I heark Frank Nelligan is going managing Abbey alright but I heard it was Eddie Brouder and Paul Slater taking over Newcastle. Not sure how much of that is true, but thats what I heard

After the year he had with Pike I think he would be mad to go back to Rathkeale....dont believe this for a second:clown:

@Broadford Rumour is that they are busy hunting for players... with Tommy Butler potentially going there, along with some players from Charleville!

@Newcastle West - I heard Eddie Brouder and Paul Slater put there name forward for manager but so did Gerry Cronin!

@Ncw Rovers - Willie Enright is the manager for next season!

@Shannonside - heard some of their older players not playing next year! didn't hear any names though...

Few people in the city transfer thread have said they heard he was joining rathkeale...nobody knows only himself but loads of players have left pike rovers and joined athlone town in the airtricty first division..

Heard this morning that Tossie butler,Daniel power and Antony o Donnell are joining abbeyfeale utd....Tony Quaid and Mark Doherty are going into Limerick city league...Leon could be right about Newcastle west being in trouble..

Looks like everyone is jumping on the Abbeyfeale bandwagon... looks like club loyalty is a thing of the past... shame really.
Congrats to Jerry Cronin for bringing a relegation threatened team to league champions in 1 season.

Does anyone know what is happening with the youths leagues this season?
What happened at the AGM?

Couldnt see them going to Abbey, What I heard was that O'Donnell was living in Shanagolden and had convinced the boys to go with him. I presume there are going to be the usual 1 or 2 players telling their clubs that the bright lights of Limerick are appealing to them and that they are going to give it a right crack this year, These players would want their head's examined unless they are going to Pike or Fairview because nobody else in Limerick will compete, new rules or no new rules.
I also heard that Peter Nash was up playing with Broadford the other night, very strange if its true.

Mark odoherty and tommy butler are talking janesboro, got serious offers from
them. Will more than likely sign too, both of them legged it from regional so will probably do same again.

All promoted teams to go straight back down or any chance of survival?

snafu
07/07/2011, 1:17 PM
I'd fancy ballingarry to stay up going by their last year and a half of soccer.
Not sure about Kildimo though ...

Thers a lot of inconsistency of teams in the premier league so its impossible to tell

Leon
07/07/2011, 1:24 PM
Ballingarry way too good to be anywhere else but the premier, I heard that Mick Ahern has signed for them from Pike so he will be a good addition. I heard alright that Jerry Cronin had got Newcastle job, but I wouldnt believe for a minute that the Abbey boys will follow him, Why would they when Abbey are in better condition that Newcastle. I also heard that there is major activity in Broadford with Ray Lynch in charge with Tossie Butler, Joe McAullife, Alan Fitzpatrick and Marty Foley all having played games with them. Not sure who the Foley lad is but he is meant to be good by all accounts

TigerBalm
07/07/2011, 3:08 PM
Marty Foley is with Regional, handy enough
Agree on Ballingarry, not sure again with Kildimo stayin up..although that pitch will have to change either way!!

snafu
07/07/2011, 3:40 PM
Its not as bad as the rovers field who have been in the premier for x amount of years now
cant see Joe McAullife, Alan Fitzpatrick (both St.Itas am i correct?) making a huge difference to the Broadford team..

I'd reckon Kildimo and Askeaton are the most likely candidates to go down next year!
And it's anyones title again next year, all depends on who starts well and gets a run going!!

Marty foley was with kilmallock last year, played with charleville for years,he's supposed to be going back there

08/07/2011, 12:58 PM
Ya, Mick Barry going back to Rathkeale again I heard. He played a 7-side tournamnet with them in the last few weeks.
He will be a loss to Kildimo.

No, abbeyfeale won the premier division last season

limkdesmond

I agree with walkover..I think kildimo will be bottom of the table this coming season with askeaton just above them.but you wud never know.

limkdesmond
10/07/2011, 12:26 AM
Ya shannonside basically threw it away..it was in their own hands and the fluffed it..rathkeale good footballing team but were thought a lesson by Newcastle west in the 2 cup finals..they started very bad last year but were probably the best team in the league during the second half of the season

lankyboy26
11/07/2011, 9:55 AM
God i was sure Shannonside would've went on to win it, they really blew it. When was the last time they won it?

snafu
11/07/2011, 10:11 AM
Shannonside was only formed 2/3 years ago, it is the Foynes and Shanagolden clubs combined, Foynes last won the premier in '98.
Personally i cant see them challenging for the premier again this year... I feel last season was a once off for them.

Interesting. I was wondering why I'd never heard of them until recently. I remember Foynes being a very good side before alright

Lads does anyone know what the story is with Rathkeale and Newcastle next year. I heard a month ago about Sean Hartnett taking over Rathkeale but have heard nothing since, in fairness you could see why Rathkeale might find it hard to find a manager as they are a team in transition, but as for Newcastle, they seem to be all over the shop, its the first time I can remember other Desmond League clubs poaching their players and looking like they might get them, we are now in the middle of July and they still dont have their manager sorted, or has Jerry Cronin taken the job in the last few days. The last I heard of him was that himself and Anthony O'Donnell were going to Shannonside

Heard today off a rathkeale player that last years shannonside manager is definite taking over rathkeale this year

This is better than sky sports news with all the rumours flying about. Heard J Cronin had the NCW job too but unconfirmed. Is there any changes this season with regards getting more games played at the start? eg on a Fri nite for the first few weeks? If not dont know why, it only makes sense.

Ya good idea alright, the only downside side is that the teams that have GAA players playing with them would be left wih no chance of winning the league as these players would probably be unavailable for at least one of the matches every weekend

I heard Paul Slater & Eddie Brouder were going to be taking over NCW this year, not sure tho. sure its that time of year when you hear everyone is going to all these different clubs but for a finish tis going to be pretty much the same as last year, with regards to players anyway!

I was told this morning that they have an outsider coming in, To be honest Id say the dont know themselves, and if they dont know, then nobody on this site knows either in my opinion

Ye won the league 2 years ago, ye nearly got relegated last year, ye have lost players to immigration, what part confuses you Barry, by the way, I heard young Nash was up playing with Broadford today vs janesboro, could you confirm if there is any truth in this
