.
Who do you play for, redsect?

Unfortunately i gave up playing some years ago, but involved in a capacity in Shannon Rangers. You are correct, last year we didn't travel well but the panel is stronger with a higher commitment this year so i guess time will tell

Hard league to win, a lot of B squads there so maybe that's why teams are unpredictable. Same in any league, having a reliable eleven togged and fresh every sunday will go a long way. Best of luck with it

Thanks very much. Yeah, it is a hard league, and if we don't get out this year we never will. Big test on Sunday with Holycross B coming up to us and we are missing a few of our first team regulars so i guess that will tell us what we need to know.

Celtic are a very different beast now as you well know, our lads have played everyone and the only teams that impressed me were town and maybe thurles. Ye have a couple of different faces now that ye didnt have when we played ye earlier, and even in that game ye were only a missed peno away from getting a result. I've seen ye since and I'd put ye up with town and thurles, looking forward to sunday, we have been leaking goals so it might be a high scoring game as beaurifulgame said above

yes we have come on a bit since then alright but we are missing jimmy and maybe marky through injury 2 huge losses for us but we have a nice enough squad now so its a chance for other lads should be a good game again anyway

far from standard me thinks!! clough will take some catching now 6 from 6. celtic playing some stuff now and cant see them dropping too many points from here in. town cant afford another slip and they only scored 2 late goals today to beat lough derg. clough still to play town and celtic twice so should be a good league this year.
