He has ability to be class. Watched good few of his game in Holland and everything went through him. Might be better off moving back there

Anyone see him play more recently for Brirmingham? Plenty of appearances but going the wrong way down the divisions, even if he is just 23. Young skillful players can flatter to deceive when breaking though. No pressure, nice touches, neat and tidy but get to a point where they need to impact games.

In terms of full games, saw 2 of his Birmingham starts. He was very good in both but wasn’t playing as a 10. He was much deeper, kinda where Thiago plays for Liverpool, spraying passes from deep, combined with comfortably dribbling forward when under pressure.

Has been released by Birmingham.
I still think he can turn out to be a useful player for us, but he turns 24 in August. His next move is an important one and it'll be very interesting to see where he ends up.

I agree we are screaming for a number 10 style player
Go to Belgium or back to Holland son

Could never understand his move to Birmingham in the 1st place. You would wonder why players dont look at the style of play a team plays to see if it suits them before moving. Jack Byrne did the exact same thing.

To be fair when he signed they had a Spanish manager and the football suited him. He played a lot the first season. Then they brought in Karanka and he didn't want to use a 10 and Crowley was dropped fairly quickly.
Not much a player can do in that situation. Creative attacking midfielders like Crowley and Byrne are particularly vulnerable to manager changes as a lot of managers don't use that kind of player. The only thing they can do is try to broaden their game and get involved in the more physical stuff as a midfielder, but Crowley from what I've seen of him is unlikely to be able to do that.

Stokes. Kennedy. Crowley. All terrible underachievers.
As was Sean Thornton. Let's hope Danny Grant gets fit and starts doing well otherwise we could add Grant, Thornton...

Was close to signing for them back in July until his agent moved the goalposts at the last minute according to Michael Duff. Apparently his agent being hard to deal with is why a few clubs didn't sign him. Was on trial with a few clubs.

is it fair to lob crowley in with the two boys? kennedy is a funny one. the dancing on the car bonnet thing was covered off in an interview and it seemed like a turning point - end of his international career and recognition he had missed his big chance maybe - he turned it around and is now doing well coaching. Stokes on the other hand is a very different prospect.
does crowley have discipline issues or is he just an average footballer on the basis that success is a formula of talent+health+ application + decision making...
the stick for kennedy is that he failed given the talent at his disposal.
MCphail was let down by his health
crowley could come good yet.. even Wes was 24 when he got the move to blackpool...

is it fair to lob crowley in with the two boys? Sorry, it was a bad joke. Stokes Kennedy Crowley was Ireland's biggest accounting firm, rebranded KPMG Ireland after KPMG bought them. They were the independent observer on the televised Lotto wheel spin, some friends reminded me during the week.
Grant Thornton is another big accounting firm. Hence the Thornton / Grant thing...
Too cryptic :)

Before his move to Birmingham he was doing well in the Eredivisie, you'd have to have something good about you to be a nr.10 in the Dutch league.

Would love to see him involved in March. Same division as 4 players who played last night with a few more from league 1 regularly in squads. Would only fit into a formation of a 10 behind a front 2 which Kenny not keen on it seems. Completely Different than what we have and offers creativity to open up maybe defences of those kind of sides we need to beat to be in the mix with the likes of Serbia for a playoff place. Don't see him having the physical ability for playing wide in a front 3 chasing full backs all day.

He's on a short term contract so probably needs to concentrate on having a club in March rather than anything else. Have you seen him playing much recently?

No lastvtime I've seen him was his first season at Birmingham when he did well I thought in wide areas. Seemed wasted to me in that position doesn't have the pace or physicality for it I don't think. Ideal number 10 though especially when we have none.

.
It didn’t end Kennedy’s Irish career.
He played in that campaign later on and was included in the World Cup Squad before pulling out due to injury after the Sunderland Niall Quinn testimonial match (in which he scored)

Players like Crowley need to be loved and have a manager who is willing to allow him to play. The Championship is so competitive I can see why managers may feel they can’t afford a player of his ilk. The weird thing is he might be more effective in international football, than playing in a higher league in England. If Ogbene can make that transition, why not Crowley. A different kind of player, but it was a tragedy that Paddy McCourt never had a decent club career. His performances for Celtic, when picked were sometimes mesmerising, but it was all about work rate.

I agree with you he may be more suited to international football especially against those mid and lower tier nations who you need to open up at some point to beat. Might not be the man you pick to play away to Germany but having that variety in your squad lgives you options. Ogbene is a power and pace option , cowley is more the poise and panache option.

I think his situation is the exact same as
Ryan j. Capped competitively at under age with a different country. While not in possession of an irish passport. The new rule allowed Ryan in
So I'm sure he is OK.

Willem II are having a terrible season. No wins since September, although there were no games in January, and currently on a run of eight consecutive losses in the league - after winning five and drawing two of their opening ten games!
Second worst goals conceded in the division, and third worst goals scored.
Playing RKC Waalwijk, who knocked them out of the KNVB Cup in October, on Saturday when the Eredivisie resumes.

Willem do seem to be in a bit of a death spiral all right, but that good start you mentioned means they're still four points clear of the relegation places.
Putting a more positive spin on it, at least it shouldn't be too difficult for Crowley to get into the team!

Played most of the game (came on in the 28th minute) against Sparta Rotterdam. We should see him starting matches soon and hopefully will emerge as a serious option for us. Still only 24.
As an aside, another one of Willem's January signings is the wonderfully named (and I'm not making this up) Jizz Hornkamp, which surely must rank as one of the best footballer names ever.

Got 70 minutes against ajax today. They conceded after he went off and lost one nil. Hopefully see Jim in the march squad. We have nothing like him so worth having him in the squad as an option . Surely there is a limit to tge amount of hard running artisan midfielders one country can have . A bit of stardust amongst the sawdust

I'd be amazed if he's in the March squad. Being honest it's possible that he will never be capped for us, just comes across as a kind of luxury player that we can't afford to carry, given our limitations across the team.

An option off the bench against similar or lower ranked teams when we are looking to get a goal by trying to control possesion to help create some chances from sustained pressure . What's harm.of having him in a squad for friendlies ? We know what the likes of hard working cover the ground lads like browne can offer us. We have so many 8s like knight , browne, molumby, hendrick hourihane and very few 6s with only Cullen and mccarthy and maybe mcgrath and ronan as possible no 10s.
