Roy Keane going to the Barnsley v Swindon match today to watch him according to a small piece in the Irish Examiner by John Fallon
edit : Crowley is injured for today. Hope Roy didn't go all the way to Barnsley.
According to various users on Twitter, Keane is at the game

Still eligible, as far as I know. Even though there was talk of it (http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/international/anton-rodgers-set-to-switch-his-allegiance-from-republic-28661623.html), I don't think he ever switched to IFA nor has he represented anyone else, to best of my knowledge.

Interesting Keane went to a League One game. I hadn't thought someone playing at that level would be considered for a senior call-up (Forde is different).
He could have been looking at any/some/all of Conor Wilkinson, Conor Hourihane, Daniel Crowley and Anton Rodgers. I'd be surprised if Rodgers, Wilkinson or Hourihane were called up (even though he 's signed Hourihane in the past and he has impressed, it's a level below the level he'd need to impress at first). I don't think he'd need to see Crowley play as I'm sure the lad merits an under 21 call-up. Maybe he was going to have a chat with Crowley and took the game in out of courtesy? I hope it's Crowley-related. No offence to the others, but they have a bit left to do before senior consideration.

I actually seen this kid playing Gaelic football over in Birmingham a couple of years ago. He has amazing skill and comes from an very Irish background. I could be wrong but I think he is still U15. I didn't recognise the name earlier in the thread.
Heard Crowley could be back for Ireland soon.
The Irish Times story hasn't much in the line of evidence. Do you, by any chance, have some solid info for us?
I think this would represent a big statement if Crowley were to switch to us.

I'd love to actually ascertain the extent of Crowley's Irish roots. Similar to JG, he was a keen Gaelic footballer. It took long enough to confirm that 3 of Grealish's grandparents had been born in Ireland and had two English-born parents (I think a few rags had his father down as Irish-born).
This article http://www.balls.ie/football/dan-crowleys-youth-gaa-coach-thinks-hell-play-for-ireland/132706 has his old coach stating that "he visits his folks in Waterford regularly." That suggests his grandparents are in Waterford, does it? In which case it's likely his father emigrated and was born in Ireland.
On the other hand, it seems his father was a handy player who came through the ranks at Coventry: http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/sport/football/transfer-news/cov-kid-daniel-crowley-signs-7563919
No word on his mother's side yet, I don't think.
As I said, it'd be a big statement for a third generation lad to switch to us definitively, when he's one of the brightest prospects in England and they are very keen on him.
EDIT:
And here's a tweet from a while ago of him and his baby cousin in Ireland. First cousin would suggest his father is Irish-born but could also be second cousin. There's an aul lad in the background happy out anyway!:

Grandparents are from Tramore as far as I know and still live there. His mother's side as far as I recall are from Kerry. I recognise his grandad.
States below father born in Coventry which would probably mean grandparents returned here rather than the dad being born in Ireland.

Great stuff, thanks for that.
Never heard anything about his mother. Everything seems to relate to the father and grandparents' Waterford roots. In Kerry we can now claim a connection to both Crowley and Grealish!
EDIT: That goal above is not going to do us any favours over the next month. Gorgeous finish. Note it was England cap Jamie Vardy that lost his marker on that one.
JG has been outrageously good in the first half. Almost everything has gone through him.

Both Midlands lads, both mates, both highly rated, both have strong Irish backgrounds. I just think if Crowley declares it would make it easier for Grealish to say yes to us

Why? I also think it's ridiculous that the grealish thread was moved. It's all relevant to irish football. It's overbearing and pointless moderation if you ask me. The conversation in both threads has never been objectionable so there is no reason why these threads couldn't or shouldn't be moved back. It's this sort of "nanny state" approach (not blaming you Tets, it's been like this for a while) that has killed this messageboard.

Crowley's an English player, who is Irish qualified, and has given no indication that he will change his international allegiance, beyond some support of the Irish team on social media - and nothing in the last year. Why would he be discussed in the Ireland forum?
I'm pretty sure I said the Grealish thread would be moved if he changed allegiances about a year ago. FWIW, nobody complained when I moved it until now
For consistency I should probably move the Donnelly thread as well
Or none of them. Speculation about promising potential future caps is part and parcel of being a fan of the irish team and has been for me since I was a teen. Just because we get rebuffed every now and again doesn't make it any less relevant to irish football and the ups and downs of following irish footballing fortunes. It's so unnecessary.

There's a thread for potentially eligible players: http://foot.ie/threads/119079-Potentially-eligible-players-thread
Yeah, I know that. There also used to be two threads for discussing specific players who are eligible. I don't know why they've been moved. Sure they might have a flurry of posts for a few weeks but they would have disappeared off the first page pretty soon after that. I just don't know what the benefit of moving these threads is. This was never done before, ever. You also deemed it worthy to close the Grealish thread for months for some reason. The Noble et al thread was never closed until further developments...it is so arbitrary and weird. The main troll is long gone that might have warranted this type of action but not even he is relevant anymore.
Shall we go through every thread in the ireland forum and make sure that they are all moved over here where the player has not declared yet or has since declared elsewhere? Joe Mason, Donnelly you mentioned but there's loads more. Do we need a formal declaration? I'm sorry, I'm just not sure what parameters you use to decide what stays and what goes. Should we have moved Clark out and then back in again? Is it just player threads or should we be on the look out for other non player specific transgressions?

Pat Bamford, Shane O'Neill, Barry MaGuire, Zak Gilsenan, Conor Doyle can all be moved too, if that's the way things are going to be done....

I agree with SkStu completely. I'd say most people don't even think of coming to World Football to check new posts, etc. I rarely do anyway. Despite recent events, Grealish is still a former Irish international player so he belongs in the Irish section for that reason alone... and it's the obvious place to discuss the others too (although fair point about the eligibility thread).
Olé Olé
06/10/2015, 10:31 AM
Have to say that I concur. Also, Crowley is a former underage player for us who remains eligible to play for us and has been subject to comments in the press from the Ireland manager, Martin O'Neill. I think it's fitting that such matters be highlighted and discussed in the Ireland forum given that they are on the agenda of O'Neill.
The same principle doesn't really apply for Grealish as he is now ineligible and off O'Neill's radar given that he is in the process of using up his switch. But I can understand how others would see it suitable for him to remain in the Ireland forum.
