Abbeyfeale won 1-0 in Kerry today in the fai
And now are home to Tralee Dynamos in the next round, will be interesting to see how many of last season's A champonship team plays for Tralee as the A Championship is now gone. Could be a very strong team if they all decide to play.

I can't understand why all the Premier league games were off this morning given that only 4/5 teams involved in the Oscar Traynor team. Furthermore why did the morning matches start at 11.30? This gave no-one a chance to go to Tralee to support their league. Is it true that the 2 Quilligans did not travel? So much for representing your league !!!! The lads who travelled deserve our respect. If players put GAA before representing their league they should say so, before they get to make themselves available. Hopefully our guys can turn it around in the return leg. Christy and his team deserve the best of luck in the return match.

Average to poor premier league team. Would have finished in the bottom half of the premier in the last 4 or 5 seasons. Got off to an ok start this season but have played the teams that would be fighting relegation, they lost to the only good team they played. They beat a poor Clare Division 1 side in first round of FAI. You can see all their results in Desmond League website

would'nt agree with you there think they are a decent side in my opinion made some good signings this year including tossie butler recently....they have the best set up in the league were unlucky to loose to Shannonside and they beat NCW this year
they have struggled over the years but this year I feel they can compete

Lads was at the limerick city oscar traynor last nite and also desmond game in kerry.limerick really plated as a team last nite but i thought the desmond lge did not gel together, their was some good indiviual performances from russell in goals(although i would blame him for 3rd goal)tony quaid was excellent in midfield an thought kelliher had a great game at centre back, but too many others went missing on the day, also thought mark doherthy had a poor game at centre,he is a quality player but not a centre back at that level, there is surely better in lge, the bench was poor as there was a lack of attackin players. How come quirke was not starting in goal? hopefully management an players can turn it around an more attacking players join panel, they should be proud to repersent their lge when they get the chance.

What attacking players do you feel they are missing. People will just have to accept that the players are just not in the league at the moment, and when the premier league leaders send 1 out of the 6 players requested then there is little management or anyone else can do.

That oscar traynor team needs an influx of younger hungry players and players that actually play in the positions they are put! I wonder what the average age of the team is I would say it wasn't far of thirty? I was also at the match and thought the attacking options were limited due to team selection. For example the only winger on the team Scott Hurley was playing in the backs, with five or six out and out centre midfielders on the pitch at one time, this lack of balance was their downfall. I also don't believe that the league as a whole is being represented by this team christy needs to get his scouts out before the next fixture

Could you inform us what players do you feel were unlucky not to be selected. Its fine saying the wrong team is selected but I cant see anyone coming up with a better one. The criticism is a bit harsh to be fair.

I heard Ian Bennis had gone back to Fairview. Do you not rate the two keepers (Russell & Quirke) in the squad ?. What two players on the team would you replace with the two you mentioned ?.

The players that travelled deserve our support, in all fairness it wasnt a massive panel, as stated previously some were otherwise engaged, gaa etc. In my opinion I think the players that travelled can win the return match by 2 goals at least. Also the two keepers are arguably the best players on the panel!!

Why do the managers of the team rarely look outside the premier division for players? I am not saying they will find many players outside of it, but it seems a bit unfair to the players who are well able for the team but are loyal to their own club so their chance of making the team is virtually gone.

08/10/2011, 7:02 AM
Do the management actually go out and watch games to see who the best players are? It seems to be much the same players every year who are picked based on their performances a few years ago even if they have fallen back a bit in recent times. Surely they should be on the look out for younger fresher players who are in form at the moment rather than older slower players who had their peak five years ago.

There has only been 4-5 league matches this season, management only ratified last month, when do you think they will get a chance to view these lower division players, who do you think deserves a chance from the lower divisions

There are some players with the likes of kileaney, carrig celtic and a few more who are every bit as good as some of the players in the squad and are hungrier and fitter. I stopped playing a few years ago but i still reckon i could turn quicker than some of the players in the squad who were great players in their day but are probably picked on reputation rather than form. I have nothing against these fellas, they were great players but i think its time to pick players who really want to represent their league instead of some who are past it a bit and others who see it as a burden
